Odds Jerry makes a HC change?

Sadly, I think Fat Mike gets to finish out the last year of his contract.

The only change, if you want to call it that, will be DQ taking the head coach job in Seattle. Rumors are that its a done deal.

So Jerry will hire a new DC, claim that the offense under Fat Mike was really, really good and that the problem in the playoffs was the defense giving up 50 to the Pack.

Of course this will not really fix anything, so expect another 1st round exit again next year.

I think he will make the change, knows fans want a head on a stick.... but the fact he is gonna take his sweet time about it is the bad part. Means his replacement won't be one of the top coaches available. Another puppet coach who will be just happy to be here. FO won't change, and neither will the culture. DQ will be gone on his own and good riddance.

Generally curious as to what CZ thinks.

- It's a certainty

- 50/50

- Likely not

I am in the likely not campaign. He'll ignore the red flags blaring all season when we faced a quality team and instead convince himself the games where we were beating up bad teams is the real Cowboys. As has been noted by others, McCarthy is in the last year of his deal and Jerry has done this twice before with Garrett, believing that maybe that last year will incentivize the HC into doing his best work. Plus Jerry is probably loathe to pay two HCs because he probably views that as a failure and a blight against him and his great football acumen.

Even Jerry cannot sell MM any longer. Quinn will be gone and the loses are to big. Jerry opened his mouth already and stated let's see how the playoffs go when asked about MM future.

Jerry is a salesmen and MM doesn't sell. New blood is the only pitch left.

Some minor, unimportant in the scheme of things, coach will get fired and a replacement hired and Jerry will decide things are fixed and we're SB bound. We saw this dance with Garrett. Oh, and probably a second string player won't get resigned too. Oooh, big changes.

Not likely. Jerry is not prepared to endure a new face in their football operations.

Jerry most likely won't since Jerry loves to have a scapegoat and whipping boy to hand over to the press wolves. Jerry loves to play the press and sell tickets for next losing
season.

Seahawks seem to be casting their night far and wide. GM has no real connection to Quinn either.

If DQ leaves it will be for another DC position is my guess.

Jerry is like that comfortable alcoholic that is suddenly told to stop drinking. He talks about doing it on his own and it never gets done. I don't believe this team has major coaching change. Might fire the waterboy.
The defense was bad and Quinn will leave and Jerry will try to sell everyone on the next hire but it's the snake oil salesman at his best.

Slim, because as far as I know, Jerry would owe him money for the last year to sit out.

And this would mean a completely new offense for Dak, who needed a dumbed-down one this off-season and half the time, he couldn’t find the red-zone and the offense sputtered in 3 of the last 4 games and he completely crapped the bed as usual in the play-offs.

The logical thing to do in reality us neither fire Mike or extend Dak, if you don’t plan on going in a completely different direction at QB in the off-season, and just play out next year and see how it goes. If they waffle midway just fire him mid-season, make Schottenheimer the interim HC and look for a new HC and QB and let Dak walk.

Can’t make a lateral move unless Jerry allows it. Jerry can only stop him if he’s offered a HC position.

Slight problem with that. In no way can Dallas take a 60 million cap hit on Dak next season. He either has to be cut or extended, there is no middle.

Why is that a problem if you decided to move on? Denver took the hit and if you decide to move on, Dak only has a year left anyways.

Salary cap is an imaginary number that owners set. It’s not coming out of Jerry’s pocket. You can bench Dak and force him to ask for a trade. If not, just wait it out like I said, as you already made the decision to move on, so you’ll just need to “waste a year”, unless you hit on a guy like CJ Stroud. Rookie contracts are set.

Garrett got 10 years, Phillips coached 4, Parcels 4, Campo 3, Gaily 3, Switzer 4. I heard/read he was partial to Garrett and maybe Switzer on a personal level. Some were hoping Switzer was gone after year 2. It was obvious the team was not coached well. McCarthy on year 4. I'm guessing the relationship between McCarthy and Jones will factor into the decision.

I’m sure you know how Jerry operates and benching Dak is not an option to him. Now, I would sit down with him and try to get him traded but he will never be benched. If Dallas just lets him play the last season, there won’t be much cap room for much else….it will be a pretty bad season and I don’t see Jerry going in that direction.
