You do realize that the current 10th seed in the West (Utah, 20-17, .541) would qualify as a 4th seed in the East right now? The 10th seed in the West would qualify for homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs in the East.

:lmao:

I also realize that Celtics are 10-0 in the West and the East has the two best overall records. We'll see you in the Finals.

Spurs quitely are down to fighting for a 4,5,6.7 seed. Four game cushion for last playoff spot still. I know its only mid January and they wait for rodeo and circus to start playing but there should be some concern in Spur nation creeping in......

you must be mentally challenged or just didnt start paying attention to basketball until "your team" started doing good. This is not a new thing to spurs fans, hence why none of us are freaking out but all media members and other teams fans are celebrating. if the spurs are "fighting for a 4-7 seed" come late march then ill be concerned, but again, this is an annual thing for the spurs, and last year they didnt even get on a roll until AFTER the rodeo trip, but that is coming up and the celtics are on it btw, but hopefully you wont freak out if they beat the spurs, cuz i know i wont freak out if they beat them. Its just the regular season and all the games count the same

Between Jan 31 and Feb 22 the Celtics play host to Dallas and San Antonio and then at Phoenix. We should have a better idea, then, of how these teams match up.

so true.

is it really even worth mentioning? definitely not down here in SA. nobody is even a little worried down here. i guess the rest of the country just likes to HOPE that maybe this is the year we go into the tank. not likely.

I just want us to get healthy....then we can get back into our groove offensively. Honestly, our defense hasn't been all that bad. Sure we have had some lapses and such, but for the most part our D has been steady. It is the lack of offense that has hurt us over the last month. We can't make layups, we are settling for far too many 3s and not converting at a high percentage, and we are turning the ball over far too often in a lot of these games. Sadly, Vaughn is outplaying Parker as of late. When that is happening, things aren't going too well offensively.

I am anticipating the Spurs being the #2 seed in the West by the end of the season. I also anticipate that there will be 2-3 teams in the West at .500 or better that will not make the playoffs, while there will be 2-3 teams in the East below .500 who make the playoffs.

Yes - that will be some great basketball. I have tickets at the Garden Monday night and can't wait. Wizards up tonight back to back. They need to show some mettle and grind another victory out.

Watch Big Baby, he is developing into a hell of a bench player.

it doesnt matter what happens in those games, its just the regular season and it has no bearing on playoff performance or anything. The spurs swept the lakers in 04 and got beat in the playoffs (thanks to .4) the spurs got swept by the cavs last year in the regular season, can you remind me what happened in the finals? the fact of the matter is that the regular season doesnt matter as much as nors is making it out to be. If he would look up the teams with the best record and their playoff performance then he would understand that.

I was hoping the Mavs would take Davis with their 2nd round pick. I'm only guessing they were afraid he'd eat himself out of the league within the next four to five years. We shall see.

congrats to coach pop on win # 600.

:D

an awesome feat for sure....he should be closing in on 700 right now....but he doesn't use the regular season to pad his win column....he uses it to evaluate his team for when the playoffs start......and that is why he is IMO, the best coach in the NBA right now.

Props to the Spurs,

They are beating down the Cavaliers after one badly, albeit at home. But still a good beating so far.

Wow,

Cleveland 90, San Antonio 88

Cleveland hits the West in the Jaws on the West's Turf. Spurs were obviously a dynasty but not sure their small gaurds match up against the new East Teams and Duncan looks slowed some tonight.

Cleveland won a close game....the Spurs once again bitten by stupid turnovers and poor FT shooting. Also, they need to start draining those open 3s. I am glad Barry is back though. His return will be felt in a positive way.

BTW....2 critical calls went against us late....TP was definitely fouled on that layup attempt, even Spur Hater Reggie Miller said so.....the Cavs got the rebound went down and scored a FG. it was a 4 pt swing. Also, Lebron committed an offensive foul on Oberto. Oberto was definitely set and Lebron barreled him over like a battering ram. I can't believe the refs just let that one go. I know Oberto can flop from time to time, but this was a legit offensive foul, that was not called because he was Lebron James. Those two noncalls late really hurt the Spurs.....but as the Champs, they can't rely on the refs to save them....they have to control the ball better and make their open shots.

Props to the Cavs for coming to SA and doing something they couldn't do in June......(of course winning in San Antonio in January means nothing to the Cavs.....and it is definitely small consolation for what happened last June).....

Good win. I can't remember but it seems like the Cavs beat the Mavs in Dallas too lately. But there's no reason for me to think LBJ can take on the Spurs singlehandedly over a seven game series.

Now, if the Cavs were willing to acquire Mike Bibby in a trade giving them an upgrade at the point who can actually draw attention, open the lane for LaBron some and score points... especially if a certain someone is holding onto Bibby in his fantasy league and could really use a boost right now...

what kinda made me mad about the game is that it seemed like pop didnt even care, on one shot it was like he was coaching the assistants more than trying to coach the team, i think he wants them to try and figure things out themselves here in the regular season before the does the annual tearing of a new one. As a fan its difficult to watch the spurs in the regular season because they dont even seem to be trying to play as well as they could, but its nothing new, ill just have to deal with it until the playoffs start

I'm not too worried about the spurs. I think they are still built for the playoffs. Hopefully Parker can get fully healthy and Finley will get out of his slump. At least they're not peaking too early like a certain football team i know:bang2:

I have to praps you Spurs fans -

3rd place in division and 6th seed so far in conference- but Mega confidence.

To my Eye, Spurs just don't look right after last game I saw. But we will wait for the rodeo before we really watch them seriously.
