Not Having Zeke Hurt Us This Game

Sooooooooooo, you didn't notice the lack of drive sustaining in the 4th yesterday?

IMO that was more on play calling/design of passing plays.
The drive before Green bay tied it up we had 9 plays.
Pollard had 4 carries for 16 yards. They had no issues running it.
We also had the famed quick WR pass that went for no gain followed by a short run and then on 3rd down it was an incompletion.

The following drive, we had two incompletions and a run for 3 yards.

:huh:Pollard & Davis were doing great. Davis broke off the nice run that was nullified by a questionable penalty. Might well have been the play that ruined our chances. Right or wrong on how got there but we got behind on down & distance & had to put it in the QB's hands.

I have always appreciated Zeke but I don't see him changing anything yesterday.

And it's so obvious. We watched Emmit pound our way to 3 super bowls. How do people miss this?

Well, Zeke is no Emmitt, not with this O-line at least, but he does help soften up the defense. Even those who want Pollard to start should realize this.

I know some people are blaming Prescott, but I don't see it that way. It all came down to the 4th quarter. They were 14 points up in the 4th quarter and you allow one of the best in the game to split your cheeks, down the middle of the field.

Not cool. I felt like we could have had this team if we had unloaded Zeke on them to wear the defense down. And it was really the defense that put the Packers back in it.

Dallas missed Zeke this game. More than even I would have imagined. But I can say without a doubt that the Cowboys missed Zeke Elareliot Intoday.

Injuries are a part of the game.

Zeke changes nothing yesterday.

I don't understand how you can state that with certainty. Zeke pounding the D-line could well have made a difference late. I like Pollard and yes Davis looked great, but neither are the heavy load Zeke is.

B/c we ran for 150+ and his replacement averaged 7 ypc. Maybe he would’ve helped in pass pro but that’s about it.

Why are they playing this guy elite money then? The packers are a piss poor team and this cheap QB got rattled.

I understand Dak had a bad game.

It happens to the best teams.

I'm just talking about how we could have had more control at the end of the game and that defense wouldn't have been so peppy. Having to tackle Zeke is not fun. So it makes you think about different things in those situations, even if he isn't in there during that play. Just my theory. I thought we needed a guy like Ollison.

In some ways, I kind of think that McCarthy thought that if there were a good game to lose, this would be it. Pretty sure that is why they sat Zeke.

You get to expose your team to the experience of a HOF QB making a comeback and your team gets first-hand experience of what it's like to be in the NFL, on Any Given Sunday, so that your team understands why every game is important.

In any case, now we see how/why this team goes as Zeke goes.

Yup. I've been done w/ Z for some time now. It's not him we need, but we do need a nasty power back to side Pollard.

Zeke changes nothing yesterday. Run game was fine and Davis fresh legs had 7 ypc.

Problem was boy genius got pass happy late and our defense choked.
I think it might be Dak getting pass happy. Didn't happen when the backup was in.

I don’t think it hurt us on the field because Davis ran the ball well. It may have hurt us in calling more runs but we did run the ball 31 times. I would have liked to have seen a few more though

Lol. Was there a different Packers-Cowboys game than I watched yesterday? The one I saw had the Cowboys running at will all day long. 27 carries for 153 yards between Davis and Pollard.

As others noted, the flaw yesterday (and it was a huge one) was steadfast unwillingness to use it. 46 passes and 27 runs in a game you are winning and running well is patently nuts. Moore should be fired today but that's been true for quite some time.

But we still lost. My point is, him pounding the D-line can change the course of a game late in the 4th. It can help you get extended drives, longer runs by guys like Pollard. It's football 101 but has been lost it seems in these pass happy days.

Not having a competent OC and a elite QB is what hurt us. We needed to run the ball both in the 4th quarter and in the last two plays of OT. Davis and Pollard were picking up chunks. Both D's were spent. If Doogie Howser would have just stayed with running game I have no doubt either Pollard or Davis would have broken one for the EZ. But for some reason this organization seems think at crunch time Dak will deliver.

We needed those 4 yards, and I can count on Zeke giving us 2 yards at best. That still wouldn't have been enough. Everything else is pure speculation.

We threw on 3rd and 4th down when we needed only 4 yds. Look at the ydg avg per run from Pollard and Davis. The point of this forum is speculation
