I think they realize they are dealing with a different kind of cat in Parsons. He would just as soon go play for a PA team, if the money is right.

They can 5th year option him and then go tag but they better tag him as a DE.

Are the Cowboys built to have one of the highest paid D players in the league and still have their offensive stars? They have always been out of balance to the offense with money.
He’s no different than most players he’s going to want to get paid top dollar and would be willing to play for the highest bidder if given the opportunity.

We keep him throughout his 4 year contract.
We activate his 5th year option.
We use the Franchise tag on him for a 6th year on the top 5 average which keeps him below the top guys. If we haven’t won anything after having him for 6 years, let him walk. I know that’s crazy to some fans, but why set the market with a guy who is likely going to start breaking down between years 7-10. You’d be paying him for the past instead of the future.

He is entering his 3rd year. We don’t have to do anything but the 5th year option and one franchise tag to control his rights through 2027.
He and his agent will read through that. There's no way in hell you're getting a 6th year ( maybe not a 5th ) from him w/o a new deal or holdout.

I would want to know his trade value before signing him to an expensive lengthy second contract.

Parsons will be looking to be the highest paid defensive player in the league.... i am sure of that.

You’re the perfect example of the type of fan I was just talking about. Lol You’re one of those that if you could get a good haul for him you would trade him.

Everything is for sale at the right price.

It's a mistake to think differently.

Anyone would trade Parsons for 5 first round picks.

The day Micah signs his contract he will absolutely be the highest paid non-QB in the league. Then someone will pass him by as well.

At the minimum it would be 5 years, 150 million with 100 million guaranteed. Minimum

You honestly believe Patrick Mahomes and players of his caliber are up for sale for the right price? Lol No one is going to give up 5 first round draft picks for Parsons and it wouldn’t take 5 first round draft picks for you and a number of fans on this board to trade him. If it was up to some of you the Cowboys would have a roster full of jags. Draft picks don’t guarantee anything they’re a roll of the dice. Parsons is a transcendent player who hasn’t even reached his full potential and no one trades players like that. Our defense wouldn’t be half as good without him.

How many sacks did Micah get against the 49ers both playoff seasons? 0. But he wants to be paid like the best?

Remember how he was talking smack against Dak and D-Law getting overpaid? Well, KARMA!

Don't overpay for Micah. Use his own words (and lack of playoff production) against him.

This is my favorite form of defense. When your argument makes no sense and starts to break down just compare Parsons to Mahomes. Makes about as much sense as comparing the Zeke hold out to the Smith hold out.

I didn’t compare Parsons to Mahomes. The fan I replied to claims any player is up for sale for the right price. Do you agree? I’ll ask you the same question I asked him would you trade Mahomes for the right price?

Of course not that is why it has nothing to do with the argument. Parsons and Mahomes do not belong in the same discussion. Parsons may not be up for sale but to imply that he should not be, similar to Mahomes, is foolishness IMHO. Go back and review the career of Khalil Mack. It is a worth while case study given the topic of this discussion.

Is there no limit to the amount of money you would pay Parsons? Is there no amount of draft picks you would accept in trade? Of course not- so now it's just a debate about how much money or how many draft picks.

Your statement that the roster would be full of JAGS if it was up to me is hogwash! I've never advocated that. I will grant you the point that "draft picks don't guarantee anything". This is true, and Parsons is one hell of a "bird in the hand".

My original statement, which I stand by, is it would be good to know what Parson's trade value is before signing him to an extraordinarily expensive contract. It's just common sense, and good business.

There is no dispute that Parsons is a game changing player. How long he can maintain that level, and what percentage of the team's salary cap is warranted are up to debate.

A lot of those teams didn't make the playoffs.... Parson's is going to want like 25-30 a year imo... that is a lot. I love the kid and want him to be a life timer here, but it is a huge cap hit. I am torn ...

yep, but you aint getting a good haul for a guy that is about to get paid HUGE money. Teams, it now appear to consider the contract they are taking on in addition to the players worth when they consider what to give up for a player.

AND, you pray to get a player of Parsons level when you draft players..... only to then rush to trade them away???? ***
