Patriots fans nervous about Romo's landing spot

Interesting.

Romo has been overly criticized for years by some people. He's no longer the starter but wants to play as a starter. One option being speculated is Denver but seemingly some people feel that he "shouldn't be allowed to go outside the division and outside the conference because he might defeat Dallas down the road?

So not only did some people want him to lose the job he's dream of landing--and did--but some people don't want him to seek his dream OUTSIDE the NFC East and OUTSIDE the NFC?

The guy cannot, literally, catch a break with some people. Selfishness knows no limits. The funny thing is that some people have always said Romo can't win in the playoffs, which begs the question...

If he "can't" win in the playoffs what does it matter which team he goes to next?

What is WRONG with some people?

can I give this more than one "like?"

Are these the same "people"?

Both make sense at face value 'on paper', but several factors will play a role.

I don't rule out Chicago, or anywhere that Scott Linehan could be hired as a head coach if things continue going well for him.

I think Denver, NY Jets and Arizona are the three landing places that make the most sense.

Good question. In my opinion there shouldn't be "any" people that makes up "some" people but that's not realistic either. The entire post-Dallas Romo speculation is astonishing to me when considering what has been said in the past about him--and that's a lot to say the least.

If Romo wants to sniff a SB, he'd better stay with the Cowboys. There's not a better team in the league that's set up to win a SB in the next few years. The rest are just stat padders the way AZ was for Emmitt. He may not be the starter here, but this is his best shot.....

A healthy (big if) Romo on that Broncos team would be scary as hell. Instantly takes them to #1-2 in the AFC. Probably the entire league.

John Elway will bank on another older, experienced, quality QB getting them another Superbowl ring while they find out if Lynch is their future or if they need to go back to the drawing board and draft another guy.

Jerry will also begin that conversation by saying "If you like what Romo did in mentoring Dak, you will love what he does with Lynch".

I don't see Denver being a good option with that offensive line and their CAP situation.

To me the Jets make the most sense, they have a solid running game and good WRs.

Plus the Jets would be willing to pay for a quality QB.

Also Romo would be able to handle the NY Media and drive sales of season tickets and merchandise. That increase alone could pay his salary with the Jets.

I agree, nobody who criticized him should now be stating an opinion of where he 'should be sent'. That would be the very definition of hypocrisy.

Denver and the Jets are the teams that everyone seems to be talking about in this scenario. The team that really makes a lot of sense to me is Kansas City. The cap hit isn't horrible if they move on from Alex Smith. The walrus knows and respects Tony a lot. The defense is exceptional and Tony would be an ideal fit for the offense there.
That would actually make Jeremy Maclin a smart signing. With Alex Smith, he is useless.

what veto rights?

I don't think he has veto rights, but the threat of retirement would probably be enough that we'd have to deal him to a team he actually wants to play for. dealing him to SF, would likely means he doesn't play, and they know it.

Yes it would be. We don't have to let that happen btw. If we don't get an impact player in return, Tony could sit there on our bench til rapture.

I agree mostly but perhaps I'm being harsh. I can't stand Terrell Owens but always acknowledged his talent. Thing is, I frequently bagged on him while admitting I was being hypocritical. I guess I wouldn't mind as much if some people were honest while bagging on Romo as long as they confessed about their own hypocrisy.

they aren't good. I just doubt that any team would trade for a then 37 year old QB unless they were a QB away from a deep playoff run.

Yeah, but neither are the 3-7 Jets but they're on your list. And given the respective talent on both teams, I'd say they're the bigger disappointment. Most expected the Bears to be bad during what is considered a rebuilding year, but the Jets were expected to be contenders and have been awful.

There are obviously a lot of factors involved, but I don't rule the Bears out, especially because I think they're done with Cutler.

Oh I totally agree. Like I mentioned in another thread, I wouldn't be shocked if teams just wait for his release.

Out of respect and a way to say thank you, I would release him and let him chose the team he wanted to play for.
