Our safeties were nothing less than a disgrace today...

yet Roy is staring into the backfield instead of worrying about the TD running right by him.

that's probably because Watkins was supposed to cover LJ

LOL. You're so clueless, that his post actually agrees with what I said, and you think he's proving your point.

Oh nevermind, this discussion isn't worth the effort.

The safeties were awful tonight. I will leave it at that.

1) Watkins was lined up directly in the MIDDLE of the field and takes off running to Anthony Henry's side of the field. Anthony Henry has 1 reciever to his side. Westbrook took off thru the middle of the line and then headed to the flat on Henry's side... but Ware shadowed him the whole way.
Why was Watkins lined in the middle of the field and then run to Henry's side? It looked like Henry had man coverage just like Ware.

You made absolutely NO POINT at all by quoting my statement. All I stated was the ACTIONS of Watkins and that it looked like he had a centerfield deep zone... which is where LJ Smith ran.

maybe Watkins wasn't supposed to run to help Henry? and was supposed to go after LJ after ROy let him go? if Parcells is yelling at him instead of ROy, that's a huge signal of who's fault it was on the play

The point is Watkins wasn't in the area. If he isn't there, someone, anyone, shouldn't let a guy run all by himself. Roy was the closest.

I understand. What if Bledsoe hadn't thrown 3 Ints, we would have won. "What if" can be played for forever.

So Roy was supposed to know Watkins wasnt there, even though he was facing the line of scrimmage and Watkins was behind him?

You're wasting your time. He doesn't get the notion that Watkins could have been LINED UP WRONG.

He was absolutely in the area until he watched McNabb turn his head to the left and he took off running that way... then he broke back to the right as the ball was thrown.

so I see you concede that you were wrong?

Considering Philly has a very good O-line and a big mobile guy like McNabb behind it, I was actually pleasantly surprised with the pass rush. Not that it was a terror, but it was better than I expected.

The safeties, however, were not even close to what I expected.

lets see...the pass rush was there on about 4 or 5 plays out of what, 30+ drop backs

the safeties made a couple of bad plays...and you guys are crucifying a rookie FS for having to guard a WR man to man 40-50 yds downfield...Roy is a SS, he was drafted in te top-10 because he was an explosive playmaker in college...he supports the run great...he was a great blitzer in college...he has proven beyond a shadow that he can match up well vs most TE's and RB's...yet more often than not this is not how is used on the football field...did he blitz even once today?

one of these days the lightbulb will go on in some of your heads...we suck on defense and play inconsistently because this teams' coaches have no clue whatsoever about how to rush a passer...whether its Parcells or Zimmer or a combination of both, I dont know...but its PAINFULLY OBVIOUS that niether has a clue what they are doing when it comes to pressuring QB's...and as long as QB's can take 7 step drops and throw totally uncontested passes downfield, bad things are going to happen

It just had to be Watkins fault.........right?

They were awful tonight.

At some point.. you might try giving up on the idiotic sarcasm and actually provide some thoughts on WHY exactly you think Roy is at fault other than "He was closest"

I'm finally coming around David, I'm tired of this coaching staff, I love how Parcells accumulates talent, w/ the help of Ireland, but he stinks on gameday more times than not

How would you run the defense differently?

We had this problem before BP got here.

Here is a hint: Zimmer the village idiot has been here all along.
