Not Having Zeke Hurt Us This Game

Zeke is not a miracle worker, he most likely won't win a game on his own. But do not under-estimate what a heavy pounder like Zeke does to wear a defense down. It's take a little wind out of their sails come 4th quarter. They are a step slower, already a bit sore. That slows down a pass rush, and helps open holes for guys like Pollard.

Yep. You nailed it.
Oh, so that was Pollard’s fault?

Luuulz, smh.

You're missing the point, though....

Wrong. The Cowboys lacking attitude, passion, and intelligence costs us this game. Zeke being in does absolutely nothing. This team stinks so bad God can smell it.
Agreed, I'm waiting on Tolbert to change the culture as he stated he would do after we drafted him. I also think our "tackling" skills could use some polish. The last 2 games we were in position to make stops and tfl but the ball carrier always would break tackles and gain positive yards.

Hilarious that you types continue to stick up for Zeke. Even after pollard goes for 250 yards and 4 TD's over the last two games without him. Dak hasnt gotten killed and Pollard handled a full load today. And he still averaged over 5 ypc in both games. Lots of myths busted in the last two weeks.

If Zeke played in this game the Cowboys probably get blown out.

I thought Davis played nicely to be honest lol

dak eats dic sacks bra

That's because Dak is a bus driver. There is nothing wrong with him being a bus driver. He can be a damn good player if he understood that he, like Cooper Rush, is a bus driver.

The Cowboys tried to get away from the identity of their team, which is a team that pounds the ball with Zeke and allows the defense to control the tempo.

Yesterday, we went into the game with a different mentality. Not that same ground team we've seen before.. and it hurt everybody, including Dak.

I thought Davis played nicely to be honest lol

He certainly did play well for his first couple games getting some chances. But he didn't have the effect Zeke has. And they didn't use the RBs enough in general. And that cost them when it mattered.

Lol. Was there a different Packers-Cowboys game than I watched yesterday? The one I saw had the Cowboys running at will all day long. 27 carries for 153 yards between Davis and Pollard.

As others noted, the flaw yesterday (and it was a huge one) was steadfast unwillingness to use it. 46 passes and 27 runs in a game you are winning and running well is patently nuts. Moore should be fired today but that's been true for quite some time.
Unless it's not Moore.

True, but we also have way too many RB's coming thru w/ a full head of steam that should've been slowed down and were not.

I think it might be Dak getting pass happy. Didn't happen when the backup was in.

I doubt it, when he checks out of plays it’s usually
going from pass to run. I’d guess around 75% plus of him calling “kill” is changing to run.

I think Kellen is the problem.

I know some people are blaming Prescott, but I don't see it that way. It all came down to the 4th quarter. They were 14 points up in the 4th quarter and you allow one of the best in the game to split your cheeks, down the middle of the field.

Not cool. I felt like we could have had this team if we had unloaded Zeke on them to wear the defense down. And it was really the defense that put the Packers back in it.

Dallas missed Zeke this game. More than even I would have imagined. But I can say without a doubt that the Cowboys missed Zeke Elliot today.

I don't think Zeke playing would have changed this game outcome. But agree it wasn't all on Dak, but we gotta stick to the run to protect the lead.

That's counter to what I've heard.

However, I'm not into the blaming thingie. I don't care. This is on Jerry. He's the GM, so fix it.

It doesn't matter who it's on. The culprit was suddenly deciding that we need to prolifically pass in the 4th w/ a two score lead. Whomever made that decision is the culprit.

I thought Davis looked good, was a nice surprise. That run of his had us down to the GB 26 - but was called back on an iffy holding call. First and ten from GB 26 instead of the 3rd and 4th down incomplete passes we got.

You may be letting your emotions get the better of you here. The Cowboys never had the ball with a two score lead. The Packers scored a TD immediately after the Cowboys went up 28-14. The next possession featured 4 runs and 4 passes. Two of the passes were on 3rd and long. One was complete, one wasn't. If any call was questionable it was the first down pass to start the drive which was incomplete. But two plays later they had a first down.. so that call cost them nothing. Now the sideways pass to Gallup for 0 yards could also be questioned.. but that's pretty much an extended run and it kept the clock moving. The next two possessions were in two minute after the Packers had gone on another long drive to tie it.

I think if you were going to go for it on 4th anyway then you should have run it on 3rd. Pollard and Davis were eating most of the day.. but I'd have to rewatch to see if they had come really run heavy on defense there..

I agree with you- if they had already decided they would go for it on 4th down if they did not get it on 3rd down, then a run on 3rd down would have made the most sense.

You’re going to get hammered for this post, but I agree with you. People underestimate what Zeke’s style of running does to opposing defenses by the time the 4th quarter rolls around.
