Norm on KTCK 1310AM The Ticket: Roy Williams - cut him

hurd has no trade value whatsoever and I wouldn't call him one of the best slot receivers but he's not the explosive game breaker that we need at the position that would put us over the top.

We need a game breaker at the 2nd reciever position. We'd be very hard pressed to find a better slot reciever than Crayton.

We don't need a game-breaker. Just someone who will convert at least 55-60% (60% preferably) at least, of directed passes into receptions.

I understand that and agree with you, but that won't happen this year which is my point. Cayton or hurd or whoever will be let go before williams this year is what i'm trying to say.

Someone who runs the right routes and doesn't drop the ball.

God what a loser.

Someone needs to "Hook" Roy Williams.

He thinks he still goes to UT. Have you seen him celebrate his touchdowns?

I wish Detroit would take him back.

Uh, yeah.

Can't believe we got screwed by Matt Millen of all people...

That was a rhetorical question....

Jerry loves trading for recievers. You would think he learned from Galloway but I guess not. Raped again...

Jerry was on GAC for what seemed like a half hour today -- surprised there's not a thread on it -- but they asked him about Roy and Jerry said they have to do a better job of adjusting to what Roy does best. Meaning routes, it sounded like.

Oh, and Jerry said Miles *will* be a Cowboy. Jerry said no way is he getting away.

:laugh2:*in best Jersey accent* OH...MY...GAWD

I guess the only route Roy will be running next year is the slant route.

He runs the best routes.

Was there even a chance he wouldn't be a Cowboy?

Not this year, but they were asking him about a longer term deal. Jerry wasn't even bothering to play poker about how we have to keep him.

Jerry better not play poker with Austin. You pay the man whatever it takes to lock him for a long long time.

Cap is not an issue this year and I think it would be in Dallas best interest to give this trade every oppertunity they can to make it work. Easy to throw your hands up and walk away but I don't think it is in the teams best interest. I do think this is a make or break season for Williams

I think the Dallas coaches and Jerry Jones have to go into the preseason with the mind-set that the player who performs the best gets the starting job, no matter what Williams is being paid or what expectations they have for him.

I'm all for Dallas giving him every opportunity to succeed, but he's got to either seize the chance given to him or have it seized from him. No more free passes.

I am sorry but as disappointed as I have been in Roy's play.

I do not cut a guy who had a bad year and still caught 7 TD's.

It too soon.

It took awhile but my cooler head has indeed prevailed... As much as it pains me to do so, I totally agree with this stance. Roy better work this **** out though and come correct next year!

I think it will take more than Roy working it out. The coaches need to study what went right and what went wrong. Romo and Williams need to study what happened on certain routes when Roy adjusted one direction and Tony threw the other.

There are things to be done by all parties involved.

Something doesn't jive. I'd have a sit down with Roy, Tony, and Jason to see what all 3 have to say. Then I give it one more season with the understanding that if he doesn't produce like a #1 then either he restructures his contract or we get rid of him.

Prediction: RW has 75 Receptions 1,150 yds 9 TD's

35-562-4
36-777-5
38-613-2

That is what the other starting WR opposite Michael Irvin did in our 3 Super Bowl winning seasons back in the 1990's.

Now, explain to me how that was a embarrassment and held those teams back from winning championships.

Was Roy Williams brought in to deliver 38 catches?

I don't think so.

He was brought here to be the lead dog, the #1. The go-to guy.

Everyone who follows this team knows that.

Just because Austin saved this team's hide doesn't make the disappointment over Roy Willimas' lack of productivity any more acceptable.

And if memory serves, the Cowboys never paid Alvin Harper starter's money - or in Williams' case, tyop 10 receiver money.

They left that mistake to the Bucs.

This time, they made the mistake.
