The more I consider Norm's point, the more validity I find in it.

Since the Cowboys 3-0 start last season, they've gone 7-8. Most Cowboys starters are in their late 20s and early 30s -- well into their primes. They certainly aren't rebuilding; there is no great, young talent being groomed behind the starters, and the Cowboys drafted entirely for depth and special teams this season.

This team is as it's going to be for next few years (unless Jerry takes it apart and starts over), and that seems to be about .500.

Sobering thought.
Felix is a cornerstone if his legs hold up.

Look no further than the Steelers - Bears today to see how different football can be played.

Every single tackle by a Steeler defensive back was a monster hit. Physical, tough game on both sides.. guys being laid out all over the field.. serious hard ***** football.

Mike Tomlin before the Tennessee game "the most violent team tonight will win'.. that is football.

We do not play like that, there is no urgency anywhere on the field.. don't know who to blame, coaches?, players?

Not the point.. its how they play.. Bears played the same way.. its what we never see from our team.

Guarantee you if we had given the effort the Bears and Steelers had given today we would have won.

If Dallas isn't that good, what are the Giants? Aren't they supposed to be the class of the NFC? And they needed +4 on turnover margin and a last-second field goal to win.

Who is the class of the AFC? The Patriots? The Steelers? The teams that lost to the Jets and Bears?

We need a little perspective up in here.

Good post as usual.

I do think that Norm is right in that we aren't the super-talented team some claim we are, especially on defense. I really have never understood why people think otherwise.

The entire NFL is designed for parity. To get ahead of the game, you have to hit on cheap free agents or non-premium draft picks, and we really haven't done that to any unusual degree. We've done okay, but nothing special.

We're still a good team that will win its share of games, but like most NFL teams, we have to play our best or near-best to beat the better teams. That's just the way it is.

and to add to that all it takes is a hot run ( see Cardinals, Arizona 2008) at the right time to make some noise in the playoffs.

not every single tackle - and look at the Balt win today it was Ray Ray making the tackle on the fourth down

I will tell you we need another young hungry coach
who will not put up with this stuff
like Jenkins always going for shoulder tackle

I mean a coach like Jimmy would fire them if they don't do what they are told

but thats why they all want those long term deals - so they can lay down - I am pretty sick of it and its only get wosre -
I think I saw the best football back in the 70's thru the 90's -

look at all world Al Hayneworth you still think he is worth a 100 mil - LMAO

I don't think Ware is worth 40 Mil right now

his contract number has shot way down IMO

Look.. i get so frustrated.

We cannot tackle and we are not physical!

I don't know who taught our team technique but they forgot the basics.

Few, if any, tackle properly.. head up, through the players, wrap up etc..

Know why this team doesn't force turnovers, despite the large number of sacks.. we don't hit!.. we don't try to strip, we are just a soft soft team ,and have been one for sometime.

Look at Johnsons' Cowboys.. talented yes, but physical, you bet.

Woodson, Washington, Norton etc.. arggh.. i just don't think we are being taught to play in a hard hitting physical manner.

Folks on this board keep saying that we need to get rid of this and that guy, but lets face it, we are stuck with the players we have for at least the next 2-3 seasons AT LEAST. If I'm not mistaken, the following players are signed long term deals of 5 or more years. We can't go into the offseason and release more than 2 of these guys or our team will be devastated by the Cap.

Signed in 2008
T New 5yr - 50 mil
Flozell 6yr - 43 mil
Barber 7yr - 45 mil
Hamlin 6yr - 40 mil

Signed in 2007
Tony Romo 6yr - 69 mil
Biggs 7yr 50

Am I forgetting anyone? **** fellas, lets face it, we all cheer for a bunch of high priced, soft ***, losers! It doesn't matter who coaches these players at this point.

I swear, you people sicken me. We had four turnovers and were still in a very good position to win the game. Despite the mistakes, it took a last second FG for the team picked by everyone to win our division to beat us. Now all of a sudden we're not even a good team? Do you really think we're going to turn the ball over 4 times every night? Teams have games like this, they get over it and move on. Some of you guys are truly out of touch with reality and it's a shame you label yourselves fans of this team.

Let's see how you fare.

I had been saying it since last year . . . wore one of those suits . . . and still had to get out of the heat. It was Chernobyl sized heat from the rah-rah club.

This team is average at best. And will be until the big 4 issues are addressed: talent at critical positions, better coaching, fire and discipline in the team (and it needs to be from the coaching staff as well as the players), improved front office (Jerry is not a GM).

As long as we have any or all if these issues we WILL be average.

We had 4 turnovers and that's a big part of why we lost the game. Period.

Basically said that the hardest thing for fans to admit/realize is that their team just isn't that good.

I think that's where we are as a franchise. All that talk of us being so "talented" is a such of BS. I feel like this team just doesn't have that killer instinct you need to win big games like tonight. We don't have enough impact players on defense, our QB turns the ball over at the worst times, and bad coaching usually catches up to us.

Norm also said that fans want to make excuses and nit pick on the little things, but don't want to admit that their team just isn't good.

The Dallas Cowboys are not a good football team. You can blame the penalties, turnovers, the QB, offensive coordinator, head coach/defensive coordinator, owner/GM, secondary, pass rush, WR's; but the bottom line is we're a mediocre team that will probably finish 8-8.

I say it all the time. I call it like I see it. Romo isn't that good and a good QB like Eli will find the open holes. If Steve Smith and Mario Manningham can produce like Fitz and Anquan... we are in trouble.

Romo for whatever cant make the easy throws and hit his guys in stride. He escapabilty makes him look better than he really is. He did the same thing last year (missing guys in stride) and once again is costing the team. Point the finger at him and soft coverage.
