On a scale of 1-10, how upset are you about the Tapper and Jaylon Smith picks?

does anyone even know exactly how Jaylon Smith is progressing?

wasn't the nerve supposed to be firing by now? the lack of updates annoys impatient me (watch someone post a dozen twitter links of updates that I've missed haha)

Tapper was never even close to a Clowney level talent.

Ever.

I'm not comparing them in terms of talent - I agree completely. I'm pointing out that feeling it was a bad pick just because they were injured AFTER the pick is a pretty big leap, since that hadn't been a huge MO for them in college.

I am not so sure given the information we know that it was an "after" the pick situation. I think we just dropped the ball in evaluation.

5 overall... Pretty neutral right now... Tapper was a 4th round pick and most arent expected to produce right away. However, everyone had high hopes for him and is at a position of need so the fact he hasnt taken a snap is dissapointing... Jaylon Smith, if he can get back on the field will be a steal... I also look at other des and lbs drafted in the 2nd round where the Cowboys drafted and although its early there is no one that is lighting it up that would have been a major difference maker over what we have... So both those factors make me feel better about the Jaylon pick.

a lot of people here were excited about the Tapper pick when it was made, so getting mad about that is hindsight anger. Jaylon Smith, a lot of people were angry about that, me included. I wanted Myles Jack. We could also have had Sterling Shephard. Now, if Jaylon Smith turns out, then this might have been one of the greatest drafts in Cowboys history. In regards to Tapper, I don't really expect a ton from 4th rounders, and the fact that we found Dak with the compensatory 4th makes up for that. If Jaylon can actually play and Tapper gets on the field and does something, we found 4, or even possibly 5 starters in the first 4 rounds. Ezekiel Elliott, Jaylon Smith, Maliek Colilns, Charles Tapper, and Dak Prescott.

I'm at a solid 7 upset about these damn two draft picks..

Collins and Brown on defense i'm very happy about.

Prescott ...i'm through the roof excited..

People put way too much stock in draft picks beyond the first round. WHO would have helped us this year? Myles Jack, the guy who has two tackles in three games?
If you believed people around here, he should have been our first round pick.

If you're complaining about the 2016 draft class you're missing the forest for the tree. The tree is playing QB.
So, we lucked out on the 4th round pick, so it doesn't matter that the 2nd round pick doesn't start, maybe NEVER?! Each pick stands on its own merit, & there is little merit in drafting a LB with a shredded knee & damaged nerves who has less than a 50% chance of ever playing in the NFL. There were too many excellent players-Myles Jack comes to mind-that were passed over for too high a risk. Typical Jones selection-throw darts after round one.

Not upset one iota.

Injuries happen as in the case of Tapper.

By the time the Cowboys picked Smith the better 4-3 DE's were off the board. If you wanted a #1 DT, then there were a few of those left.

When you hit a bullseye at a position that overshadows all the other positions to a point where they're not comparable? Yes.

Look at it like this. If the draft was held today, Dallas probably couldn't get Dak for the Smith, Elliott and Tapper picks. Would have required Collins as well. Instead you have a couple of lottery tickets, your future backfield and an ideal scheme fit DL.

Especially with how well our offense is playing...we could actually make noise this year..

I was actually excited about Tapper when we drafted him ...but uh .

The Gregory and Death Ro nonsense was bad enough and now this.

Far more mad about Tapper than Jaylon. Jaylon they knew what the deal was and took a chance. With Tapper, they just didn't do their homework. We have way too many shortcomings to not be doing our homework.
