No to Michael Sam, don't need the circus that will follow him.

You're right. Let's just have a nice quiet season with Jeremy Mincey racking up sacks.

People just assume there will be noise with Sam, but seriously, all that fear will go out the window when ppl realize he's not Terrel Owens. Just a football player with a good attitude.

That is all....
Can't make that request without knowing who's job he takes.
Which DE does he replace?

DE Lavar Edwards
DE Crawford, Tyrone
DE Lawrence, DeMarcus
DE Mincey, Jeremy
DE Selvie, George
DE Spencer, Anthony

Mincey is a better player and he has no baggage.

To me, anyone who can actually rush the passer and has motor should be a scheme fit for this horrible defense.

Tend to agree - didn't he have 4 sacks and three pressures in pre-season? He makes plays but if the scheme doesn't fit him I think this guy we got would probably be better.

Im not sure about his attitude. He may talk a good game but actions speak louder than words. After coming out of the closet, his first action was to hold a public autograph signing where he charged people for his autograph. Yea, he's a role model for sure.

You would think so.

But we just traded for some scrub DE. And Lawrence might come back at some point. Just oozing with talent and depth.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I am curious what the "scheme fit" is. This is a very elementary defense built of traditional principles.

So, I am guessing Hayden is a "quick twitch", "long arms" player?

I would understand if we had quality all over the place, but that is not the case.

He doesn't have any baggage. The dude likes dudes. Pretty sure nobody on this team would care if he, or anyone, could help a line that is sure to struggle. If Michael Sam were a WR, not one person on this board want him. But we need lineman. It would play zero role as a distraction in Dallas since everyone on this team is (at last check) over the age of 12. That being said, since we just traded for a DE, I'd imagine we're out of the market.

The media cares that he likes dudes and the Cowboys don't need that distraction when he only has marginal talent to begin with. No thanks.

I think he's referring to the extra media presence that the first openly gay NFL player will bring.

I'm pretty sure the media doesn't dictate the talent on your team. The term "distraction" is getting a little old. Again, if this were pick up football amongst 12 year olds, or 1950, we might have a problem. But its not. We need help on the line, and a guy with his stats is going to garner some attention. If he was anyone else, just looking at the stat line, people would want to have a look. For now, we have a line that somehow still includes Hayden. I mean, c'mon....

You might not want to hear it but it's happening. Not many 7th rounders are getting the media coverage that Sam has had. I can see it as a legitimate concern to some execs/coaches.

What difference does it make what year it is, distraction is distraction and his talent level isn't good enough to give him a roster spot.
