Yeah... Because FG holding is such a high-risk position.

And Parcells had Romo do it, too. Were you *****ing about it then?

Like Hos said, Theisman did it for years. There's not a thing wrong with having the QB hold if he's the best on the team at it.

Like I said, Never a dull moment is Michelinland. ;)

Hos = Batman & You = Robin?

he's got enough pressure on him as it is. 53 guys on this roster and our 70 million dollar franchise qb is the only one the buffoon of a HC could find to hold for a fg? what a joke

This team apparently went through a number of them in training camp and didn't have much success. All I know is December isn't the time for a player to learn a position that he has never done before. Maybe this should have been addressed better in the offseason, but at this point I don't really see better options. It is what it is.

If Romo is the holder I'm switching my vote to fire Wade.

This is a huge step backwards.
I'm already planning a party to celebrate the firing of wade. immediately after that i'm planning a suicide party for when Jerry announces Coach Tecmo as our new head coach. yay!

Holy smoke there are a LOT of drama queens on here. Romo is taking some snaps at holder (along with a couple of other guys) and the board melts down.

No joke. Now Romo holding for FGs and extra points is going to ruin his confidence and get him crushed and injured for life.

Pray for Tony!

I kinda like it. I like that fact that Romo is getting the chance to smash quite a few demons this year (December curse and this fumbled snap thing). If this is enough to take Romo down, then we weren't meant to win the Super Bowl anyways.

By the way, I have a question for all the people here who are in a state of panic about the injury factor. How many holders in the last, oh, ten or so years have gotten seriously injured performing that duty? I don't know the answer to the question, but I figured since everyone is so worried that they did know this number and that is, in fact, quite high.

Romo is not part of the Special Teams. He is part of the offense. He needs to be with the offense analyzing defenses with the TE/WR and see what was wrong with the current drive that lead to a field goal. He needs to be talking to Garrett and not trying to coddle Folk's psyche cause he thinks the problem is the holder.

It only takes a few seconds to hold. He has the entire kickoff and opposing offensive possession to go over that stuff.

Did you complain when Jimmy had Novacek hold? He was on offense, too. But Jimmy had him do it because he was the best on the team at it. Same for Tony on our team.

We could have lived without Jay. Can we live without Romo? History says no. All of our dynamic offensive eggs are in the Romo basket.

This is specific to QB. A QB has enough responsibility and doesn't need to hold. We have been down this road before. How many times does one need to be burnt before they learn not to touch fire.

How many holders have gotten injured doing that job?

How about you and I both research that stat. I forgot holders were on the same level as tracked skill players.

I'll be honest, I don't really care to research the stat because I can't remember any. But since you seem to be very concerned about this, I was thinking you had something to back up your worries. If this is a dangerous job, there has to be some examples. I don't watch every game, nor do I even remember everything that happens when I do, but I can't recall too many holders getting hurt. If you have examples that would prove me wrong, feel free to put them up.

I'm not in the business of worrying about what others think of my "worries". Hence the lack of care for finding a worthless stat. Glad you're concerned though. :)

It's not a worthless stat if you think it's a dangerous job. As a matter of fact, it's a very, very relevant one to the discussion at hand.
