This just wreaks of goodells butt boy Mara. Honestly my level of interest in the NFL has gone down to a record low. Jerry should just take the owners on his side and start a new league. https://www.___GET_REAL_URL___/www....ve-jerry-jones-owner-report-article-1.3635937

That would be a horrible move, IMO. Look at how much money the NFL is making for Jerry. Then look at the history of every competing league the NFL has faced.

I would never do that if I were Jerry. JMO

Similar to how the NBA forced the former Clippers owner to sell. There are bylaws with the league agreement which could force the issue.

The Cowboys are a franchise within the league. And there are certain rules they must abide by. For example, if a McDonalds franchise owner in Texarcana Texas unilaterally decides to sell steaks, Chinese food, pizza and whale blubber from his store without permission from McDonald's, McDonalds can pull the franchise from the owner. Something similar would happen here

But there would be years, maybe decades of litigation before there would be a sale. It won't happen.

Not even close to being the same, All of Sterling's players were protest him as a owner, they were threatening to sit and not play, his girlfriend outed him with recording of him making racist statements to blacks, and his entire team was black. Jerry has done more for the league than any owner and just named a HOF for what he did for the league. They don't have a leg to stand on and nothing Jerry's doing is a detriment to the league. It can be that the precedent Goodell set in the Zeke saga is more of a detriment, if he continues to suspend players with no evidence to do so.

The NFL have rules in place to force the sale of a franchise.
The NBA have rules in place to force the sale of a franchise.

How hard is this to understand?

Of course, the situations are totally different. I never said otherwise.

This is nothing like Sterling or your weird analogy.

Irrelevant.

There are rules within the NFL that could force a sale under the correct circumstances.
You think the owners want to set a precedent for Commish or other owners being ousted by their peers for simply going against the grain.

You are insufferable in how you question posters, when most of the time you are wrong. Bichon Frise

Forcing Jerry to sell the team would require unanimous approval from all owners. Not the committee or the commissioner.

Would also take about 20 years of legal battles. I mean, this is nothing, in and of itself. However, I would not be surprised if all of this letter writing is an attempt to position the league for future actions. I mean, I don't see Jerry losing the team but I do see the league doing this kind of stuff so that they can provide themselves cover for any objections Jerry might have, later down the line. It's only a matter of time before this escalates IMO. It's going to become more and more discernible that the League is singling out certain things.

Get it?
Sterling was caught (legal or otherwise) saying racist comments about players (to include the great Magic Johnson) and was facing a revolt from his own team, willing to not play. Jerry is suing the league to stop a madman from getting an extension. These things are not similar. At. All.

Your McDonalds analogy is way off and speaks of your knee-jerk, small brain.

But puppies have small brains.

Don't leave, Bichon Frise. Address my points as I have yours. And maybe keep it within the realms of the argument, rather than addressing my undying love for Jameis, boy

All this talk of disinterest in the league....I wonder if we were healthy and none of our players were suspended and we were sitting with an 8-1 record if people would be so "disinterested."

I'm sure people will say they watched in 2015 but...words are easy to say especially when you can't prove the negative.

Just an observation.

You're absolutely right, Toruk. It's the same way in hockey. Next year when we're winning, all this noise will die down.

The NBA forced whats-his-name to sell the Clippers. Maybe the same could apply in the NFL. Of course Jerry hasn’t done anything extreme enough to deserve that.

Yeah I wasn't sure how they did that. I didn't get into it deep enough to understand how they forced that.

There are rules and regulations that the owner has to live by. Just like Steinbrenner being suspended from the league in 1990 or Donald Sterling being forced to sell the Clippers.

The issue here is that Steinbrenner and Sterling did much worse. Jerry brought a lawsuit against the league and it doesn't compare to Steinbrenner or Sterling's actions (even though Sterling was recorded without his knowledge in private, but the NBA couldn't afford to not have players play for the Clippers).

One could argue that those are different sports. But, take a look at Zygi Wilf and Jimmy Haslem's scandals and they have gone unnoticed by the league.

What's even worse is regardless of what one thinks about Jerry, virtually every business decision he has advised the NFL over the years has been golden. It's not a coincidence that since he has become the owner of the Cowboys that the NFL's popularity and wealth has skyrocketed. He was here before Goodell, Blank and Kraft. He is advising them on another business decision and yet these owners actually think he's wrong this time for not wanting to given Goodell an extension right now with 18 months left on his contract and wanting every owner to vote on Goodell's extension. So much so that they are threatening him.

It's completely absurd.

YR

Yeah I remember the basketball thing but I wasn't into it enough to understand the process of how they forced him to sell his franchise.
