I say we just cut Zeke, trade up for a QB, bench Dak, and let the rookie ride before he gets singed by this toxic workplace we witness every Sunday.
If you can’t trade him you have to go with him. That said, if I loved the QBs at the top of the draft, I would do whatever I could to move Dak for draft picks, flip those picks plus mult 1sts to get to the top of the draft and get a stud. Use the 30m in extra cap space to build the roster. Play Rush next year until the kid is ready then flip to him.

I realize that our amateur GM JJ will never do that but I can dream lol.

There are no options! Who are you going to bring in that scores 30 plus a game? A rookie is 50-50 at best. Rush??? Really? Brady? behind this Oline:laugh:Guys. It's a team game. Draft a great defensive class next season and Dak and the Dallas Cowboys will be just fine..

The proactive and correct approach...so the opposite will be done.
If that knows that he’s gone from front office darling to bridge quarterback maybe he would agree to move on if there was a situation that he liked.

Rush as a bridge quarterback is fine… Until a highly drafted rookie is ready. 30 points a game doesn’t really help that much if you screw up on a regular basis. Dak Prescott is turning into a rich man’s Carson Wentz… And that doesn’t win you championships.

I've been down on Dak myself, but he's probably who we are going to have to ride with for the foreseeable future. He ain't the worst, by far, and what probably needs to be done is to restructure the offense to be more in tune to his strengths and more importantly his weaknesses, which more than likely means Moore has to go. We should be a run centered team, the run game should have controlled the ball in the 2nd half yesterday, and we also MUST have a strong D. The D looked good early on but it seems like teams have figured DQ's scheme out and he can't adjust it. Texan fans were talking about firing Lovie Smith, if they do, I hope Dallas hires him.

I would be curious as to what Sean Payton could do with him Freddie Flintstone just isn’t cutting it.

First off, Jerry loves him, so he’s not going anywhere… There’s also that nasty no trade clause…But what if…

Impossible
Cut this offseason, pre June 1. 89m in dead money.

Not impossible,
Cut this offseason, post June 1. There is no point to do this as his P5 is guaranteed. Literally no reason to do this…

Possible but kills our 23 offseason.
Trade this offseason, pre June 1. A little cheaper than Outright cutting him as his guaranteed p5 would move with him. Still 58m in dead money.

Plausible
Trade this off-season, post June 1. This is the sweet spot. We would save 31m in cap space for 2023. We would still have 40 million in Dead money, but it would be spread over future years 2024 - 2026.

Trade - You ask why would anybody trade for him? The answer is that since we would eat his remaining signing bonus, the acquiring team would get him on a two year 65m non guaranteed contract. There is actually value in that… Still that no trade clause though.

So there you have it. The only realistic option for 2023 is a post June 1 trade, that Dak agrees to. I think we could get a first round pick for for him… Maybe something like the Carson Wentz deal between Philly and Indy - a 23 third rounder and conditional 24 first rounder. .

So you'd be aching to trade a guy that has the team at the top or among league leaders in several offensive categories ?

And instead of upgrading around him with better coaches or better players, you're dispensing trade possibilities, and we'd have to
re-start a search for new QBs all over again ?

Go figure.

Other than our head coach, our coaches are among the best in the league. We’re not upgrading that unless we get someone like Sean Payton.

Right now we’re projected and having 8m in cap Space for 2023. With Restructures of Dak and Lawrence we get to over 40m. If we cut Zeke and Tyron we got up to 65m.

This is where the Eagles eat our lunch. If they were in charge they would surround Dak Prescott with talent. With the goal of seeing what the man can do. That way, after the season, you would have a very good idea of what he was. What Jones did was “responsible “ cap management, but totally stupid in terms of maximizing a winning window. Perhaps the Eagles are smarter because they experienced wasting mcnabb’s ability with ****** receivers.

so I would be OK with bringing Dak back, but only, if we put a ton of money into wide receiver, TE, OL and plugging our defensive holes. I fear though that this will never happen, JJ will run it back and will be in Groundhog Day forever

Lol, Yes I would, if it meant maybe finally going deep into the playoffs. Winning is more important than stats. And when I say winning I mean winning multiple playoff games in a year.

Winning also means coaching and both sides of the ball. ,,and every time we've been in the playoffs, it's been the Defense that has failed us ...

and last two times we've made it to the playoffs, regardless of the DC Marinelli or Quinn , it always some NFL playoff (Rams or Niners) rushing the ball and running all over our Defense

I believe if the Cowboys wet the bed in the playoffs again, the Cowboys will have no choice but look at drafting a quarterback. 7 years and one playoff win does not cut it. With the money Dak is making there is no way the Cowboys extend him.

The problems haven’t just been him, but his play has become up and down the past season and a half. He’s had INT issues, and he’s missed games with injuries the past three years. He doesn’t run as well as he used to and has regressed. With just two years remaining on his contract the Cowboys will likely look to draft a QB in the next couple of years within the first three rounds. We have to start preparing in the event the Joneses don’t want to re-sign him. Dak is still a good QB, but he needs a real good team around him and the Cowboys aren’t very good right now. Games are starting to fall on his shoulders and it’s leading to a lot of mistakes.

Totally agree with you but Dak wanted to be paid as the highest paid player in the league. He has to take responsibility. I am glad he did for the Brown pick.

Dude, in my post I clearly stated that he has a no trade clause. it’s possible to get a player to agree to a trade even with said clause. Most players don’t want to be someplace that they’re not wanted.

I’d rather get some young coach that nobody but diehard football fans has heard of… Some brilliant guy looking for his big break… And willing to work his *** off once he gets it.

Dak still has two years remaining on his contract and I don’t see the Cowboys moving on from him but it’s possible they could take a QB within the first three rounds in April. They’re going to have to start preparing for life without him because they may not re-sign him.
Whats left of this season and the 2023 season then thats it.
