It's becoming such a culture on this board to bash people who are not outright homers or say lovey dovey things all the time. Not sure why that's accepted just yet. We did not win a Super Bowl for like the 14th season in a row. There are obvious issues. A season with a single playoff win used to be considered an utter failure, and now people are prancing around like they just won the lottery around here. How dare I question things that are somewhat relevant? I'm just a big trolling OP!

IMHO, regardless of this thread topic and the opinions voiced on either side of the discussion, i feel the above quote has a lot of validity.

maybe. but it's also become "pop culture" to bash the cowboys in every post. fire jerry jone the GM, trade any given player - so when one extreme rises, expect the opposite extreme to rise with it.

if you see people bash the negative posters, maybe that's because being negative is all they post. i know of quite a few who can't mention jones without telling us how badly he sucks. period.

sorry, but that just gets old and while i appreciate the counter views, please, my kingdom to make the broken record jump to something new.

then when people post their "realism" with jabs and namecalling - are they really out for intelligent discussion?

don't think so.

so while it may be fun to poke fun at ONE side of this problem, there's a lot more than that contributing TO the problem.

Its called listening to the radio and hearing the reports from people who do know.
.
I know you are not talking about guys like Galloway, Hanson, etc....you may as well be talking to a light post as far as real football knowledge goes:eek:

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume it was a former NFL coach that said this.

ROFL.

The culture is to bash Wade or Jerry even over completely stupid things such as this. It's the new black. Everyone proclaim themselves non-homers and attack the coach and GM/owner for all we did was win the NFCE and make it to the divisional round. So let's jump on the bandwagon of the team who went farther this ONE year and proclaim how much like them we want to be.

The realistic expectations entering this season were to win a single playoff game. End the friggin playoff win drought finally. Well that happened but the inane posts continue. The same posts that said we'd never win a playoff game or be able to beat Philly in Philly or new Orleans in New Orleans. You'd think at some point the shame would set in and they'd just shut up. But, alas, no that doesn't happen. They cry and whine and complain until eventually the team does lose.

First off, I'm far from a negative poster and I truly think we can beat anyone during any season, but I feel like we were handed the keys to a Super Bowl champion, and have not shown much for it in the last 3 seasons. We have been underachieving.

Now I'm just as happy about the playoff win as any other fan, but I think we'd be in a much better place right now if we had kept the Parcells' crew intact. He really is that only reason that we're not still floating in 5-11 land.

Theebs our fans gripe every week about every thing. That point of my thread, which is unfortunately getting missed by some who think I'm overreacting and "crying", is that we should've coddled the people responsible for turning our franchise around and making us relevant again. Payton was part of that staff and he was clearly a solid coach.

Now if people want to disagree with that and give some solid reasons why, I'd love to hear them, but I'm tired of these sarcastic replies that try to light people up who don't say something homerish. I call it like it is both ways, so I don't need people labeling me here just cuz I'm not always pro Jerry. If you have a problem with that, then don't waste ur time posting here.

Stop reading the thread to respond when I got to this post.

You really don't know what you're talking about on a few points.

1) Payton was never a "Parcels guy"and not someone you should consider part of the Parcels coaching tree. And he was never "our guy".
Payton did not learn to coach under Parcels or in his time with the Cowboys. He was a veteran NFL coordinator and a good one at that.
We and Parcels were lucky to get him.

2) There was no legit shot for us to keep Payton and groom him as Parcels' replacement. The timing was off and it just wasn't meant to be. Nothing Jones could do, short of firing Parcels was going to keep Payton from turning down a 2nd HC offer.

I'm a Jones supporter. Call me a homer, that's fine. I do admit to giving him the benefit of the doubt more than most.

But starting this thread the day after Payton wins a SB, to blast Jones for letting him go is beyond moronic.
It's revisionist, delusional BS.
