As someone who has gotten into it with a referee or two on the sideline, I can attest, those guys have ego's and are wrong all the time.On an even larger scale, I'd like to know just how many of these blown calls involved the same referee that Garrett was having issues with all game - Scott Edwards. The issues with Garrett started early in the game, well before that incident on Anthony Brown's pass interference call. Edwards actually stopped the game earlier to have Garrett move back to the 20-yard line. Anyone remember the last time they've seen that? And he was clearly antagonistic and unprofessional with his "throw the flag" remark to Garrett. You're a referee tough guy!
And things escalated from that point, largely due to Edward's own actions, behavior, and missed calls. I think he should be getting thoroughly examined by the league for his performance on Sunday.
I submitted some film on one of our poor officials and they gave him a pass. He continued to act like a donkey and started harassing me and my other coaches. He thought he owned us from that point. He talked trash, told us we'll never get a call, etc.
I asked one of the local media members to dress up like a coach and hang out with us during the game. He had a clipboard and wrote down everything the guy said, he recorded some stuff as well. We turned that into the league and that official was suspended the next week and let go a few days later.
I think the issue is that so many coaches complain and gripe that all officials get a pass. When you have a legitimately awful official, the assumption is just another coach whining. If this official (Edwards) is out of line, the Cowboys just have to be diligent and he will be exposed.
