Lol, teams like Tampa play heavy man. When Dak ‘got back on track’ with his numbers against Atlanta, it was because they played heavy man. That’s the exact opposite of daring Dallas to run. Dak has been getting away with it his whole career, because teams were afraid of the OL and RG.

When teams showed they didn’t need to play so much man, Dak looked like a complete train wreck. He’s always sucked against zone coverages. The Dak-led Cowboys when Dak was struggling was 31st in the league in third down efficiency, 26th in DROP-BACK success rate and 23rd in drop back efficiency and that’s when their RG went from averaging 5 YPC from both Zeke and Pollard to 29th in success rate.

Dak has been carried by the OL and RG his whole career. He got exposed when Amari wasn’t here and when Amari came here, Dak’s numbers against man shot up, but he still sucked against zone.

Except that is not how they played Dallas. Teams that played Dallas that had success, and even ones that did not, all followed the same formula. They all played a lot of 2 deep safety, only rushing 4 and dropping everyone else back into coverage. They, like the 49ers before them, knew they could get pressure with 4. Furthermore, they were daring Dallas to run inside by playing so far back and they also knew Dallas would not do it.

For an example of how to handle this you can look at the Chiefs. Many teams tried a similar method against them but the Chiefs would be completely content just getting 5 and 6 yard runs every down until the defense tried to do something about it and once they did Mahomes would throw it for 40 yards against you. This worked both because the coaches were smart enough to take what the defense gave them and because the OLine was good enough to win when they should which brings us to the second problem: the offensive line has not been the strength of the Cowboys for about 3 years now.

This is not even a QB is making too much issue because of the 9 QBs making 40m or more Dallas has the 8th best OLine and the 8th best set of weapons (defense is harder to place but realistically somewhere in the middle). That is ignoring that other QBs who are not in the club yet but will be joining it soon who also have better weapons and a better OLine. This raises the question if you have one of those great QBs but an inferior supporting cast how are you supposed to beat the teams that also have one of those QBs but have a better supporting cast?

I was going to say I thought Dak's weakness was when the defense could get pressure with 4 and have 7 in coverage.
He's good against the blitz as it left a lot of 1 on 1, which when your roster consisted of a great route runner(when he felt like it) in Cooper, Gallup who was good at stretching the field and CDL who was in the slot, it created some big play ability.

Maybe when it's 7 in zone he struggles more. I dunno. I just remember our collapse last year starting when teams could rush the minimum and stay in "max" coverage and stagnate the offense. .

Maybe stafford was still hungover from all the partying they did after they won the Super Bowl on his first year there after the rams finally ditched their average popcorn arm qb

You mean maybe he had a bad game against a great defense?

Sounds logical to me. Just like Dak. Heck Dak only threw one pick. Who do you think had more to work with Dak or Stafford?

Who had the advantage?

1. Pass catchers........Stafford
2. Oline......................Stafford
3. Running game........Wash
4 Scheme and coaching.....Stafford

No I’m saying Mathew stafford may be still partying Bc he won a Super Bowl in first year with his new team. so he can retire today and be happy.

the thing about dak is there’s no there there. It’ll be weird when we look back and barely remember any moments from daks career.
We’re gonna be like welp I guess there were a lot of yards and definitely some wins against the nfc east. But I really don’t remember one significant wow moment.

hes maxed ou. Confidence shot. He’s got the yips.
at 30 and Injury prone and with yet another coach soon to be fired and a third star wr he will scapegoat he’s left without excuses. He’s got all that money but I’m sure he feels badly about letting everyone down, everyone seems to like him. He failed them.

I’m not concerned with the Chiefs who have a far better QB, light years, who when defenses play them use heavy zone. What we are talking about is Dak.

Uh no, teams played primarily man and facts are Dak SUCKED against zone his whole career. That’s what the clear data shows. And if you could his over-inflated stats against prevent, it’s worse.

Last year exposed it even more, because as the RB and OL play started crapping the bed the offense went to crap. To behind the year, Zeke and Pollard were averaging over 5 YPC each to start the season but that’s clearly unsustainable and Dak went into his typical garbage stretches of play. It’s always been that way for Dak since he’s gotten here.

Dak has been getting away with over inflated stats because teams were dedicated resources up front to stop the run.

Daks best game as a Cowboy was TB last year and they were basically in man all day and rarely even shadowed help on the side of Amari, who had like 16 catches. No team is stupid enough to do that regularly which is why Amari became the scapegoat for Dak last year.

I certainly do & will never forget it. Dak's rookie season when he marched into Grren Bay & Pittsburgh defeating both future Hall of fame quarterbacks, Wodgers & Worthlisberger. PRICELESS! :D

Yes that's exactly it, and a big part of that is KM and penalties.

It's very difficult to slowly and methodically move the chains when you have both a coordinator who refuses to run and a team who commits a ridiculous amount of offensive penalties.

Dude Tony Romo was a hall of fame worthy QB. Wether he accomplished enough to get there or not, he had the talent. If anything he was just too much of a gunslinger and it bit him a few times (and it also created magic at times, plays that only he could pull off). Cooper Rush could have all of that in him and he will still never have half the talent as Romo. Romo could sense pressure before it even got to him, roll out of the pocket, and deliver a strike a half a second later. And he got Laurent Robinson paid. Romo and Rush are not the same.

NO, you just dont understand football. If you thought any of these Dak or Romo teams Jerry put together were SB worthy with the coaching then again, you dont understand football.

Jerry is the problem, not Dak. Like most of the quality players that leave here and win championships.

No different then Stafford doing NOTHING for 12 years then immediately winning one when he gets on a championship quality team and coach.

That should have taught you something, but again, you dont understand football.

A talented roster can make up for a less then stellar QB. A less then stellar QB can't make up for a non-talented roster. Basic NFL football 101.

PS. This isn't the 1985 bears defense out there or the Raven's 2000 defense that carried each of those teams to Superbowls when their QB's were Blah. Unless we can hold these teams to less then 14 points a game we sure as hell ain't going to win much because the over on our offense for the rest of the year is 15 points.
Might have to hold them to a TD.
