I think this is absolutely great, just for the sole reason that you know people in the national media are going to have a cow about Romo holding again.

There are stats for holders?

ROFL. I don't know why but this made me laugh.

I'm all for Romo holding. It's not ideal considering he's the starting QB but it's not going to kill him. Besides, he's a very good holder. You can't play scared, if it helps get us a few more FG's between now and the end of the season it was worth it.

Mickey actually mentioned this either Monday or Tuesday on Talking Cowboys that if they changed holders that they'd have no choice but to go with Romo cause they tried Hurd, Crayton, Kitna, and I think one other person in training camp and at other times this year, cause McBriar has never been real comfortable with it, and none of those others have been able to do it properly.

So after hearing them talk about it I kind of figured this would be coming this week.

Everytime I watch the video, I think he is actually going to get it in the endzone....

Hurts like hell.

Over under should be around 40 for how many times ESPN shows "the hold" this week.

Galloway is saying it's done, that Romo will be holding Sunday.

I hope Tony has been practicing his dive left.

Kitna has never done it before. It is not as if they did not look at Kitna. I know some think it is easy but there is a lot in terms of doing the job correctly.
And quickly too with no do overs possible, a bang-bang operation

Same here man. So damn close and all of this no playoff win crap never would have been an issue. And hell, Parcells might have stayed another year depending on how we did that next week.

Oh well.

GAC on Romo going back to holding on kicks
---------------------------

Next season we draft a holder.

35 specialists on one football team.

Brilliant!

A 3rd round LB who can't get on to the active roster. Not even as a special teams player.

Wade Phillips. One more year! One more year! One more year!

I haven't watched the video once since seeing it live. I've developed an uncanny sense of looking away when it's on. Wonderful.

Kitna should've had all year to practice and perfect this task. If we keep him next year, he should spend the offseason getting it correct. The starting QB should not be holding.

Jenky;3132012 said:
Yeah, why the hell can't Kitna do it?

wade said the other day last week, that they tried kitna, but he had never held at holding for field goals and he was terrrible at it;

Thats just stupid. Romo is having great QB performances lately. Why would you even tweak with any other things that might mess up his rhythm.

cause this team is stupid. we can't even find a backup qb who can hold for fgs. the guy has enough pressure on him and if he drops another hold he'll never get over it. smh in utter disgust of this stupid team.

For those of you who still shudder at the thought of Tony Romo's botched hold at the end of a playoff loss to Seattle nearly three years ago, read no further.

In an attempt to reverse the downward spiral field goal kicker Nick Folk finds himself in these days, the Cowboys used Romo as the holder in Wednesday's practice. He took the place of punter Mat McBriar, who has mishandled two of Folk's missed attempts in recent weeks.

"We feel like we need to do something, whether it's the whole operation itself or some of the parts,'' head coach Wade Phillips said. "We've got to get more confidence from our kicker. We need to do better.

"There's a possibility we'll make a change this week as far as the holder is concerned.''

Backup quarterback Brad Johnson was the holder last season. This year's backup, Jon Kitna, has never held. Phillips stressed that Romo is a better holder than Johnson and that special teams coach Joe DeCamillis was impressed with what he saw from Romo Wednesday.

Romo hasn't held since that loss to the Seahawks in 2007. Phillips joked upon taking the job that Romo was retired as a holder. It appears he is out of retirement. Phillips said Romo is willing to do the job and he doesn't believe it puts his quarterback in danger physically.

Did Romo make the offer or did the coaching staff approach him?

"Kinda in-between,'' Phillips said.

"I mean, everybody is concerned. We're trying to address the problem, and that looked like the best way to go for the people we had. So that's where we are right now.''
