When you have Witten ahead of you with 90+ rec, your #1 WR with 80+rec and your #2 WR with 50+ rec there isnt much left for the back up TE. I'm sure Gates, Gonzalez back up didnt do much more. Their #2's #'s may be a little inflated due to injuries to the starters but I'm pretty sure they still arent great #'s.
then that #2 better be good at blocking. and fasano was hardly consistent

bennett was good at run blocking in the preseason game, so lets see if that continues and if his pass blocking improves.

Was anybody pissed when he was instructed to put his helmet on and he took like 30 seconds to put the m *** helmet on? I really don't like this kids attitude so far.

That could have been a result of "editing".;)

I didn't like his answer to Garrett for something they probably prepared him all week for in terms of how Phillips was going to attack him. He was left in a one-on-one assignment to test him and he failed miserably.

He does not appear to retain the information, nor does he appear to be at all that disturbed that he doesn't.

No need to freak out. Just fix the problem.

I think the problem has been known since the second he was drafted.

How do you fix a problem with a player who either cannot or will not retain what he is taught nor appears that bothered that fact?

Threaten him? What can be done to catch his attention? It is clear that harsh language does not work. He has already stated he feels like a beaten mule.

Actually Gates Back up has 4 td's over the last two years so did Gonzalas back up. Im pretty sure both those players are probably considered bust and both have better stats than Fasano. And i don't understand why every ones so high on Fasano, our coaching staff said he wasn't even gonna be the number 2 TE.

Amazing that his attitude seemed even WORSE than it did last week.:banghead:

And it was really troubling to me how Jerry was so gentle in telling Bennett he needed more fire with Magic standing right there. This sweet encouragement isn't working, obviously. Bennett needs his *** kicked, not kissed. I think Alex is right -- give him the Gomer Pyle treatment.

Maybe he'll get the message when he goes back to the grocery store in Dallas and people start throwing tomatoes at him. Yes, Martellus, you're coming off as that big a d-bag.

Dudes........I'm telling you. He's homesick. He's a kid. Who in their right mind would admit, via HBO, they miss their dogs and family? Give him a season, if he doesn't go AWOL, and he'll adjust. It's tough for the spoiled and he's got the world watching.

I just get scared that we have a personality like that in an already wild locker room. A so-good-so-far wild locker room. It could be a cancer...still too early to jump to conclusions, but I hate him.

I dont know him personally so I couldnt really couldnt tell you exactly what to do.

My guess is though and the impression I get by him is he is someone who has always had everything handed to him.

He was given a perfect frame and athleticism.

He was given the title #1 TE in the Nation going into college because of it.

Fran let him do his own thing at A&M. (Dont know that for a fact but it has to be true because he is way un-polished)

He was drafted high because of his physical abilities and walked right onto the best team to play for in the NFL and the team he wanted to play for.

If I were them i'd call him out and find out what kind of competitor he is.

He's been away for 3 weeks. He's a grown man playing professional football, not a 8 year old spending the summer at fat camp.

That's basically what they have been doing, and all he does is sulk more.

Hey, I'm not leaving him for dead just yet, but we all know that if he doesn't even try to get better, he never will. He needs a LOT of refinement before he can even get on the field, and if he's going to ignore his coach, how can he improve?

I love how you conveniently left out the fact that they had fewer receptions and significantly fewer yards. But hey, whatever helps your agenda, right?

Im pretty sure both those players are probably considered bust and both have better stats than Fasano.

Perhaps by people like yourself, but most rational fans would simply realize that they're role players...not superstars, regardless of where they were drafted.

So high on Fasano? Who? People simply don't buy into the 'he sucks' analytical philosophy, and they're suddenly the founders of his fan club? I don't think so.

our coaching staff said he wasn't even gonna be the number 2 TE.

I've never seen a staff member come out and say this. Can you provide a link? Not that it wasn't true, because Curtis has shown some decent potential, but as far as I know, this is purely speculation by fans and some media members.

I think if any of us were even married to Jessica Alba and had Lassie as a pet - if we were handed 1 million guaranteed to play for God's Dallas Cowboys, we'd forget our home life pretty fast!

Its like this. We have Tony Curtis. We know what he can do.

Worst case scenario the guy is eventually cut in a few years and we just miss out on another 2nd round pick. Its not a big deal.

He has round 1, top 15, physical talent and potential to be one of the best.

We knew he was a little lazy going into this. If we cant fix it then big deal. Hes definetely worth the risk with those measurables but losing him eventually is not a big deal.

Hell, I would divorce Alba, shoot Lassie and play for free to play for the Cowboys.

Spare me the homesick/trouble at home Bennett excuses. That smug glance back at the camera after Garrett walked away was blatant disrespect from a coddled prima donna who thinks he's too cool to be coached. He's clearly too stupid to realize or care that the entire team and coaching staff will watch him on TV and come away with the same negative impression that the rest of America is developing. Totally agree that the tender JJ/Magic Johnson pep talk is worthless on this type of attitude. The Cowboys have enough control over this production to keep his act on the cutting room floor until he shows some commitment to the game. Time will tell if he's a bust or not. For now, he's a third-string TE with an arrow pointing down.
