I waited on purpose to post in this thread since they are my practically in my backyard. It's beyond stupid to me why they are doing this. I'm not surprised by some of the responses.

This is a small market team but has a very strong following and their fans really get into the Chefs big time. You can guess how this news flies around here. Carl Peterson proves that he is an idiot over and over again.

Well we play them in a couple of years. If this game is in KC I'm going. One thing I can guarantee you, I will have my Cowboy gear on and I will be standing and screaming my our team.

I have already called ahead and reported you for future violations.

Agreed.

There are times I don't want to stand at a sporting event (like when I am extremely drunk). But I never ask anyone to sit. I just stand up, hang onto the nearest friend to balance, and cheer......

The only time you should "have to sit" is if everyone around you is sitting.

Majority rules and thats how I play it.

If I ever ask someone to sit down at the game I better have no legs or be sitting behind someone who is 7 feet tall.

Sit down at a game.... Next thing you know youll be asking me to sit down to pee.

It should be common knowledge when going to a sporting event that FANS are going to STAND and CHEER for their team.

Obviously no one is going to STAND the whole 3.5 hours a game takes.

If you really want a perfect view of the game you might as well save your money and watch on HD at home.

You go to games to experience the ATMOSPHERE ie loudness, yelling, clapping, standing.

Gf's/wives/kids need to understand that there's a chance they'll hear some bad language, unruly behavior, or have an obstruction of the view. The only time I really feel it's necessary to ask someone to sit down at times is if they stand for the majority of the time during non-crucial times (time outs, commercial breaks, all of it is subjective of course).

If they're there to cuddle with you on 3rd downs, red zone attempts, every other play, don't go to the game.

But if someone else tells me to sit down, on a 3rd and short, and we're on defense. I'm going to :bang2::bang2::bang2: right into their forehead.

Guys, it doesn't mean that you aren't allowed to stand and cheer. All it does is give the stadium and security something to hold against you should you do it excesively (ie; to the point a person needs to complain).

I agree with Theebs that if you go to an event like this, you should expect people standing, drinking, cheering, and even cursing. So don't come to a game unless you want little 9 year old Anny getting face painted and coming home knowing a ton of four letter words.

Where I disagree with Theebs is everything else. Especially the "You can't bully me!!" schtick. So if a person says, "that register is open.." then he is demanding that you move forward and you will not let ANY person in line bully you? I would save the bravado. Not everyone enjoys a game the same way so don't pass someone off as not being a fan because he doesn't stand, drink a Coors, yell until his voice is gone and b***h when the ball is fumbled.

You paid your money so you get to enjoy that game within the guidelines of the rules. He also paid for his ticket and would like to enjoy it also (his way). If those differ, find a happy medium. Move to the side a bit. Maybe stand for some of the defensive stand and not the entire defensive stand. If there isn't some order... you're just a Philly fan. So where is the line drawn?

And maybe he left in the third because he felt there was a big jerk up front that wouldn't listen. I am not nearly bashing you for you wanting to cheer. I am for that. Where I disagree 100% with you is your flat out refusal to appreciate someone elses' wants. Sounds like a selfish lover to me ;)

You would be surprised. A game is an hour long. A person will have no trouble standing for that hour of playing time.

A live experience is a live experience. It doesn't only appeal to the people who want to stand or yell.

That is why you go to the game. Others go for other reasons. You want them to put up with your reasons, why is it unacceptable to put up with theirs in return?

Exactly. It is subjective. So how come you are justified in the line you draw but others are not because their line is different. People's interpretation of a past event will often differ but both speak the truth how they see it. This guy probably saw Theebs standing during those crucial times.

There is someone that will always complain.

I was in a similar situation at Texas Stadium. It was the 1998 playoff game against the Cardinals. The game was still very close(the final score was 20-7) and the entire section I was in was standing and cheering for Dallas to step up and do something late in the 3rd quarter. I did not see anyone doing anything obnoxious or inappropriate, yet security came and ask that we all sit down because people further behind were complaining. It was not even the people directly behind our section. I think those people were standing. The majority of the stadium was probably standing at that point int he game. No one argued with security or anything like that, but we all gave each other a "what just happened" look. No one was standing the whole game or for a large portion of the game. It was really only during big plays and then that critical stretch in the 3rd quarter. It was the playoffs. I was surprised.

Velvet,

If I am standing, the people in front of me are standing, and the people behind me ask me to sit down what should I do?

Also do you play it by majority?

I agree if everyone is sitting on their yack than I should too.

[stand-up]But if Emmitt Smith breaks one of the biggest frickin records in football and someone asks me to sit down I want to know whats going through the mind of the person who is behind me sitting on their arse.[/stand-up]

I can't believe this is even an argument. It seems like we've all complained that Tx Stadium fans don't get as loud as other stadiums to help the team and that its expected to stand and yell when your defense is on the field.

This will be enforced for exactly 1 or 2 games before the fans riot and they stop doing it cause they realize just how stupid a rule it is.

Thats the reason if we arent playing a big game the fan noise is incredibly sucky.

Its a bunch of coorperate butt kissers in the stands.

If you think this is bad wait until they open Jerry World. Nobody will want to stand.

ITs a frickin joke.

Oh give me a break.

Most of the people stand when they are at the games.

What about the people who are so fat they cant even fit into their seat comfortably? 2 can play that game.

If you pay for a ticket that is your space. You can do what you want. Sit, stand, or what ever.

I got asked to sit down when Emmitt Smith broke the rushing record while the other 79,000 stood and cheered.

Get real people. Your at a football game.

Plus when someone asks you to sit down you usually have the people in front of you standing as well. If the majority is standing than just stand your butt up.

Did you not even read the follow up post?

Another reason why the NFL is called the No Fun League. What a joke, if your 85 years old and people standing bugs you, then sit your old *** home, strap on some diapers and watch the game and your 22" TV.

BDC, maybe we can get thrown out together. I go to 2 or 3 games every year. Really hope the Cowboys game will be in KC.

My 2 cents:

When I pay for a SEAT at a concert, I like to be able to utilize it whenever possible without having my view obstructed. Now if I paid general admission where the floor is standing only with seats in the balconies then so be it. I'm there to see a show not "cheer" on the band.

As far as sporting events go...I like to be able to sit when i chose and then stand up and celebrate at different moments....big plays, scores, defensive stands, etc. etc. I, myself, am perfectly capable of cheering loudly whether I'm sitting or standing. There's no need to constantly stand and act a fool as if every play just won the SuperBowl.

Its pretty simple really.

The organizers of the event get to determine the code of conduct, and those hired to enforce it should be complied with. Otherwise, you're out.

Now if there is some gray area within that code of conduct you need to work it out amongst yourselves. If you can't, then the authorities have to decide.

It makes a little more sense, to me, to try to work out your differences with people instead of just thumbing your nose at them and forcing authority figures to deal with it. That's part of the responsibility that goes with being an adult.

This stuff about so and so should stay home if they don't like my conduct holds absolutely no water. You don't make the rules anymore than the guy sitting behind you.

Yes, people should expect some cursing. I'm sure Little Timmy will have heard worse.

You would be surprised. A game is an hour long. A person will have no trouble standing for that hour of playing time.

A game is NOT an hour long. I'm talking about from kickoff to the time the whistle blows, and everything in between.

A live experience is a live experience. It doesn't only appeal to the people who want to stand or yell.

True, but do you expect people to sit quietly at a football game?

That is why you go to the game. Others go for other reasons. You want them to put up with your reasons, why is it unacceptable to put up with theirs in return?

Ok, so why else would they come if they're NOT going to cheer, clap, yell?

Exactly. It is subjective. So how come you are justified in the line you draw but others are not because their line is different. People's interpretation of a past event will often differ but both speak the truth how they see it. This guy probably saw Theebs standing during those crucial times.

But fans SHOULD be standing during crucial times, is that not right?

Why not?

Because I'd like for us to take advantage of home field and actually make it intimidating ie the Seahawks, Chiefs, Oakland. I can't stand (pun intended :laugh2:) it when I'm the ONLY person in my section clapping or cheering, while the "fans" to my right as kissing and the "fans" are watching with their arms crossed.

I digress......

Ahhh... and thank you for proving KC's point on why they added No Standing as a rule [

I'm guessing you're one of those people huge "fans" that cheer loudly inside of your head. Thanks for the fan support!

And what's to stop someone from abusing the text messaging tattling system by complaining about random people, spamming the same person?

Exactly! If you can't be civil for three hours and be supportive of other peoples views, then sit your old *** home, strap on your wife beater, grab your 7th beer and yell all you like at your giant size entertainment peice that is just you trying to hold desperatly onto you younger dayz.

Wait... Seeing in type like that, I think we are actually on different sides of this discussion. My bad..

Here's the thing I find hard to believe. Some guy goes to a game with his wife. He picks out two guys who is ten rows in front of him. Knowing full well he can see over these guys he decides, with his wife there, to go down and confront TWO guys and order them to sit down. Taking the chance he would get his butt kicked by two guys.

Tell me you don't really believe that do you? Then he says he was so mad he wanted to strangle them but yet, he composed himself and said, "just go sit down and enjoy the game.

So I figure the guy was probably directly behind him and after being asked to sit he either ignored him out of disrespect or flipped him off or something, which then led the man to go tell the usher or security.

That's a lot more plausible than the original story.

Sure. But I can tell you that in my 31 years on earth one of the things I've found is that some people just cannot mind their own business and do crazy things like complain about people standing up when they can see perfectly fine.

Like I stated in another post, I saw a guy get escorted out at an Atlanta Braves game by taunting Bobby Abreu by yelling "Abreu." He was tossed out by another Braves fans. Seriously, what business of his was it to call an usher to throw out a guy who is just yelling out some opposing ball player's last name?

Whatever the truth really is, it wouldn't surprise me. So I still stand by that if the guy was about 10 rows above him, then the guy is a colossal douchebag.
