Patrick Robinson deal put on hold **Update: Signs with Colts**

Our recent track record in FA really isn't any better. How terrifying is that?

Cowboys have taken salary cap frugality to a new level this offseason.

It's hilarious that we really appear to be headed towards a summer camp with basically the same secondary we had last year with maybe a rookie thrown into the mix.

It isn't funny because it is unnecessary.

When has Free Agency killed us? Don't say Carr because he is playing out his entire 5yr/50m contract. That doesn't sound like a colossal failure when the guaranteed money was used up 3 years ago.

Before that we had Leonard Davis and Deion Sanders. We use FA as the bogeyman that cripples teams but we never use it. Our worst contracts have been guys we drafted or traded for and signed to second and third deals. That is even worse, we see them every day.

IF faced with that choice between 2 CBs, i go Hargreaves(in a trade down a few spots if possible). I'm tired of the Cowboys being stuck on the 6'1 190-200 lbs prototype. The last good CB they acquired was Scandrick, who doesn't meet their current size requirement. Anyway i think Hargreaves will be the better CB. Quick feet, smooth hips and explosive out of breaks.

I don't think he is a bona fide starter of any real consequence. His coach from last year today said he is inconsistent with playing with enough intensity which is why even with injury issues in the secondary he did not hold down the starting role throughout the year. If we drafted another Claiborne or Scandrick, we would be matching or surpassing Robinson in my view. I get your concern and comment though with much respect. We could draft a bum too. I don't have concern to the level I have on the defensive front.

If this forces us to draft Ramsey and resign Hardy instead of drafting Bosa, I'll consider it a blessing in disguise.

I'd rather have Ramsey/Hardy than Robinson/Bosa.

To be fair, they did replace the largest hole on the roster at 1T.

I disagree partly. Replacing Hayden was a need but not a priority, especially if you listen to what the front office said were clear needs - pass rush, backup QB. They whiffed on secondary, pass rush and backup QB. You gotta work hard to reach that level of futility in free agency. LOL.

FWIW, I am a big fan of the Thornton signing as well as grabbing Morris on a cheap deal. But those two signings ain't coming close to winning you squat when you can't touch the QB and can't stop a passing attack.

We draft better than the Patriots. Both the Steelers and Patriots have been more active in free agency than we have been. Green Bay is our true model and everyone from Aaron Rodgers to their fans have complained about the work Ted Thompson has done. Foolishly complained I might add.

Oh no. The team is forced to consider Ramsey, the best player in the draft, at 4.

I am pretty disappointed about not landing Robinson.

I had visions of a secondary that looks like this.

FS Byron Jones SS Jalen Ramsey
CB Scandrick CB Robinson CB Claiborne

Carr and Church cut which would free up a ton of cap space. There will be a surprise cut or two as teams set their final rosters. There just might be some gems in there. It would have been great to be able to land a couple of them. Maybe even would have given us a head start towards resigning Fred and Martin.
