Park Miles on the Bench

Miles brings things to the offense that no one else does including Dez. His problem is staying on the field. He can play the slot. He can play outside. He has size, speed, and knows the offense. He gets over the middle at least as well as Dez. This conversation doesn't occur unless he misses all the time he has. But that is a legitimate problem. That and his salary.

Your 100% correct. But if the guy is healthy the guy shouldn't be "parking" anywhere like the OP and several others have stated. If the guy was hobbled or hurt he should be sitting on the bench. But now that he's healthy and looking good even in limited targets....I'm riding with him. This offense looks better with him than without.

Williams was terrible on 3rd down. Miles is where he should be, doing what he should be doing.

Getting more snaps? Agreed thats where he should be...

Hes yet to do what he should be doing. Yet he probably will be putting up more and more numbers as the season continues.

You think those guys can out produce a healthy Austin? I just dont see it.

If Austin is healthy.

I just don't see him at anything like has been in the past.

Now maybe by game 16 he's contributing..

But until then..yes..play the others.

Miles is not going to be on the team next year considering his salary and production (of lack of)....................I think we all know that.

We don't all know that. The year is not over yet. Give him 7-8 targets and let's see what he can do. T Williams should be getting 3-4 deep targets per game to stretch the field and take advantage of his one on one situations, that's about it. Miles is healthy and is a proven home run threat underneath. He looks fast right now, Tony is not looking his way...IMO that is about to change.

I just don't understand the point of this. As if Miles has been targeted that much.......I can see if he was our #1 option or getting 10+ targets a game....Miles this season he's been hurt and when he's been out there he's been more decay if anything. Romo at times won't look his way. But seeing where the hate is coming from in this thread, I guess its Miles fault he can't throw to himself or that his hammy's are unreliable.

Nah, it's nobody's fault. Nobody's fault that this team has flushed away close to $20 million for players contributing nothing.

The NFL is about production, not nostalgia. Austin is getting paid like a Top 10 receiver and contributing nothing.

Situations like this are exactly why teams lose.

Prime pay for poor production.

If Austin was doing anything close to what some of you think, he'd be tearing up the field and not another hamstring.

But instead he's a ghost, all too willing to fade into the background until the Turk comes calling.

yes its the haters. Miserable folks... or blind.
Miles Austin is the best #2 option when healthy... which he is now.

You know what? I see a pattern with you. Ill just put you on ignore.
Perhaps over the next few years youll learn a little bit about football... Though youll still be on my (and many others) ignore list.

Here are the numbers for the year for Romo's targets:

Witten: 54 Receptions on 81 Targets for 622 Yards, 6 TDs, 0 INTs, a 114.33 QB Rating, and 7.7 Yards Per Attempts

Dez: 68 Receptions on 112 Targets for 912 Yards, 9 TDs, 2 INTs, a 105.95 QB Rating, and 8.1 Yards Per Attempts

TWill: 33 Receptions on 56 Targets for 531 Yards, 5 TDs, 2 INTs, a 105.58 QB Rating, and 9.5 Yards Per Attempts

Beasley: 31 Receptions on 41 Targets for 293 Yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, a 92.84 QB Rating, and 7.1 Yards Per Attempts

Austin: 17 Receptions on 33 Targets for 160 Yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs, a 65.21 QB Rating, and 4.8 Yards Per Attempts

I think his only slim chance to stick around would be for him to take the 'cap hit' via a 'Doug Free' type restructure.

If he were to agree to a deal for $2 million to try to resurrect his flagging career?

Maybe then he could stick around.

I won't lie i'm not familiar enough with restructuring. I didn't even know that was a option with Free. I thought it was cut or keep him for his salary. I knew about restructuring just didn' know the rules behind it.

If i'm Miles i'd probably go to a team and audition for a bigger contract somewhere else. Maybe tryout for the Pats? Something along those lines. A team with a solid or great quarterback where he'd have a shot at being a #1. I wouldn' tbe upset if Miles was here next year with a reduced salary like Free if possible.

There's no doubt in my mind he can play. I just have a fear of his hammy's. Its unfortunate for him that he has hammy problems like that.

Did you see the game where Dez played the Giants? Prince A wasn't guarding him that game. He was on Miles. He's been their best corner all year.....so to say Miles is a after thought to opposing defenses? He's only a afterthought to a small minority of Cowboy fans who have this blind infatuation of Terrance Williams and Cole Beasley.

If you want a stat of how good Miles has been how about look at how this offense has looked with him as opposed to how its looked without him.

2 games, 2 receptions for 35 yards.

We're done here.

Austin's problem has been his hamstring. Let's don't act like its been anything other than that. That's a big problem don't get me wrong.....but some guys are prone to injuries. It is what it is. We know his hammy's are a problem and we'll handle him accordingly this offseason. But as of right now from what I can tell he's healthy and he's our 2nd best receiving threat on this team when healthy.

Unfortunate for everyone.

But there's no way to justify keeping him or paying him if he can't and doesn't produce.

In the business of the NFL and the salary cap era, it just can't happen.

You know what I like even more though? The fact in the past two games we are 2-0 and the offense seems to have a pulse. But I guess individual stats are more important than actually winning games. Makes sense.

Healthy and still not producing?

A bad sign.

Which one has been hurt by hammy problems and which one hasn't? And 1 TD and 1 INT doesn't excite me as much as you guys....

They're infinitely more tangible than imaginary stats saying that we've won the past two games because of Miles Austin and his zero production.

Maybe the wins have more to do with the fact that we've faced sub .500 teams and our pattern continues?

Let's see if 'Houdini Austin's' magic invisible production holds up when we play a team above .500 and then we'll resume our conversation.

My point is, I only care about wins. If Dez has 0 catches in a win I could careless. And on that big run Dunbar had did you see who the receivers out there blocking and one of our bigges runs all year? Miles and Bernadeau.

Miles is causing match up issues with defenses. Witten isn't double teamed, Beasley is matched with safeties. Defenses are not taking Williams as seriously as Austin. The passing offense is better with him in the lineup. That is the only contribution that matters right now.
