I wasn't talking to you with that comment, nor did I EVER say Schmitt played in the SEC.
Then why bring up the SEC when neither of us were?

I think he was referring to the prevailing view of McFadden against his idiotic view of McFadden.

Support of McFadden says that he dominated the SEC (a conference churning out NFL defenders) as the sole option on offense. Crazy people say that McFadden is garbage.
Oh brother.

Either way that statement shot him in the buns.

It case you weren't aware, he didn't play in the SEC.

It was the Big EAst I believe and thats an even stronger case for his argument because the Big East is one of the weaker big conferences over the last three years.

I never said McFadden was garbage. I just said he isn't the second coming as so many people here on CZ seem to think. Slowly it seems more and more people's view is starting to come back to earth as of late.

Marion Barber is one of the best short yardage backs in the NFL. Hoyte is one of the more punishing FBs in lead blocking. Its called we dont need him for that.

And he had 'soft hands' at the senior bowl. Thats fine and dandy but WR come in and take a couple of years to develop timing witht he QB as well as precise route running etc.

But lets talk about pass protection because that is whats critical. What did the senior bowl practices have to say about his ability to recognize where blitzes are coming from and who to pick up in what situation in what blocking schemes becaseu that is the crux of the issue. Im sure that WVU put a premium on things like that with their 3:1 run-pass ratio.
Barber and Hoyte are all hype.

Ask nyc to explain it to you. I personally don't get it. But that's what hype is per him.

I don't see Schmitt as a liability in passing situations. Yeah, I know WVU was a run oriented team. The FB gets pulled in most passing situations anyway so I don't see the point. The bottom line is he is a better blocker than Hoyte or Anderson. Is a better receiver than Hoyte. Is a better runner than Anderson. Can line up as a TE.

It improves the team. That's all I care about.

I must have misunderstood you calling him "Julius McFadden" then. Considering your opinion of Julius Jones (which is valid) I didn't think "garbage" was a huge stretch.

Maybe you were just being hyperbolic.

It's called short yardage situations and they are still critical in the NFL.

Did you by any chance read the reports of receiving skills from the Senior Bowl practices? No? Shocking.

Whoa whoa whoa, I'm drafting Barber in my fantasy team next year. I don't want us drafting a touchdown vulture, I had enough of that crap with Mike Alstott.

I was speaking directly to him based on his reply. I corrected what he should have said and gave reason why. It had nothing to do with you, theogt, or our current conversation. I didn't bring it up to you, because it wasn't applicable. You on the other hand felt the need to apply your thoughts on Schmitt to a quote that had nothing to do with him deflecting the actual intent of the quote in the first place. There was nothing with what I said.

Oh now hes a TE too. Thats nice. Did he line up at TE more than a dozen times as a Moutaineer?

And yes they do get pulled in most passing situations for good reason but when you put him in on non obvious situations you are tipping your hat that youre going to run. Id just runblitz every time hes in there even if they pass it youve got a noob back there pass protecting.

Also Ill wait to see him be a better blocker that Hoyte. He was hurt last year but the year before he was one of the more punishing blockers ive seen on the NFL level.

I read that 3 times and still have no idea what was said.

My bad if I am being dense.

Use the search function. I never once said he was garbage. As a matter a fact, I compared him to Herschel Walker many times. I just said it would be psychotic to trade up to draft McFadden. Hell to draft McFadden in the top five if you had that pick IMO would be psychotic.

02/10/08 - PRO POTENTIAL: FB Owen Schmitt is truly a throwback as a fullback who is a devastating blocker and broke an incredible 10 facemasks during his career at West Virginia. Schmitt also lined up at tight end on occasion last season, which enhances his versatility and makes him an H-back candidate in certain offenses. He figures to go in the fourth or fifth round.

Mcfadden is worth a top 5, let's not get silly now. Did you say the same thing about A.P. last year?

He started 4 games at TE. NFL Draft Scout mentions throughout their report that he played both fullback and TE.

Your cred = 0 on this topic.

You took my comment out of context. It wasn't directed at you or even about what we were talking about. Then proceeded to insult me with your misinterpretation.

Yes. I said the only person I would have drafted over Peterson was Joe Thomas. The Search function on CZ works well. :)

He punted 3 times in 2007. You'll notice I never once have brought up his punting. I could care less about that. If something happens to McBriar Nick Folk punted at Arizona and averaged huge numbers.

Try applying thoughts to someone else.

Why don't you tell me how many times he lined up at TE? Are you capable of producing a stat? I won't hold my breath. BTW, if you can't support a stat then you're arguing just for the sake of arguing and have no point.

Insulted you? Because I pointed out that WVU is not in the SEC? Dear me...
