I'm not typically a reactionary kind of guy, but here's what I'd like to see done on the coaching front this year.

Fire Wade, now before the Bye week, and promote Garrett to Interim Head Coach. Not because I think he's done a great job, because he hasn't, but just to see if he has any potential as Head Coaching material before we let him walk like we did with other young coaching prospects like Payton and Haley, etc.

If Garrett can light a fire under the team, then great, he deserves the job. If he can't, then jettison him as well at the end of the season and bring in an experienced commodity like Gruden, Shanahan, Cowher, Holmgren... any of them will do.

Actually in hindsight this wouldn't work unless we promote Campo to D coordinator since we don't already have one. Oh wells.

No kidding. How the hell do you reward Garrett for the job he's done by giving him the whole team?

This loss was very disturbing, but you don't blow up a 2-2 team that's lost to two teams that are a combined 8-0.

Yes you do, this team fell apart last year and is continuing its slide, this 2009 draft techniques of not drafting tell the 3rd round then trading for multiple late round picks, Then the mid season trade for RW (who I like), just as this team plays incredibly lost on both sides of the ball, If DWARE, SPENCER or RATLIFF gets injured. ..this team has no help, How can you have a LT fined by the NFL for three straight games for kicking and not see it as a team lost and delusional...this team is out of control...no clear strucuture of command

The problem starts at the top, if you cant fire the GM than do the next best thing Fire the HC and bench unproductive players, this aint no Boy Scout program...

Perspective? We don't need no stinkin' perspective.

How's this for "perspective", the two teams they have managed to beat are both winless.

Funny how thie whole "perspective" thing works, huh?

Just proves further that you can't evaluate teams after 4 games ... or in the case of some, 3 games.

This isn't about "rewarding" Garrett.

We're looking at a team that is completely uninspired by its Head Coach. Wade is not a long-term solution under any circumstance, and if we manage to make the playoffs with him at the helm, it'll be DESPITE him not BECAUSE of him.

So he needs to be gone, and the sooner the better.

In the meantime, we have a young guy in Garrett who, just a couple of years ago we almost turned the whole team over to. Jerry's paying him a ton, and more than a few people have pegged him as head coaching material. He's already on staff, so I don't see any harm in jettisoning Wade's dead weight sooner rather than later and seeing if Garrett might be able to perform better as the Head Coach than he's done as the OC.

The worst case scenario is a non-playoff season, which is what we're looking like at this point anyway.

It's entirely possible that he rises to the occasion if given the opportunity. He probably won't but I certainly know that Wade isn't going to get any better.

When Garrett is given the team he needs to be told that it's playoff win or bust. It's as simple as that.

We can't keep the status quo, though, and expect things to change. And you're not going to get a quality guy in here mid-season, so might as well roll with a long-shot who's already on staff.

Why not have Dat leapfrog all the D guys to be DC?

We wouldn't be winning anyway, so why not do something really crazy.

Problem is, I think temporarily promoting Garrett IS status quo...I don't care if he's the greatest motivator in the world, the guy can't even call the right plays or coach his pro-bowl QB. He's not even good at the job he currently has...I can't imagine how giving him more control and power would suddenly make him a better coach and coordinator.

How about 12 years?

Is that enough time to evaluate a team?

Has Wade had enough time to be evaluated as a failure as a head coach?

Has Jerry had enough time to be evaluated as a failure as a GM?

I was never in love with the hire nor do I like GM Jerry.

But a change mid season is just plain stupid. We simply do not have the staff to carry that off.

No.

I definitely agree with you there.

And Garrett's in over his head as a coordinator, much less giving him the head coach job.

That's been this team's issue for the past several years, they have a quarterbacks coach for offensive coordinator and a defensive coordinator as a head coach.

Both in over their heads.

But things stay the same because the GM is comfortable and knows the owner won't fire him.

As stated before, at least they could see if Garrett is worthy of a head coaching position and Grantham has been working in the system for two years. Wade is not going to cut it, so I really don't see why not.

Its pretty obvious that he isnt worthy of a head coaching gig. His offense is constantly confused, and makes the same undisciplined mistakes on a weekly basis, not to mention the fact that his QB has regressed consistently, these things arent going to magically change if you give him even more responsibility.

i'd rather fire Jason IMMEDIATELY then not renew Cupcake ending an embarrassing 3 years post-tuna.

removing Wade tomorrow would help nothing without removing Red too.

our biggest problem is Jerry. our second biggest problem is the aforementioned Jerry-proclaimed genius.

JG as an interim head coach would be disastrous, especially since TO & half the offense publicly spoke out against him along with Romo "schemes".

Its an open an honest question? If Wade got fired today, who would you choose as our new HC? You can pick from any coach from curent crop in Nfl to those currently out of the game and the best of college.

I even let you have a fantasy pick ( good ol' JJ back in town :lmao: )

Personally id like to see Mooch or Cowher take the reins
