Anyone else a little wary of Shanhan after seeing how much better they look now under McDaniels, especially on defense? Shanny struggled for YEARS to get even a serviceable defense in place, and now Nolan does it in a few months.

Tony Dungy. He's not a rah rah type of guy but you better believe these players and everyone who has ever played for him respect him.

I like Cowher as well...this team needs a HC with attitude. Shanny would be my second choice.

I kind of have a feeling it will be cowher to carolina if fox gets the hook. He lives there and would get complete control. Perfect scenario, it could never get better for coach cowher than that panthers job.

And the skins and broncos have had a good relationship for awhile, I imagine it was shannhan on the other end of the phone making those draft day trades and trading portis.

So that leads me to believe Mike Shannahan to Washington.

That leaves Dallas and Buffalo to interview Holmgren, gruden, billick and whoever else comes up. And buffalo doesnt pay coaches.

We know jerry has a relationship with Mike Holmgren. So if Holmgren had a parcells type deal and could hire his own staff and in turn gruden didnt get hired......would gruden come with him to run our offense for a year or two or would he prefer to stay in the boothe with tirico and just talk about something he loves. And starting next year he wont be getting paid from a team anymore.

I think it would be pretty interesting Having Holmgren at the top. With gruden/sherman/peete and whoever else on the offensive side.

now the west coast offense might make me insane, but at least we know holmgren and gruden love to run it.

Its an open an honest question? If Wade got fired today, who would you choose as our new HC? You can pick from any coach from curent crop in Nfl to those currently out of the game and the best of college.

I even let you have a fantasy pick ( good ol' JJ back in town :lmao: )

Personally id like to see Mooch or Cowher take the reins

I'm not typically a reactionary kind of guy, but here's what I'd like to see done on the coaching front this year.

Fire Wade, now before the Bye week, and promote Garrett to Interim Head Coach. Not because I think he's done a great job, because he hasn't, but just to see if he has any potential as Head Coaching material before we let him walk like we did with other young coaching prospects like Payton and Haley, etc.

If Garrett can light a fire under the team, then great, he deserves the job. If he can't, then jettison him as well at the end of the season and bring in an experienced commodity like Gruden, Shanahan, Cowher, Holmgren... any of them will do.

What makes you think that Gruden, Cowher, Shanny, or Holmgren would want to coach this team? Or even Garrett for that matter.

This team had the ultimate disciplinarian as a head coach for 4 seasons before Wade, and the results were the same. Do you wonder why that is? The common threads are the GM and some of the current star players. We have a mentally soft, soft team, and a GM that should fire himself.

I would put money on that. Besides I highly doubt Cowher could deal with Jerry after years of the relative sanity of the Rooney's.

Holmgren's been linked to Washington, but that came from Mort I think so take with appropriate salt. I think if we went head to head though Jerry would have the upper hand on Danny of he really wanted him.

I am 1000% against firing a head coach during the season. It just sends the wrong message IMO and it will only make it that much harder bringing in a respectable coach.

When Garrett is given the team he needs to be told that it's playoff win or bust. It's as simple as that..

The only - and I mean only - reason to do this is that you take Garrett off the table as an option for next year, which is probably a good thing.

But as other have said its still too early. Heck Danny hasn't even fired Zorn yet, and they are in much worse shape than we are.

Only way either Shanahan or Cowher comes is if Jerruh steps back like he did with BP. Has things got bad enough for him to swallow his pride again so soon? Holmgren I do not know- but certainly better then what we have.
Gruden seems incomplete-but still better then what we have.

The guy we should have got last year was Singletary. Of course by now his leg would be in a cast after it almost fell off from all the butt kicking he would have to do.

that makes to much sense, Dallas know's what they got in Wade.. he has hit his ceiling as HC... Give Garrett the opportunity,(not likely) step in and succeed. Eventhough the outcome will still be 9-7 to 8-8. By implanting different HC and DC, it could build Chemistry or at least provide HC with a higher draft pick.

my three issues
1) What a farce this 2009 draft turned out to be,
2) Trading for WR,(who I like) for a 1st and 3rd you would think Jerry Jones would of learned his lesson after the Joey Galloway deal
3) No defense, NO Discpline =No Coaching or defacto Jerry Jones coaching see the CAMPO years..

The writing is on the wall, its just about his contract and money now.

Don't look now, but it appears Galloway has worn out his welcome in New England. He was a "healthy" scratch from the line up in in New England this past weekend.

Some are speculating that his days with the Pats are numbered.

"Hello, Joey? Yes, Jerry Jones is on the phone..............."

:banghead:

I'm kidding, of course............................I think.

Bill Cowher

For 3 reasons

1) I think the guy was able to get the most out of his teams

2) I think Cowher has enough connections to be able to bring in a good staff with him - whereas I feel the others don't and won't.

3) His hire would mean that Jerry would have to take a step back from having his hands in everything

I am all for Bill Cowher. I know some guys have reservations about bringging a pittsburg coach, but I like that foodball. Good defense, rely more on Run and have a decent QB.

He will create the killer instinct that is missing with our current group, who go out and play as if their job is to walk on the field for 3 hours and collect their paycheck

I changed my mind to Gruden after yesterday's loss. Cowher would not come to Dallas because he wants to be close to his family in NC (Future Carolina Panther Coach?). This team needs a strong personality at coach and I think this personnel would do well in the WCO.

I agree. If you watch all those NFL films shows with Holmgren and Favre, you can see how Coach Holmgren kept Favre grounded when he got careless with the ball. I can see Mike doing the same thing with Romo. Defensively, I have no idea who his ties are. Could anyone find out who Mike had as defensive coordinator in Green Bay and Seattle?

Nothing against 60+ years guys, but I am tired of these guys who are mentally half retired and would retire again in 2-3 years. What he id with Farve was 14 years back when he has something to prove. I don't think it would be exactly the same magic if he comes now
