Yeah I wasn't sure how they did that. I didn't get into it deep enough to understand how they forced that.
Owner recorded saying the "N" word multiple times, critiquing his GF for inviting Magic Johnson to games (calling him a "N" repeatedly), and using the "N" in reference to fans. Senile, hated by the league for 3 decades, and considered a pariah for not putting any money into his team, only to cash out. But most of all, known league-wide as a racist.

Once the tape leaked between his GF and him (illegally recorded, but released nonetheless after GF sold it to TMZ once she didn't get her demands), his players were taking off their jerseys before games and threatened to not play. And this is when the Clippers were good, in liberal LA.

Nothing like the Jerry vs. Goodell dealio. Any comparison is nonsense. Lazy.

His wife forced the sale, and he got a record $3 Billion, which resulted in him dropping his lawsuit against the NBA.

His shadiness goes back to years and years of owning shab apartments and the "look" of taking advantage of minorities (how he acquired his initial wealth to buy the Clippers).

This is nothing like the JJ situation. Nothing.

All this talk of disinterest in the league....I wonder if we were healthy and none of our players were suspended and we were sitting with an 8-1 record if people would be so "disinterested."

I'm sure people will say they watched in 2015 but...words are easy to say especially when you can't prove the negative.

Just an observation.
Well 2 weeks ago we were on the upswing and had just beat KC. Everything looked pretty good and I was still dissatisfied with the league. Haven't watched any non Cowboy football game since week 2. I don't know about what I'll do next year but I doubt I'll watch more games. I'm just sick of the league in general.

Similar to how the NBA forced the former Clippers owner to sell. There are bylaws with the league agreement which could force the issue.

The Cowboys are a franchise within the league. And there are certain rules they must abide by. For example, if a McDonalds franchise owner in Texarcana Texas unilaterally decides to sell steaks, Chinese food, pizza and whale blubber from his store without permission from McDonald's, McDonalds can pull the franchise from the owner. Something similar would happen here

But there would be years, maybe decades of litigation before there would be a sale. It won't happen.

Good points.

Would think if it came down to it the owners would speak up when they realize they’d be losing a big part of their profit share in cowboys. With all this said this just kills everything for me.
Maybe they're tired (and jealous) of the Cowboys being such a large and innovative part of everything - ratings, profit, facilities, etc. They even lead the league in artwork and charity promotion (Salvation Army). Maybe the owners still want the money, but they want the structure of things to change. The problem is the Cowboys are the big draw and the owers are damn fools if they don't realize they benefit from it.

These owners just didn't decide they wanted a fractured league.
They are just tired of Jones having a hissy fit because he drafted a great running back who beat a girl. And he might do it again. Yes, I know, I know. The biblical Zeke was not convicted. Neither was O.J., but the public knows the score about what he "didn't do."
Get over it, Jerry.
You want your own league? Go for it!
Take a year or two off, then just wait for the fans to come thundering back in gratitude.
Um, no, it doesn't work that way.
It seems that the HOF induction has gone to Jones' head. So, Jerry, after you wreck the league, the NFL can uninduct what it inducted. You want that? Nope, didn't think you did, you narcissistic old biddy.
Beat a girl? Boy bye. If proof comes out that Zeke did that, I'll lead the charge to suspend him for an additional year. Until then, stop saying he did something he wasn't even charged with, especially since the accusation came from a proven liar.

So you think Goodell deserves that huge of an extension right now considering the state of affairs in the NFL right now? So you feel the NFL having the equivalent of a kangaroo court is good for the league and fair to it's players? If you do, then I am not sure what world you live in but contracts have to have some form of equivalency in that the work deserves such a contract.
You use OJ as an example but your reasoning is flawed. Yes we all believe oj was guilty but do I blame him for getting off, no. It is the fault of the prosecutors for not presenting the evidence and enough of it to convince a jury. That is our system of Justice and while it is not perfect it is the absolute best. There is a reason justice has to be thorough and sound before a man is convicted so that guys like Zeke who I believe is innocent can't be thrown in jail based on people who just think he should be there. NFL is not a courtroom and should leave legal matters to people who deal with legal matters. Football is ALL I want on Sundays, nothing else.

No.
Yes.
Deep down, You like OJ, dontcha?:D
The NFL is not a courtroom. It is a labor-management fixture like at chicken processing plant you work at, old fellow.
All you want is football on Sunday? Tell that to her Grandpa Jerry.

This is what I'm thinking, too, Mamacita. Is this some pushback to lower the Boys influence and even out the net worth of the teams? LOL Wouldn't surprise me with these moronic billionaires.

It won't work. All it's doing is making Jerry more "in the news"

He's Al Davis x10, if that's what they want. Al never had the influence that Jerry does, after about '85. The Cowboys are an institution. And Jerry hasn't broken any of the unwritten rules.

And you also believe OJ he never beat his wife. He also beat the rap, mommy.

I remember a time when the NFL was actually primarily about a contest that took place on a field between two teams.

I'm not sure what it's actually about anymore.
sideshow bob is all the NFL is anymore. drama i never watched on TV.

As the NFL Turns!!!

sucks these days and 90% of what we hear about ISN'T the game itself.

The NFL have rules in place to force the sale of a franchise.
The NBA have rules in place to force the sale of a franchise.
These statements are true, but no league rule can override a court of law. So while the leagues may have rules in place, a court could easily overrule those rules if they are seen to be applied in an unfair/illegal manner.

Exactomundo bro....this is nothing like Jerry. Jerry has helped the league so much and he's not a racist.

I agree @Trouty that jerrys issues with the league are totally different and it would be a huge problem for the league to try to force a sale. Almost impossible in my opinion and how do you induct Jerry into the HOF last year and then say he's detrimental to the league this year. Everything Jerry is proposing is reasonable. Goodell has only completed 63% of his current contract, let's slow down on rushing to extend him etc.

In regards to @Direwolf63 point that there are rules that can allow the league to force a sale. This is true, but I personally believe that the threshold has been met. Jerry has been great for the cowboys and league in general and it's not like current or ex players have a lot of bad stuff to say about him. If anything I hear more stories of how good he treats the players.
