It's a joke, all these Schmitt pimps who are trying to convince everyone how "versatile" he is. He's a lead blocker and nothing else. Who cares that he punted a few times? Who cares that he lined up at TE a couple times? They sure never threw it to him while he was out there.

He's a very good lead blocker with apparently some kind of magical mohawk that blinds and confuses people into thinking he's more.

He beats himself in the head with his own helmet. He cries after winning because he is so passionate. You just do not understand. You need an education.

Actually i was i specifically asked whether he did it more than a dozen times. you keep making crap up there.

and like i said iwant proof of any of this and you cant t do it. you make this stretch where 4 starts from a site that says he played it occasionally menas he ready to play TE on the NFL level. that is specious at best.

And how about you educate with some proof. i dont think you lie but i do think your deluded.
You questioned whether he had the versatility to play tight end. I informed you that he played it in college and even started at the position. Nothing specious here. Just you trying to spin your obvious misstep in the conversation.

I'd be interested in seeing even one scouting service that says he can't play some TE now and then. I admit, that one would intrigue me since all the others mention he plays that some.

Love this one from WVU themselves.

Physical fullback who ranks among the nation’s best ... powerful blocker with tremendous ball skills ... tough guy who loves to practice and work out ... spent some time this spring at tight end and adjusted well to blocking up front ... makes the difficult catch look easy ... a great team leader

And i still do. ive yet to see anything show that he played it even a dozen times. its goes without saying he didnt play the position predominantly in those games and you cant even quote the page where you supposedly get this information.

Now this tactic; you really have the emotional makeup of a 13 year old.

YOU MADE THE CLAIM. ITS NOT FOR ME TO PROVE YOUR CRAP.

I wouldnt contact them anyway i contact the National Scouting Combine themselves.

Let's see, he wasn't recruited anywhere. He walked on at Wisconsin River Falls. From there he earned a scholarship at WVU. In 2 years there he broke 10 facemasks. He recorded 106 knockdown or pancake blocks in 2007 and had 17 blocks that led to a TD. He squats 675 pounds, cleans 480, and is the #1 FB on every draft report out there except 1.

Yeah, it's all hyperbole, no substance at all.

Since when is how many facemasks he has broken matter?

This reminds me of a player we once converted from linebacker to play fullback and he broke ten shoulder pads or something ridiculous.

Then he dried up and blew away.

He started at TE in 20% of his college starts. You said something stupid and it was pointed out. Just get over it. God, you'd think a guy would know when to stop digging the hole deeper.

If you bother to go back and read I was responding to the accusation of hyperbole.

Oh, by all means try breaking a facemask. Then get back to me on whether it is impressive or not.

And that amounts to 4 total plays. Wow theo thats brilliant. In order to get a start you have toplay the first play of the game at a position.

Anyway im outta here.

Of course you wouldn't contact them. You won't contact National Scouting either. Because you know you'd be proven wrong.

So your argument boils down to you thinking he only played those 4 snaps at TE. Brilliant.

What is the world record for posts on a FB...gotta do my part. BTW, anyone who "beats himself in the head with his own helmet" needs to get out of football and into a doctors office.

Maybe I could resort to calling you a 13 year old. Or is that not childish enough? Could you really be any more of a hypocrite at this point?

I did read it, which is why I quoted it to begin with.

It is impressive. But it has absolutely zero to do with whether or not he will be a successful pro, nor does it say much to support the notion he is worth a high round choice when we have other needs unsatisfied. Nor does it come close to suggesting he would be a great value anywhere before the late second day.

But I still see, fourth round, even third which is absolutely ridiculous. He's not Mike Alstott. He's certainly not Lorenzo Neal, but I am sure he has broken more facemasks and recorded more pancake blocks per his WVU biography.

What is occurring is precisely what some have suggested.

Hype.

Watch a few YouTube videos of him running in the open field and leaving players in his wake? Suddenly, he's got 4.5 speed. Read a few scouting reports that mention he can occasionally split out wide or play TE, he's suddenly more versatile.

Pretty soon his legend will grow to the fact he's seven feet tall, kills men by the hundreds, shoots fireballs from his eyes and bolts of lightning from his backside.

Right, because Barber is known for getting 100% of an offense's snaps.

you really think Schmitt is going to see much more than 5 carries and maybe 10 receptions? I doubt it, he's got Barber, the back we draft, TO, Witten, Crayton, Fasano, even Hurd or Austin to compete w/ for balls

the most he's going to do is block

where's Jamar Martin when you need him? lol

Apparently Jamar is still in the hearts of some now who have found a replacement. Except this time they are suggesting spending third round draft choices on them.
