Now you all see why blaming Dak's contract was foolish, right?

LOL!!!!!! No matter how you spin it Dak's contract is horrible. His contract is just one of the bad (worst) decisions by the Jones boys. None of the current players will be playing in a NFC championship game for the Cowboys. The Cowboys won't get to the Superbowl with the Jones boys running the team.
Congrats. Sounds like you're not dumb enough to think Dak's contract is the reason they're cheap idiots.

Nobody's pretending Dak hasn't sucked in some huge playoff moments. Last year vs GB was beyond awful.

But he entered 2024 coming off an All-Pro year. You don't have to like him, but All-Pro QBs get paid by their respective teams. Look around the league. It's just not realistic to gripe about that.

Your plan was to apparently let him walk, save that money and draft a new QB?

Cool. Even if he's good, Jerry and Stephen will be cheap and stupid, likely resulting in more early playoff exits.

Just wait till after the season. If he repeats his stats and looks like he’s healthy, give him the bag. Not all QB’s age gracefully. Dak is not necessary to winning in future seasons from all appearances. Yes, I agree Jerry/Stephen likely mess up whatever good happens with a young QB. I’m saying that it’s perfectly fine to let a QB contract play out, even without another QB ready to take over. Moves like that just scream-“I’m not comfortable trying to find a capable QB.” It was not a victory for the team to just push forward with the same formula. Just like it does not feel like the team is going for big changes-even with the disappointing season.

You're not wrong, but Dak had them over a barrel because they couldn't franchise him again.

It is what it is. Eagles are paying $51M/year for their QB but decided they'd surround him with an incredible roster.

I just wish the idiots who run our team wanted to win that badly.

Dak and jalen are on the same level. I have no patience debating anybody thinking otherwise. Jalen has a top 3 oline, top 3 rb and top 3 defense. Just............nevermind
Dak had them all but sucked.. also had Kellen Moore who dropped over 50 on the Commanders in the NFC championship game…

He has never, not for an instance, played well enough to be paid top of the pyramid money.
So yes, it was always going to be complained about & rightfully so.
Someone doesn't know how contracts work with a salary cap that rises every year.

And even if he made $55M rather than $60M, the Jones idiots would've been just as cheap elsewhere.

Your anger is misplaced.

I don't think anyone is arguing with you about the Jones being incompetent & cheap elsewhere.

Part of being incompetent is giving Dak that contract though.

They think giving big contracts to a few players will distract \ fool the fans ...& they have been correct for a long time but that time seems to have come to an end.

Dak didn't play well this year. No doubt.

I'd still rather have a QB who I know can ball out in the regular season, like Dak has done for most of his career.

QB purgatory sucks. Commanders got lucky and those results aren't typical.
Thats fine and there are plenty of people who would agree with you, I just disagree on a fundamental level. I think this is more so how NFL owners view it simply because the safer route locking up your QB is typically the safer financial option. I think the Cowboys basically are in QB purgatory now. There really doesn't seem to be a shortage of QBs who can do well when surrounded by top talent in this league. Even if you dont want to go the rookie route it seems that every year a Goff, Mayfield, Darnold, Smith etc. is available for the taking. I don't think its ever been less risky to gamble on moving on from a QB unless that player is truly a game changer which i only see maybe 3-5 of those types right now. Its a league where the rules favor offense, and QB play has largely been dumbed down pre snap.

The Jones boys weren't cheap on Daks massive contract mistake.
Actually, they were.

Why do you think they waited until the 1st Sunday of the regular season to sign him?

Answer: To trick simpletons into thinking their cheapness in free agency was because of Dak's contract.

In reality, Dak's new contract LOWERED his 2024 cap hit. I'm sure you didn't know that.

Consider yourself suckered!

Neither of which played/ coached like they were top 3 in the playoffs, it wasnt just Dak.

Kellen has learned alot and got better at situational football since he was here.

I know Jerry loves him some Dak and will do anything to make Dak happy.
Plus I really think Jerry has definitely lost a lot off his fastball over the last few seasons and it’s just going to get worse.
Then you are stupider than I gave you credit. I stand corrected

I did know that. It's not just about 2024. As it stands now Daks cap hit next season is almost 90 million. They will kick the can down the road but even then his cap hit will be over 50 million next season. They will pay for Daks contract years after he is gone.
They were not cheap with Daks contract just stupid. They did wait too long, but at that point they should have let him hit the market. No other team would have given him that contract. They could have signed him cheaper or let him go. He is going to be 32, injury prone, cant run, cant stay healthy.
