On a scale of 1-10, how upset are you about the Tapper and Jaylon Smith picks?

what can we do? they continue to take these kinds of unnecessary risks especially on such a depth less team.

I'm on my knees every day praying for Jaylons knee because if everything works out and he can play for us next year this kid is going to be an absolute monster and be the future superstar of the defense

That gives me excitement. So I'm a 7 on him. Tapper I'm maybe a 1 or 2

Especially with how well our offense is playing...we could actually make noise this year..

I was actually excited about Tapper when we drafted him ...but uh .

The Gregory and Death Ro nonsense was bad enough and now this.

Tapper got hurt and Smith is a solid risk.

I'm not excited about either as they don't help the present. I'm more concerned of our lack of not going after mid level FA's. We got Mawoya and Thornton at low level contracts. The Gents signed high level FA's. We need something in the middle. If they keep going cheap this team will never be good.

People put way too much stock in draft picks beyond the first round. WHO would have helped us this year? Myles Jack, the guy who has two tackles in three games?
Not a really bright comment. The vast majority of players in the NFL were taken AFTER the first round. James Bradberry, CB, Samford/ Mackensie Alexander, CB, Clemson are two big cover corners making their presence felt in the league as rookies. We sure could use one of those guys right about now.

Corner position is fine. It's the pass rushers that's a problem.

You're not going to hit on every pick. Jaylan Smith if it wasn't for the injury is a sure thing. I take that risk. I just question where we took that risk at. If he pans out it won't matter but I do wonder how far he would've fell. People made it seem like he'd be taken later on but Jack flew off right afte us so you never know.

I hate the Smith pick. Hated it then and hate it still. The thing that made Smith special is the the thing the injury is most likely to take from him. Another bad 2nd round gamble. Should have done differently.
Tapper doesn't irk me.

He said "people put way too much stock in draft picks after the first round"

I was just refuting his usual crappy argument with facts

Clearly picks after the first round are important

It was pretty much expected that Jaylon wouldn't play this year. I don't know why anyone would be changing their opinions on that pick now. You either liked it or you don't, I personally did. Risk vs reward is something I'm a huge believer in, and I agreed Jaylon's potential was just too good to pass up.

As far as Tapper goes, I thought it was a great pick when it happened. Yeah, the whole back thing is sucky. But no one knew about it. Not the Cowboys, not other teams, not even Tapper himself. But when the pick was made, it was an A+ pick from me. I can't really fault the Cowboys, or anyone, for the current situation with Tapper.

If I was down on the picks it would be because of a long term projection not first year impact.

I'm down on the team doctors who apparently missed a back condition Tapper had for years.

Smith pick is harder to tolerate because it comes on heels of questionable 2nd round pick the year before. These are not 5th or 6th round draft picks Jerry is playing craps with. Your good teams use these 2nd rounders and turn them into starters fairly quick. I see the temptation but Dallas is pulling trigger too early on these splash picks.

If Dak and Zeke are really the future of this team nothing will disappoint me about the draft.
Agreed.

Becuz Zeke and DAK are shining so bright..

it's hard to complain about our draft choices who may have to delay their contributions a year.

It's the whole reason DAK ended up being taken at 4..techically he was a long shot intended to be another project for delayed dividends.

I wonder how we would feel if DAK was taken #1 and Zeke had been long gone at #2?
