DC Fanatic,
Tony Romo and Terrell Owens threw the offensive coordinator under the bus, in the media, after the last game. They did it in the post-game press conference. Tony Romo threw Garrett under the bus after the last two games. He talked about "being exposed", the schemes, hot reads, etc...
You didn't start a bash thread on them, did you. Seems like you have double standard. Two offensive players express their thoughts in the media and criticize the "Boy Genius", and you don't throw daggers at them.
Again, Wade Phillip, who goes out of his way to cover up for players in the media, reacted with some anger on the Holmes play. Phillips was very critical of that play. You would think it lost the game by the way Phillips reacted. It was the way he talked about that play that probably upset Newman. The game was lost on multiple other plays in that game.
Phillips gave Newman an opening to voice his thoughts to the media when he reacted to that play the way he did after the game. Newman basically challenged Phillilps to take control of the team. What part of the team killed Dallas in Pittsburgh?
Oh, yeah. That would be the "Boy Genius'" offense. Do the math. Newman was talking about "practicing what you preach", in terms of accountability. Who was holding the overrated, turnover machine accountable? Newman was exactly right. He probably saw the ship sinking like I have said before. By the way, the team and Newman played great the next week. Horse trailor, that.
In my opinion, he was challenging Phillips to hold the coaches and players on the offense accountable in order to try and stop the sloppy offensive football that had been costing Dallas critical games.
It's ironic. Newman tells the head coach , your favorite dagger target, to take control of the sinking ship, and you go bonkers and dagger Newman.
Down here, "if you hit our quarterback in the earhole, we'll hit yours in the earhole". Steve Surrier said that. That is Old Testament. Phillips left the door open for Newman to express his feelings when he threw Newman under the bus after the Pittsburgh game.
