Parson going at it wrong!

I think most people believe Jerry is delaying giving Parsons a new deal until the last minute for publicity and attention. Let's say this is true, then he is screwing with a player in a way that I think is just awful. Say what you want about Micah but he is a human being and by all accounts he is a decent person. Why screw with him like this. At least tell him the deal is coming, it'll get done or something to that effect. What I have heard is they haven't even been in contact with Micah's agent.

If Jerry is screwing with Micah just so he can get the attention at Micah's expense, that is really not a good look for Jerry. I would not blame Micah for refusing to sign a deal in Dallas at this point. I would not fault him if he demanded a trade.

Are you counting his rookie deal as his first contract.

Ok let me rephrase this. His first negotiation was after his injury. His second negotiation however was after he’d been handsomely paid.

Better? And let’s not compare Dak and Micah. One was a 4th rounder and one has money already being a first rounder.
I’m counting his rookie deal as not having security. He was a fourth round pick. However, he did have endorsements but his second contract provided him with life-changing security. There’s players that have made millions of dollars and have gone broke. High first round picks make a lot of money, but that money can go. These second contracts are life-changing with a lot of guaranteed money.

The bottom line is Parsons is an elite pass rusher and has been since day 1.
If anyone thinks missing training camp will make him less effective as a pass rusher or less effective as a run defender, you’re wrong. He will always be an elite pass rusher and a liability vs the run.

He will play this season because he is under contract to earn 24 million. That’s more than 1.4 million per game. And we all know Jerry can franchise tag him next year for 28 million if he wants. Personally, I wouldn’t pay him yet.

Today, Jerry is in the driver’s seat. He could have saved money by extending Parsons last year or even at the end of the season. Now the best rushers have signed and set the market. Parsons’ pay is not going to escalate much between now and next summer. But now, at this point, I’d wait. 1. I save money this year. 2. I get to see where my team is with Sam Williams and EZ. Neither will be Parsons, but if they both play great, Jerry can resign Parsons next summer or consider franchising him and seeking a trade.

Jerry should have signed Parsons a long time ago. At this point, signing him to 40 million per year only makes Parsons happy, but it’s not necessary.

It wasn’t me comparing them. The fact Dak was starting and making 4th round money but continued to play and not hold out says a lot.

There is no right or wrong way to handle this type of personal business. What you do, how you choose to handle it is up to you. What Parsons or any player chooses to handle it is 100% upto him. At the end of the day he has to like how he takes care of business.

We as fans pay for his salary

This is a terrible way to look at it in my opinion. Jerry pays him, and he's earned a new contract. How he goes about negotiating is 100% on him, how Jerry negotiates is on him, we control neither.
