Not Having Zeke Hurt Us This Game

Let me tell you what happens with Zeke in there. We get a bunch of 2-3 yard runs which forces the game into Dak’s hands. We get a bunch of 3-and-outs and our already tired defense is running on fumes because we can’t sustain a drive.

Exactly. It was entirely the kind of stupidity you'd expect from Moore. Davis looked like a bruiser in there, and he was hungry. Better limit his touches, especially at the end.

Davis is 205 pounds.. He runs tough but he is actually SMALLER than Pollard. He just looks bigger cause he's shorter and thicker. I do love his running style though.. A year in the program should muscle him up another 5-10 pounds and he should be a nice 5'10" 215 pound inside runner for this team. And we have yet to see maybe his best attribute which is that he runs routes and catches the ball like a receiver. I just hope they don't go overboard and bulk him up to 220 0r 225 so he loses that burst. We've seen the Cowboys do that more than once..

I know some people are blaming Prescott, but I don't see it that way. It all came down to the 4th quarter. They were 14 points up in the 4th quarter and you allow one of the best in the game to split your cheeks, down the middle of the field.

Not cool. I felt like we could have had this team if we had unloaded Zeke on them to wear the defense down. And it was really the defense that put the Packers back in it.

Dallas missed Zeke this game. More than even I would have imagined. But I can say without a doubt that the Cowboys missed Zeke Elliot today.

Wha??? Dallas had no problem and has had no problem running the ball without Zeke. In fact, Pollard has improved the run game by a wide margin. The problem is the play calling. Zeke's 4 yard dives into the defense help nobody.

Yeah, Zeke the savior.

Zeke is not a miracle worker, he most likely won't win a game on his own. But do not under-estimate what a heavy pounder like Zeke does to wear a defense down. It's take a little wind out of their sails come 4th quarter. They are a step slower, already a bit sore. That slows down a pass rush, and helps open holes for guys like Pollard.

What has improved the run game by a wide margin is three weeks in a row of playing bottom 5 rush defenses. The Vikings are more middle of the pack against the run so that should be interesting if Zeke sits out again. No logical person believes a healthy Zeke would not have feasted against the Bears and Packers. After all when healthy he averaged over 5 ypc against the Bucs and Eagles.. who both have MUCH better fronts that these last three chumps. But to his credit Pollard did well again yesterday.. to the surprise of no one. The Packers have struggled to stop the run all season.. Why would they suddenly have gotten better yesterday? I man the Cowboys have struggled to stop the run all season.. and they didn't.

So did Dak's 5 of 16 for 58 yards his last 4 offensive drives help GB?

They can continue working Pollard this hard every week and he will be useless in the last third of the season.
They won’t have to , if they use Davis to spell him. Davis could have been used much more yesterday as he like Pollard were poised to break a long one. Moore decided it was better to pass than control the clock and wear the Packers down.

Maybe. Don't you find it ironic that when the backup was in, we ran the ball a ton more and won games?
Cooper had about 30 attempts in most games. One with under 20 and one near 40 vs Philly, where if you watched the game was a situation we had no choice. I wouldn't say a ton, but to your point we're right back at getting on and off the field too quickly.
To me, if you're up 2 TDs, the play calling and scheme should adjust accordingly.

And it's so obvious. We watched Emmit pound our way to 3 super bowls. How do people miss this?

And who does Zeke feast on? nobody. Pollard is better by every metric....... except dollars paid per game.

Pollard has had 28 carries in the 4th quarter this year.
He's averaging 7.04 on those carries.

Yesterday, in the 4th quarter, he had:
1. 4 yards left
2. 7 yards left
3. 4 yards right side
4. 1 yard middle
5. 3 yards left
6. 10 yards middle

6 carries for 29 yards.

Sooooooooooo, you didn't notice the lack of drive sustaining in the 4th yesterday?
