Owen Schmitt

Yeah, I'm running for Treasurer of the SP's. I've told Theebs several times, "If I had my way, we'd cut Hoyte and draft Schmitt in the 4th round."

For once maybe we can get a 4th round draft to contribute during his rookie season. I love Isiah Stanback's potential, but the Skyler Green thing still haunts me. What a horrible pick. Schmitt would also be a special teams stud - like Johnston - he'll be a great upback on the Punt coverage unit. Combine he and Cricket on Kickoff coverage, DUDE...
He would be one pick I think could come in and start right away and improve the team. Instant improvement over Hoyte. If we're going to have 2 FBs let's have 2 who are versatile.

I'm being honest when I say this. I'd rather get him in round 4 than just about anyone we could get in round 1 or 2.

He's just a hard-working, talented, mean dude. Him and Barber in the backfield would be so fun to watch.

Owen Schmitt = Eduardo Najera
Deon Anderson = More talented, but raw.

I don't know squat about Najera, but Anderson is not more talented. It isn't even close.

His talent level (knack for making plays) plus his athleticism (way more athletic than Schmitt) makes him far more desirable in my book.

Anderson can catch like Schmitt, and once he gets his confidence in blocking and ST back, he is going to be a great player. Far more athletic than Schmitt.

Najera was a guy who exceled by effort alone. When he made plays on the courts, it was because of effort. Not talent. (not that he didn't have talent, he was in the NBA after all)

Schmitt won't be running around the best of the best high schoolers in the NFL. He will be running around with the best of the best period.

Now, don't take that as a slap at Schmitt. I like the guy and would love having him on the Cowboys. I just don't think it's going to happen as there is other talent and need combinations out there that will cause the Cowboys to draft someone other than Schmitt. Before the Cowboys could justify drafting him, he will be gone.

Anderson's talent and athleticism make him my choice. He just needs time, like many other players have needed in the past.

This is just laughable. Schmitt would run circles around Anderson.

We shall see.

Oh yeah, this seems laughable considering it's widely known that Schmitt runs in straight lines. Since that is the case, how is he supposed to run in circles? :lmao2:

Of course he'd be the starter.

He doesnt know passing offenses or pass protections much less NFL pass offenses and there is no way that they put him on the field as the starter. sorry theo that makes about as much sense as your 1st and 3rd idea.

You should be able to see that clear as day already.

I can! I can!

Really thas funny cause ive read more than one scouting report that says that hes not a very natural athlete and while hes a workout warrior, hes maxxed out.

I have watched Schmitt play and he doesnt outrun LBs so you keep telling yourself whatever crap you want just becasue he comes off RT and there is no one in 5 yards of him becaseu they got blocked.

A lot of people have fallen victim to hype. It's a dark day, because today theogt is no different. ;) :p:

Hype? What hype? There are a few people on this site that really like him and I'm one of them. How is that hype?

He has a lot more hype than a few people on this site. It's ok, everyone falls victim now and again. :D

The telecasts are loaded with hyperbole like.

'its like larry csonka reincarnated'
'hes the toughness of this mountaineer team'

and blah blah blah.

He's a tough guy. A punishing blocker. It's readily apparent on the screen. Sounds like they're just describing what they see.

Its called hype dude. There is nothing substantive. They actually said it while he was banging his head on his helmet after screwing up a punt. that wasnt toughness. That was dumb.

It's called describing his play. Marion Barber is tough. People describe him that way. They play with a reckless abandon that allows them to get more out of a play or to drive a defender back. It's hype, yes, but it's deserved.

There was a lot said about Kijana Carter before he came into the league. Are you saying that wasn't hype, it was real? It wasn't very real once he hit the NFL.

It's Hype. Anyway you look at it, it's hype.

This doesn't even make sense.
