On the Mark: Goodell Changing the Rules

it's not keen insight, all I did was read the part in the CBA about the player contract

not to the league's integrity, which is what we're talking about here
Oh, the CBA says "conduct detrimental to the league's integrity?" That's news to me. Thanks for clearing that up.

Nevertheless, bad QB play is detrimental to the integrity of the league also. The liberty you took in interpreting the conduct policy doesn't change my concerns.

Hey guys, did you realize that after a very long offseason, training camp finally started today?

Not like I'm a mod here... But hasn't this thread deteriorated far beyond anything having to do with even the NFL, much less the Cowboys? Now we're just having a good "I'm more educated/well-paid/noble than you" piss fight.

So just sidle up and watch

A lawyer's reputation is well deserved.
How do you know it's well-deserved? You said yourself you've never had to deal with one.

I haven't needed one.

I've 'dealt with' one before.

I'm about finished with this never-ending argument though.

Time to talk about some football.

That's why we're here after all.

I know, start backing out, just when we get to the good stuff...

So in your "dealings" with that attorney, what actions did he take to let you know that lawyer's reputations were "well-deserved?"

I know, sorry Summer. I forgot you only read books with pictures in them.

I've read it. It says "conduct detrimental to the league." Not to the league's "integrity."

no it's not
there's more than one definition of the word "integrity."

The 'good stuff"?

None if this has been 'good'.

A lot of pointless bickering by you, me, and everybody else.

We all have our opinions on this subject and we don't agree with one another.

That point has been hammered home.

Is there really any point in continuing this nonsense?

There's no case to be won here.

The "good stuff" = getting to the reasons behind your opinions. You're said you've never hired an attorney, only dealt with one, yet they're basically the scum of the earth according to you. So I want to know how you formed this opinion. That's the good stuff. Like I said earlier, if your "opinion" comes from someone else's dealings with an attorney, then your "opinion" could be tossed in the crapper.

But if you have some sort of personal experience as a basis for your opinion, it may get to the root of the issue. Probably still not enough for you to be making blanket statements, but it at least gives us some reason why you feel that way.

Your a lawyer? One would expect you to defend your profession most lawyers I know do the same thing. However even you should know that many people do not have very high opinions of lawyers and it has been that way for a long time chances are since the profession came to being. Like any profession there is good and bad so why do you think this low opinion exsist?

did you read appendix C-NFL Player Contract, point 15? hell, it begins with...

INTEGRITY OF GAME

and then after that, it goes on to say...

Player recognizes the detriment to the League and professional football that would result from impairment of public confidence in the honest and orderly conduct of NFL games or the integrity and good character of NFL players.

Some people don't have very high opinions of car salesmen, mechanics, doctors, priests, etc. etc.

I tend to base my opinions off of personal experiences, and even then I don't indict a whole profession simply because of a few bad apples.

I mean I would expect that most people on this board have heard more about the missteps of professional football players than attorneys. So we've seen there are a few bad apples. Do you immediately assume every football player is the same as Michael Vick?

That's the problem with our younger generation these days. Lookit how she's talking to her mother. No respect. If I was to do something like this............I'd still be wearin' orthopedic undies.

I like how what you highlighted talks about the integrity and good character of NFL players.

I also like how certain people decided to trash the hell out of all lawyers ("all") and then just want to brush everything under a rug when a lawyer (inevitably included in "all lawyers") takes offense and shows that certain people's opinions are baseless.

Classy. ;)
