Opening a can of worms

How so, is Brady not allowed to live his life? How do you know they didn't run it by him? These players are under contract to the team to prevent them from going to another team and Brady had not come forth to say he was even going to play this season until this week.
Go back to sleep! Lol!

I'm happy for Witten, but does anyone else feel that :espn: may be crossing the line by going after a current player? Imagine if they talked someone like Brady or Belichek to retire for a TV job.

Witt was actually the 2nd choice. Greg Olsen was their first choice. He used it as leverage against Carolina to get a new contract extension which he signed on draft night.

Belicheat can answer all of your questions.

Seems an odd time to ask a guy if he wants a job. But I can tell you that Witten pretty much screwed us with his timing. Telling us on the 2nd day of the draft that he probably isn't coming back? Jerk move if you ask me. But like I said, I'm almost glad it happened like that.

Witten auditioned weeks before the draft. It wasn't a secret, so there's no doubt Jerry knew Witten could be done. Your apparent obliviousness doesn't make Witten a jerk, but your post on the day he retired kind of makes you look like one.

Other organizations routinely offer Patriots personnel new career paths and Belichick doesn't "start World War III" over it like the fella claims he would.

WWE (the wrestling outfit) wanted to lure Gronkowski to wrestling. Did Belichick pitch a hissy fit because WWE is in business with the USA Network, who is owned by the people who own NBC, who are also in business with the NFL? As if that means NBC isn't allowed to pursue Patriots players? Of course he didn't pitch such a hissy fit.

When Universal gave Tom Brady a role in a film, did he pitch a hissy fit because Universal is owned by the people who own NBC, who is in business with the NFL, and they shouldn't be helping Brady line up a post-playing career in entertainment? Of course he didn't pitch such a hissy fit.

But Dallas fans still have to embarrass themselves, putting on our tinfoil hats and claiming the world is out to get us. And only us. And the people we mythologize from other organizations would NEVER let such a thing happen, they claim.

But Belichick doesn't pitch fits or start wars when people give his personnel new career paths. It's happened multiple times and he's never once started a war over it.

They offered Peyton 10 million who’s already retired and he turned it down. Witten was a bargain at 4.5 million less than the 6 million they were paying Gruden.

But no, I have no problem with outside business competing for the talent.

I think Witten was thinking about retiring before we ever found out and the FO knew it.
I don't think he needed to be offered a broadcasting job to consider retirement.
I think it was just the timing that may get fans riled up.
IMO

They knew it was possible.

So, since you are a Dallas fan, you are embarrassing yourself? Ok.. lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are kidding right? He had to be talked into playing 2017. His play was slipping. It is time.

The worst thing ESPN did was cut off the coverage to air one of their horrible shows where four idiots argue about dumb stuff.

Just because we found out when we did doesn't necessarily mean Jerry and the staff didn't know prior.
This is probably true. On top of that, I recall hearing that Witten may be interested in the Tennessee head coaching position.

This reeks of Goodell and Mara, it’s so obvious they’re behind it. Witten was a Giant killer, literally. They’re doing everything they can to derail our season. They see the writing on the wall, us going to the Super Bowl, and are clearly working together to make sure we don’t get there. I bet both Mara and Goodell chipped on his salay, don’t think for one minute ESPN would have paid that much without help.

I noticed how they didn’t go after any Giants players. Hmmmm...the Cowboys are being targeted once again, we should just give up.
