The Cowboys tell us OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN that they don’t overpay on outside free agents so that they can resign their homegrown talent. There is no excuse for any current Cowboy to not get resigned if they help this team win. NONE!!

By the time late round developmental guys become good, they are free agents and want more money than you want to give them.

Yet another problem with the draft only philosophy. Even when you get it right the reward is minimal.
Yep, you pretty much end up becoming the development league for the rest of the league.

Well said.

But…

This team overpays their own.

Lve played great in a contract year, I’m ok drafting his replacement. Wilson is more of a niche player, Id like to keep him. He reminds me of a healthy Jamal Adams.

Instead of embarrassing yourselves with low ball offers, call their Agents and ask them to find the best deal they can for their clients. Then respectfully ask them if you can have an opportunity to match. There is about a 1% chance you can afford to keep Wilson. You may have a shot at LVE.

LVE is replaceable, and DW can be replaced with current depth.
I’d love to keep Wilson. I love what he brings as a player. But you can’t pay top money for him and that’s what he will want
If someone wants to pay that he will be gone

Honestly you could probably replace Wilson with either depth or a cheap trade. I would probably throw a late rounder for Chuck Clark and pay 3m for a similarly player.

They haven't like Wilson since day one. He should have started as a rookie as he was making plays that year in pre-season.

It would be a pretty big loss IMO.

This fan base and team has a fear of letting guys leave. Wilson is a good player. But he is not an All Pro. Some guys need to walk. He is one that if he becomes too expensive you let walk. We have a bunch of young safeties like Bell and Coyle that may can offer us something next season.
Man oh man is this so damn true!!! I don’t get it I truly don’t.

LVE is replaceable
The point is resigning LVE is that 1. you don't have to spend bigger money on a FA to replace him or 2. spend a draft pick on replacing him.

There are more important positions the Cowboys need to spend their FA money and draft picks on.

So yes he is replaceable, but it's smarter to re-sign him.
