Then I'd say that Dallas needs to move up to #9. Houston would definitely take an impact, blue chip running back. They have many holes to fill, but their need for premium talent is much greater!!

I don't think Houston will take him, I'm hearing them talking about RB being a luxury not a big need but they are in critical situation at S and with Landry likely to be there I would expect them to look to him. OL is another major need for them to help protect their newly acquired QB. I don’t think it is out of the question that Houston would go with Peterson but I think the 2 most likely teams would be Cleveland at #3 and Buffalo at #12. I don’t expect Dallas to move inside the top 10 but I do think 11 is a possibility if the Cowboys are seriously thinking Peterson.

I think he goes to Cleveland at #3, but I do see him falling if he doesn't go there. I just don't know why Bradie Quinn isn't a slam dunk for Cleveland. The team hasn't had a good QB since Bernie Kosar. Quinn is an Ohio high school legend, and he played and groomed under Charlie Weiss who is close to Romeo Crennel.

I agree I think Cleveland is the key in regarding Peterson.

I cant figure out why a number of teams dont want to get in position for quinn. I would think it is a no brainer for cleveland to take quinn. I think peterson could be a chip to move them down a spot or two, arizona, tampa and washington wont take him for sure so they could possibly get someone to move for peterson.

I still cant get why detroit doesnt want him. I just dont get why. I would think quinn goes to cleveland for sure, if not then minnesota.

of course if russell doesnt go at 1 maybe cleveland takes him and then minnesota takes quinn allowing peterson to slide.

Detriot doesn't want Peterson or Quinn over Johnson? I think it's an easy choice. I don't understand why Oakland wouldn't take Johnson or Thomas first overall instead of even looking at Russell. Johnson is the absolute freak of the draft. As for Thomas, Oaklands biggest problem is protection, and Thomas is by far the best offensive linemen in the draft and he plays the hardest position on the line to fill (left tackle) on top of it!!!

My draft board starts with Johnson then Thomas if I'm Oakland, Cleveland, or Detriot.

I am assuming josh mccown will be a raider by friday and the raiders take johnson. So If detroit and cleveland dont take the two quarterbacks I would be suprised.

Thats all I am saying. If quinn is passed by detroit and cleveland It would be a head scratcher to me, although I did hear yesterday that the lions want trent edwards with their 2nd round pick.. So that explains them wanting more picks and having edwards targeted.

No kidding. Charlie Frye is never going to be a player IMO. And that's being kind.

I'm not totally sold on Quinn, but he could be a good game manager type that Crennel would like. And as we all know, if you don't have a QB, you aren't going anywhere.

I'm really hoping the Weiss/Crenell connection gets Cleveland to take Quinn or Oakland goes with Calvin #1 and Cleveland takes Jamarcus. He falls to 10 and we give our 1st/2nd/3rd whatever to get to 10. Then trade Julius after the draft for a 2nd/3rd rounder next year and keep building for our future. Something like that happening would make my day.

Peterson is not worth that much.

If by some chance both Quinn and Peterson were to fall to #10, who do you think Houston would take? I would say they have to take a QB, especially after after passing on three franchise type QB's last year only to cut David Carr after giving him his option money.

The other thing to consider is Kubiak, Denver made a living on getting quality RB play without spending a high pick, the Denver phylosophy might have a lot to do with why they passed on Bush.

I would personally love to use J.J. to move up, maybe Buffallo? I would then take Irons, Jackson or Bush in the third.

I can see AD falling to Houston, in fact, I have him doing that exact thing in my mock draft :) except for I think Houston takes him, they can't afford to pass on 2 very good runners twice in back-to-back years

I have him going to Houston as well. They make up for the Bush debacle. In fact I heard they had this all planned out last year. :D

I know that if the draft stays just as it is, it is conceivable that AD falls. I just can't imagine someone not using Peterson as the bait to move back. I look at Washington and Minnesota, and I see teams that would like to move down. Atlanta might even have a hard time passing on Peterson and putting him in the backfield with Vick. Heck, even the Dolphins might decide they want to get more picks and auction off Peterson.

I do agree with those who say that Houston would rather poke themselves in the eye with a sharp stick than give away someone like Peterson to Dallas. That isn't happening.

I'd love to somehow get Peterson here. If the team would deal Julius, they could conceivably do it without giving up too many picks. At least, they could get a first day pick back anyway.

Yea, that'd be a stellar move, trade 1 inconsistent, injury-prone back, and draft picks no less, for another. The only thing "AD" about Peterson is, it either takes him "AD" to get his 100 yrds, or it's "AD on the bench".

vela thinks that maybe we will be in talks with arizona in the second round.

Denver is contemplating trading out of the 21st spot. Does this mean a team is trying to leapfrog Dallas and take a player the Cowboys might be targeting?

I’ve written before that several teams immediately behind the Cowboys are looking for cornerback and safety help. Keep an eye on the Broncos.

The same story says the Broncos offered 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds picks this year plus an ‘08 first rounder for Detroit’s #2 overall pick, contingent on Calvin Johnson being available. That’s about 2,000 points worth of picks, which equals the third overall spot.

If I’m Detroit and Johnson is available, I make this trade. You would have five picks between the 21st and 86th spots plus two #1s next year.

– Yesterday I mentioned in thread that Arizona could be a candidate for a 1st or 2nd round running back, either taking Adrian Peterson in the first or perhaps talking to Dallas or other teams about a veteran running back in the early 2nd.

Today comes confirmation that Arizona has Peterson on its short list — from none other than Peterson himself.

If a player Dallas likes, like Brandon Meriweather, Anthony Spencer, Ben Grubbs or Justin Blalock is sitting on the board at Arizona’s 36th pick, and the Cards have taken somebody besides Peterson at pick five, I’ll bet the Cowboys and Cards talk.

If the Cowboys don't draft Peterson, I don't see Jones being on the trading block.

rosenhaus was on dan patrick earlier and said he had heard that quinn to cleveland at 3 was a lock (quinn is not his client so not just smoke). if Peterson does not go to the browns he may drop far enough for us to get him.

oh man, things are really getting interesting

last year was really anti-climactic since everyone and their mom knew that we were gonna pick Carpenter...and then we picked a backup TE in the second round, and we know the rest of the story

even still, the anticipation for the draft is almost as fun as the draft--and JJ really made it interesting with his statements yesterday...and everything that comes out seems to support the possibility of landing Peterson
