Another gut curiosity...

Are these agents under heat from their players? Are they trying to get those players to turn their frustration back on the owners?

The risk is on the agents not to establish too low of a market compared to Calvin Johnson for future receivers.

There is no pressure on Dallas or Denver get this done. They're better of not to sign long-term now unless they get a discount.

The agents and the NFLPA are the ones squirming.

Hence, cry foul and claim collusion.

That is what I have been saying.

If Dez wants CJ money at 16m+ then Dallas should just tag him, tag him again and maybe tag him again. Dez' way would mean a 3yr/48m hit on a 7/112m with 45m guaranteed.

Dallas can tag him this year for 12.8m, next year for 15.4m and for 22.1m in 2017. That would be 3/50m with 0m guaranteed.

I keep telling you folks that Jerry and his son are playing with fire. if Dez is forced to play this year under the franchise tag. you may not get the same Dez. so be careful what you wish for. something like this could destroy the season.

Then he would have revealed his true nature, just like Desean Jackson and can be easily let go.

WRs are becoming just as replaceable as RBs.

Story on possible collusion between Cowboys and Broncos:

NFLPA is reviewing information to determine whether there was collusion between the Denver Broncos and Dallas Cowboys on the unsettled contractual situations of franchise WRS Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant, per an NFLPA official. The NFLPA believes the Broncos and Cowboys had contact about each players’ contract when the collective bargaining agreement prohibits such contact. The NFLPA now is trying to determine if collusion did occur and when to possibly file a claim. The deadline for the WRs to sign long-term deals is Wednesday of next week.

Wow, that seems like a stretch and had to have occurred (if at all) more so in the off season owner meetings when speaking of upcoming big contracts, etc. When I first read the thread title I assumed they were speaking of the Dallas org. fabricating the Walmart parking lot video to decrease negotiations.

True nature meaning he was played by JJ/SJ into falling for the "family vibe" of the org. and forcing him to be treated like second class NFL player until he proved himself. Once proven, they play dumb and tell Dez this all about business. Yeah, Dez sure would be a bad guy for feeling a bit scorned in this scenario? Just another thug like Desean:rolleyes:

You could say that about anybody that gets the franchise tag. As I see it there are three things the Cowboys have going for them in regards to ensuring Dez gives his all while franchised.

The first is that Dez is just too damn competitive to intentionally stink it up just because he didn't get the contract he wants. Even if he wanted to play at a lower level I don't think he is capable of doing that once he is in the moment.

Second, if he did that he would not only be screwing over the Cowboys organization but also his teammates. I just don't see him as the kind of guy who would do that to his teammates.

And the biggest reason why neither Dez nor any other franchised player would not give their all is because they are still playing for that big contract once the franchise tag expires. I they suck it up during a franchise year the chances of getting that superstar contract they want drops substantially. Due to this they really are incentivized to keep their play at a high level even if they are unhappy about their contract.

In the end its really not that much risk for the Cowboys.

Keep dreaming. no Murray. no Dez. no playoffs. it's as simple as that., you can fool yourself all you want.this is not going to end well if Dez plays on the tag this year.

He will be earning more in one year(12.8m) than he has made in 5 years combined(11.8m)......the Horror.......

If Dez plays under the franchise tag this year, it essentially becomes a contract year for him, so I think he will be playing as hard as ever.

Dez is not replaceable. The one thing that I will say is that the 6th and 7th seasons of a WR are often their most productive. In my mind, Dez is a very big part of any scenario where we win a Superbowl because he opens it up for the running game and other WR's. He is to offense what Hardy will be to our defense.

Cowboys are playing this right though in that they are not going to over spend for Dez. They can Tag him this year and next year if they have to.

He'd essentially be screwing himself over if he doesn't play to the best of his ability. He may not like getting the tag, and I don't blame him for not liking it, but it's part of the business and he needs to accept it if that's what it comes down to. If he doesn't give 100% effort while on the tag, how does that help his chances in getting the sort of long term contract he seeks? The league will take notice if he's noticeably slacking and his next contract will take a hit because of it.

He can't let his emotions get the best of him in this situation, and he knows it. Ultimately he'll give the same 110% effort he has always given this season, tag or not. And like many others have mentioned, if he is so thick-headed that he can't grasp this, then the Cowboys will have been justified in being cautious with him.

Keep dreaming. no Murray. no Dez. no playoffs. it's as simple as that., you can fool yourself all you want.this is not going to end well if Dez plays on the tag this year.

We didn't make the playoffs the other 4 years with Dez and Murray either... not saying that they weren't key to our success last season. But if for some unforseen reason we don't play with Dez this season (not going to happen), we'll find a way to get by.

I was stuck in a room *****ing with Buzz Aldrin about his place in history.
He wouldn't let me leave!

Just glad your back, you know I was worried about you being held against your will in LAS VEGAS. This one guy I know was missing for 2 weeks then called home for money for a bus ticket. He said he was taken hostage by a group of strippers at a strip club and forced to endure lap dance after Lap Dance, and drink after drink and they took his credit card and charged him for all the booze and lap dances till the card was maxed out. What a story, well he told it to his wife. Funny how he never reported this story to the police, makes you wonder huh ?

That third year could be even more. Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson will have new contracts by then that can impact the numbers in 2017.
