If a team offered me 15 first round picks and 10 second round picks, you're darn right I'm trading him. KC would too.

In business, everything is for sale at the right price. Only amateurs think otherwise.
You’re continuing to talk fantasy football. No team is going to offer 15 first round picks and 10 second round picks for any player. In business that’s called bad business. Lol

Great! Now we're in complete agreement.

Since we've agreed that there is some price we would be willing to accept, the only question is what that price is. Reasonable people may disagree on what they would accept...
We’re not in complete agreement because you’re talking complete fantasy football. The prices you’ve been coming up with no one is going to pay! Reasonable people aren’t going to offer the NUMBER of premium draft picks you’re coming up with for a player. You can’t just give away 5 or more years worth of premium draft picks for one player and build a competitive team regardless who your QB is.

He’s no different than most players he’s going to want to get paid top dollar and would be willing to play for the highest bidder if given the opportunity.
Of course he will but can they do that and still have the offensive salary they always have? Something has to give.

When you have a truly great transcendent player, you figure things out to make it work. However, it may be at the expense of another player. They have three big contracts coming up with Parsons, Diggs and CeeDee. It’s going to be hard to sign them all. Someone could end up being the odd man out, but it won’t be Parsons.

I explicitly stated that this was unrealistic. Try reading more carefully. It was an extreme example to prove a point- that every player would be traded if the price was high enough.

You did in fact agree that you would trade Parsons for some price.

Whether or not any team would pay that specific price is beside the point. I also agree with you that no team would pay the price in my example (5 #1's).

To make an intelligent decision in re-signing Parsons, it would be helpful to know what the financial cost would be, and also what his trade value would be. That doesn't mean you're trying to trade him. It's part of the equation with any player.

In a couple years Parsons will be the highest paid defensive player in the league regardless of his position.

He plays too hard. A good fault to have but he burns himself out by the end of a season. He's one of the greatest edge rushers for the Cowboys I have even watched.

I pick up his 5th year option and then give him the non-exclusive tag, IMO this will give us his best 5 years of his career on his rookie deal and will probably net us two 1st round picks in compensation.

After the early 90's when FA started, it's all about your team and players normally do not stay with the same team throughout their career anymore. Since it's a business now, treat it so and make the un-emotional choices.
I Agee with you
But Jerry will give him 35m a year.
We always overpay our own free agents.
Because......
We love our guys.
My concern is he will be broken down by then.
He keeps going up against OL that outweigh him by a ton.

it does not make good sense. You are talking about young guys with fragile egos. You dont look to other teams to find out trade value unless you are going to trade them. They find out you were shopping them and they get butt hurt then demand to be traded because they were "Disrespected."
It's also a pointless endeavor as we already know what his trade value is. At minimum two first round picks. It's not a mystery. No need to have happen what you pointed out.

You’re not proving any point by providing an extreme example. The only way you can find out his trade value is to offer him up. That certainly wouldn’t make him happy. An intelligent decision is to re-sign him. The Cowboys have had back to back 12 win seasons and back to back playoff seasons with him on our defense. Our defense was historically bad the year before we drafted him. He’s off to one of the best starts of any Cowboys player in franchise history. No team would trade a generational player who hasn’t even reached their full potential.

We all know the level of play Micah has displayed but the 6-7 game stretch where he merely played at a mortal level should be paid factored in. Was it an anomaly or sign of things to come?

The original LT never had that kind of slump that I can remember…..he was a consistent game wrecker

This is exactly right!!! I just hope the Cowboys don't screw around with him the way they did Dak. Get the deal done and don't tag him.
Exactly wrong like Stephen usually is. He’s a great player but his body will wear down; it’s already starting. He has been nicked the last 2 years. It’s a physical reality - he cannot keep bumping up against 300 lb. plus defensive lineman and getting chip blocked in addition without paying the price. Warrior that he is, at some point his will won’t be enough to overcome his body wear. A huge contract will be a mistake. A huge one.

You sir make too much sense and your theories are not in line with Cowboy policy. Be prepared to be severely disappointed. Parsons will hold out after 3 years. He will be given a contract that no one could ever hope to live up to. He will become a liability from a team perspective. He will be cut and we will move on. It is the cycle of life.
.....don't forget, he will not be loved on this board after rookie contract. Wait for it.

How many sacks did Micah get against the 49ers both playoff seasons? 0. But he wants to be paid like the best?

Remember how he was talking smack against Dak and D-Law getting overpaid? Well, KARMA!

Don't overpay for Micah. Use his own words (and lack of playoff production) against him.
I'd actually put an incentive in Micah's contract to talk MORE trash about Dak.

It was a probably a sign that he wanted the Sack record and would pass-rush at most every opportunity, which, as in the Eagles (away) game leaves him exposed to a RRPO with a mobile QB.

I would love to know his MAIN motivation: Successful team, Personal stats or Money (which could be enhanced by the personal stats).

If he can’t hold up physically at the position he is most effective at, what is his true value? Highest paid defensive player ever?

If I’m the Cowboys I’m trading, not paying, great player not sure I’d consider him generational like some here claim.
