NFL: No alcohol for team functions, flights

Only in America is alcohol such a bad thing. I have conducted business overseas and it is expeted for you to drink. Hell we even had full bars in our offices overseas.

In other countries people can be adults about it. I spent a month in Spain and never saw anyone fighting or being a jerk b/c they were drunk. Hell, I was at a bullfight - the most brutal (and for those of you following other threads, non-PETA type event possible) -- we were packed in like sardines, 105 degrees, everyone drinking beer to stay cool and whiskey shots to stay drunk (you can get both at the stadium from vendors who come around every 5 minutes) - folks were loaded and everyone was cool. It was crowded leaving -- it took nearly an hour -- none of this "why you pushing" BS.

It isn't an alcohol issue - it is a butt-hole issue. Some people are jerks. They aren't jerks because they drink. Me, I want to have a few when I go to a game -- if i'm not driving, I might have 10 drinks easy by the end of the day (I'm a big and tall guy) but no matter how loaded, I'm not screaming obscenities around children (or even women). I make that a point of pride. I won't be the guy who makes folks not want to bring their kids.

I went to a Mavericks playoff game last season and some jerk decided to bring his 2 year old girl with him (she looked two)

sorry but I didn't pay money for a playoff ticket to watch my language and be respectful around little kids

besides, why should I be at fault? I went to a pre-season game against the Clippers just for the hell of it, and the little 4 year old sitting in front of me kept calling them "screw you, cripples!" the entire game!

j/k, he was trying to say "clippers" but he talked funny due to being little so it came out as "cripples", and it had me cracking up the entire time

I have no problem with folks enjoying games drunk.

I do have problems enjoying games classless.

Feeling like you have to scream profanities is the real problem here, not drinking.

It's not that I "have" to... it's just that I just go by what the voices in my head tell me to say

As for drinking at stadeums I can def understand a person not wanting their kids to see that type of thing. drunk people get rowdy and i like getting rowdy myelf but ive always thought designated sections for kids or something would solve a lot of that.

I think its great NOW only if we can keep it out of the Stadiums altogether.
That would be even better!!! No drinks for the players and no drinks for the fans inside the game ----

Alcohol is a drug that should be used on a player's OWN time.....not during NFL-related functions if we are to be taking the NFL's whole stand on bad behavior seriously.

I've never understood the thing about alcohol being legal and marijuanna being illegal......but that's a whole other hill of beans, isn't it?

I like to drink once in a while......and I also know that not a single, solitary, good thing comes from drinking.

there is no good reason to allow drinking in stadiums, NONE. And lots of reasons NOT to.

I guess you never been to a Football match in the UK. Try that for size, then come back and post....Talk about wild animals...I would put the Manchester United crowd up against the eagles fans anyday of the week and twice on sunday (pun) intened.

I will go on record and say the morality police need to shut up and let people lead the lives they want to. If a guy wants to be a drunk screw it, its his life and his liver. I am not in any position to tell him how to live. This is stupid at this point, a man or woman should be able to walk any life they chose, and if it screws my bottom line up then so be it. I am not one to tell people how to live.

A player can have a drink he just can't do it while he is involved in team functions. If a guy can't get by a couple of days without a drink then chances are that guy has a problem. No one is saying you can never have a drink. Geez you would think getting drunk is some high priority that should not be tampered with.

And it is widely acknowledged that you DON'T take children to those games. There is no pretending that is a family friendly environment.

I'm another one in your corner. The only game I ever got to attend in person I was totally turned off by loud mouth jerks with too many cold ones in them. ( mostly the opposing teams fans)

at least have a section that is family friendly.

I've been to a couple of games where some drunk idiots have spoiled the game for us. Why should I have to endure their ignorance when I paid $100 for a ticket???? My money is just as important as theirs! I spend as much money on concessions as they do on beer so this fan is just as important as they are!

NO BEER!!!!!!!!:D

It could be if it were not for a bunch of drunk idiots!:D

Many organizations have rules like this. There are serious liability issues involved.

How many "team functions" are we talking about here? I doubt that there are many official team dinners and such.

Now if only they could ban alcohol from the stadiums.

That will never happen with all the corporate sponsorships tied to beer companies. I work in PR, marketing and advertising and trust me these teams get a lot of their funds through those companies.
