I would would kick him to the curb and get a 3 million QB with the same productionWhile I agree the market dictates him getting about 26-28

Again the market for elite QBs is set at 30m+. It changes as the qbs sign new deals and the cap goes up. 8 years ago it was 20m. 8 years from now it will be 40m+. Just how it works. If Wilson, Ben, mahomes, luck, rivers , Stafford, cam, and even Goff, signed a new contract today they would all get 30m+.
OC has a ton to do with thatYou know how many sacks that idiot took in the Redzone?
You won't get that though ut of that price range. Be reasonable....I would would kick him to the curb and get a 3 million QB with the same production
Mia, wash, Denver, jags.Yes they would, I agree. All teams that don't need Dak Prescott and wouldn't offer him anything. That goes for most teams in this league at this moment. And that's besides the point Dak isn't elite. If there's not a big market for starting QBs then the chances of a slightly above average QB getting a contract for 25M-30M is slim.
If Dallas put Prescott on the Transition tag, give me three teams that might offer him a 28M a year deal. I'll be waiting. Then even if one does we could always match it. But it makes absolutely no sense paying him that right now. Find out what's he worth with the tag. It's a win win.
Prescott has led the Cowboys to 32 regular-season victories in his first three seasons. Only four quarterbacks in league history have done better.
The 14 game-winning drives engineered by Prescott in his first three seasons is a number that's not been topped. His 24 games with a quarterback rating of at least 100 ties the NFL record. He's the only quarterback to throw for at least 20 touchdowns and run for five other scores in each of his first three seasons.
This is why Jerry is going to pay him closer to $30 million a year average than $25 million a year average, like it or not.
While I agree the market dictates him getting about 26-28
It would be idiotic to "try the market" like so many other teams who are looking for QBs that have done half of what he has done so far. That would be a worse decision but arm chairs tend to think differently.Look, I have no control over Jerry's drunken antics. People do some crazy things and make ill purchases when under the influence, so yeah, you may be right. But again, what NFL teams are offering Dak huge money if the Cowboys don't? And if they did, how much do you think the offer would be?
IPersonally I think dak should get 25m and he'll at least get that. That would put him at 13.2% of the cap. That's right where Alex Smith is at. At 28m he would be 14.8m that would still put him under Rodgers at 18.6, Ryan at 16.9, cousin's at 15.8, Stafford at 16.1, Ben at 15.2. It would put him with rivers and cam at 14.4 and 14.5.
He should get 25m a year , might get 28m and could get over 28m but even being a dak fan that would be too much. With all that said, I care more about the gutanteee than the avg annual. That's more for thhr agent and player and for fans like us to debate. Lol
What I don’t understand is Dak (or someone parental or pastoral in his life who is wise advising him to) turning around and saying that he will take $15 million. he would be an instant hero. It’s a win win. He’s NOT an elite QB so this will allow the team to spend on top talent around him. Dak can continue to play the way he has and no one will blame him. He can be the Black Danny White and would still have respect at the end of his career. Oh and he would never have to buy a meal in Dallas ever again.Market Smarket.
They both can be idiots sometime.

The same stats people point to when praising Dak, Romo has surpassed. If Romo is overrated then what is Dak bud?You are late. Everyone on here knows I didnt care for Romo. Talk about overrated.

Haha thank you for being consistent, most around here can't even do that.Equally overrated. Two peas in a pod

But again as I say, its all arm chair ideas here not fact. No one here knows just how much Prescott would or would not be valued on the market. But one thing is clear, if the Cowboys want to try and go back to the QB lottery somehow believing the situation will improve could be more of a mistake than we realize. We may be able to at least buy talent but that doesnt mean chemistry enough to get you a win.I like Prescott but the truth is he got the offensive rookie of the year but the Cowboys had a great offensive line then and many think Elliott should have gotten that award. He had the proverbial sophomore slump but then the team as a whole had a lot of that same slump. Last year he did play better and the team as a whole played better especially the defense until they fell apart in the playoffs against the rams. The point here is unlike those here that think this or that, me included, the other 31 GM's have seen the same things and I don't think they have Prescott rated as a have to go get if he were able to test the free agent market which I seriously doubt the Cowboys are going to do. If he hit the market I'm sure there may be a couple of offers but they're not going to be the huge mega bucks deal many here are saying Prescott will get either from the Cowboys or any other team. GM's look at EVERYTHING and make offers based on EVERYTHING. The Cowboys have won a single playoff game with Prescott. Prescott took a lot of sacks last year. Now that was a combination of line play and holding the ball to long sometimes, but again the other 31 GM's saw that and that's not the type of thing that will cause them to roll out the huge bucks. He's shown promise but hasn't yet proved he's that elite type of QB and any offers would reflect that.
.
There are a number of teams looking to upgrade in QB, Jags and Niners are probably tops on that list. And beyond that having solid backups are also in need in case your main guy goes down. This entire situation is made worse by all the hypothetical numbers that are being thrown out on how much he would get and how much it would cripple the teams capability to win. If we are trying to win now as Jerry indicates, give the guy the extension he earned and keep it moving.First of all, "so many other teams" are NOT looking for QBs. I keep having to repeat this. It's as if the market itself is a team and Dak will find 28m under his pillow. Why would a transition tag be idiotic?
