Considering the last time we found a bona fide starter past the 3rd round was 2008, no, not really.
Our recent track record in FA really isn't any better. How terrifying is that?

Cowboys have taken salary cap frugality to a new level this offseason.
It's hilarious that we really appear to be headed towards a summer camp with basically the same secondary we had last year with maybe a rookie thrown into the mix.
It's mindnumbingly funny.
It's a sound strategy but you have to draft a lot better than the cowboys have
It isn't funny because it is unnecessary.
When has Free Agency killed us? Don't say Carr because he is playing out his entire 5yr/50m contract. That doesn't sound like a colossal failure when the guaranteed money was used up 3 years ago.
Before that we had Leonard Davis and Deion Sanders. We use FA as the bogeyman that cripples teams but we never use it. Our worst contracts have been guys we drafted or traded for and signed to second and third deals. That is even worse, we see them every day.
This was a gut punch.
Could make Ramsey or Hargreaves the primary options now with the first pick.

It is, and it works for the league's better teams like New England, Pittsburgh, or Green Bay.
Unfortunately, we're not them.
The last time I got angry about something my favorite sports team did or didn't do, I was in middle school.
I'm having a great time, it's all entertainment. But if I had to choose between anger and "Meh.", I'd chose anger. At least then I'm getting some sort of entertainment out of it.
I'm always entertained just for the fact that I don't let what the Cowboys do affect my happiness. They do great, I feel great. They do poorly, I feel fine. People cry about the Cowboys, I laugh and enjoy poking fun at them.

And they are forced to look at a Ramsey or Hargreaves instead of maybe going QB because they failed to fill in free agency ANY SINGLE MAJOR HOLE (including what Jones said was their biggest needs) they had after the season ended.
It's really quite funny because it's just so sad that they could whiff on just about every big need they had.
To be fair, they did replace the largest hole on the roster at 1T.
Yes, they came up way short everywhere else.

Oh no. The team is forced to consider Ramsey, the best player in the draft, at 4.And they are forced to look at a Ramsey or Hargreaves instead of maybe going QB because they failed to fill in free agency ANY SINGLE MAJOR HOLE (including what Jones said was their biggest needs) they had after the season ended.
