No, let's make something up to be mad about instead. Something that isn't close to happening. That makes much more sense. Now I see how lawyers screw up everything they touch.
Of course it's not close to happening. I threw out an example of something extreme that could be technically considered "conduct detrimental" to prove a point. You don't know what conduct detrimental is do you?

I'm shocked it flew over your head.

I realize that it's a dangerously vague term and I agree with you that the rules need to be made clearer. And as I've said, I hope they're working on it. At the same time, nobody who's gotten suspended hasn't deserved it.

Imagine that? The two of us agreeing on anything.

Where you lose me is when you start touting Vick's case and dismissing protestors as 'crazies' or whatever term you used.

That's when the 'counselor' comes out.....

I didn't expect much from you, so it's all good.

Is this an insult? I expected you to read the thread before asking condescending questions about what all these belly achers would do to make this better. It's already been covered. Why rehash it just so a few people can be lazy?

At what point have I ever touted Vick's case? Please find a post where I do that... I'll save you the time, it's not there.

And I'm sorry, there were under 100 protesters at the two main sites combined. If you reduced those, which I think would happen if you had a more consistent policy that left little doubt as to what would happen, I think that lower number would be even a more fringe/fanatical group. I already apologized for the bit of hyperbole in the term "crazies." But if that term was your beef, you sure wasted a lot of time arguing over it without ever really mentioning it.

This would be the one that pissed me off:

Goodell has the right, as it stands right now. There is no argument that I'm aware of saying otherwise. Should he? That's the issue.

And if there were a strong consistent policy in place, that would definitely quell the protesters a bit. Sure, you'd get a few crazies, but not enough to exert any substantial amount of pressure on you. You can tell the crazies to blow it out their arse, especially if you have a specific policy that you are not going to waver from.

Sounds like you'd like to get rid of the 'troublesome protestors', but are questioning the Commissioner's 'sending Vick home - with pay'.

It was really dismissive in my opinion. I don't agree with everything PETA does, but I respect those that stand against what they perceive as wrong rather than those who merely complain and do nothing.

I think you misunderstand my post. Lemme try to clear it up. The protesters are exerting economic pressure (at least a little bit), there's no doubt. I never said ALL PROTESTERS were "crazies." What I said is if you could reduce the number, they would exert even less pressure. And this is where the "crazies" come in. There would probably still be a few protesters, more fringe and fanatical protesters. Those types may protest anything. But those protesters aren't going to exert the pressure that larger numbers would.

So if I took a week off and went and protested Goodell's all-encompassing power, then you'd respect me more?? Whether I knew what I was talking about or not?

Peppy, just for your large ears: I have a job that actually impacts this country. For the good. Unlike lawyers. I help see to it that even lawyers can talk their garbage in freedom. And my job required more college education then you did to get your law degree. Now of course you make a lot more. But then I know I do not take blood money, so that helps.

I can look at myself in the mirror each morning and KNOW I do not have to lie to people that day. Can you say the same?

Hey - this might be irrelevent to this thread - but I was just reading the Declaration of Independence this morning (if you haven't seen it - check it out. Pretty interesting storyline), and it turns out that 35 of the 55 crafters of said Declaration were lawyers, or benefitted from legal training.

And...I did not know that.

So, we live and we learn.

And where does that stop?
And Thanks to some of you wonderful,Enlightened, People That are willing to go on record and say That P.E.T.A ain't as crazy as Aunt Suzy That lives in the abandoned Lumber Mill down by the river. You guys are a riot.

Reality is that the world will keep spinning, Mike Vick will have the best Lawyers MONEY can buy. So I will tell you people with the Bloodlust to curb your enthusiasm. O.J's Murdering *** did get off and he actually killed a human. Not that P.E.T.A would give a .............

To you people that hate lawyers, Wait until someone accuses you of going to far even though she pulled out your member. You learn to love them. Wait until your dog dies because Purina decided it cost too much to make sure that dog food bought from a contoversial counrty was properly screened (That's for you P.E.T.A types).

Oh yea and anyone that uses kids at a protest are much worse than Vick. Sorry I'm a Dad and I have enough sense and Balls not to hide behind my kids. Anything can happen at a protest and usuallly does. Why would you put your kids out there. For me to believe what I believe is one thing. To indoctrinate and risk the health of little Croc Hunter Youth is Deplorable. But hey, their Role Models, Hitler, Stalin,Pol Pot, ETALS used kids for propaganda all the time. With stunning success why wouldn't they?

Really? Is it for a private company? If so, there had to be a lawyer to form that company.

Does your company do business with other companies? If so, there has to be a lawyer that writes the contracts between the two companies.

If your company is regulated by the government (and 99.999% of companies are regulated in some fashion), there are lawyers that make sure your company is compliant so that it can operate and you can have a job.

If your company were to fire you illegally, who would you call? A lawyer.

If your company wants to expand, and hire more people just like you, so that you can all sit around the water cooler and talk Cowboys football, who would they call? A deal lawyer.

How does your company pay its taxes? A lawyer helps them.

How does your company pay and collect on any debts owed to it, so that it may write you a check on payday? A lawyer helps them.

If your company was in financial distress, such that you might get laid off, who would they call to help them get out of bankruptcy?

That's right. A lawyer. Your job would not exist without lawyers.

If you're looking for some kind of 'gratitude', keep looking.

I don't respect the profession.

Maybe a few bad apples, maybe not.

Lawyers do what they do for money - nothing more, nothing less.

And they'll lie, cheat and steal to get it.

Just trying to educate the ignorant. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I don't respect the profession.
It's because you have no idea what they do.

I must have missed all of those people that wake up every morning to go to jobs where they're not getting paid.

And they'll lie, cheat and steal to get it.
Like you would have any idea what lawyers do. Stop pretending like you have a clue.

Since we're being irrelevent to the thread I wonder how many of those lawyers owned slaves.

And I suppose you'd work your job, for free?

Dunno how you'd survive for long...but I really don't care, to be honest.

____________

Everybody lies. Its a basic human condition. But I am curious, what exactly do lawyers "always lie" about? They aren't tesitfying themselves in courtrooms....

Easy solution for the players keep your nose clean and stay out of trouble and this becomes a non-issue or you can keep going down the same old road and put your career at risk.

Honestly, you have no idea what lawyers do. When you think of lawyers you think of a single stereotype and it's just wrong. You're simply displaying your ignorance.

Difference being, most aren't selling their soul on a daily basis.
What does this even mean? Do you have any idea what you're talking about? Or are you just throwing these ridiculous cliches around for the heck of it? Learn something about the profession or stop trying to pretend that you have a clue.

I read about all the 'good' they do every day.

That's why cigarettes cost $5.00 a pack or why my health and car insurance is so high.

What on earth are you talking about? Cigarettes? Health insurance?

You wouldn't have health insurance if it wasn't for lawyers. You know that hospital you go to? Lawyers had to draw up the contracts to hire the doctors. They had to draw up the contracts to build the hospital itself and to purchase the land it's sitting on. They have to make sure that the hospital is compliant with all of the regulations, so that the hospital can stay open and actually cure you of your ills.

Seriously, guy, you're a joke. You wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for lawyers. You wouldn't have a doctor if it wasn't for lawyers. You wouldn't have a home if it wasn't for lawyers. We make the world go 'round.
