Peppers on his way out? Boys one Possibility?

I could see this still happening. He'd really put us over the top defensively. He'd sell oodles of tickets for the new stadium. Plus he'd also do this while not being a 'riske' acquisition in the vain of a Pac-Man or a TO. Julius is a pretty stand up guy by comparison. The only concern is his age and the amount of money he will demand. Though at least for us we have the "favortism" aspect of being a team he has vocally said he really wants to play for.

I actually say we should do it. It's time for this team to finally have again a little addition by addition.

peppers can do things on a football field that Ellis can only imagine. Now Ellis outworks him on details because he has to being a much less gifted athlete.

Peppers would be great for our defense. we than would have a dominate pass rush to make up for not having a mammoth at NT.

No he really doesnt. If the Cowboys somehow acquire him, I hope I am wrong, but am sure I am not.

Come on now. Peppers has been one of the best pass rushers in the NFL for years. He has double digit sacks in all but two years of his 7 year career and averages double digit sacks for those 7 years.

Hershel was a tremendous talent, but it never translated into the field after his career in the USFL. Ellis is a solid player, but he's not nearly as talented as Peppers and he's played up to his potential.

what is this about Julius Peppers' age ?

He just turned 29 years old, he's in the middle of his prime, and he's one of the best pass rushers in the league ? Players like him can play another 8 years at a pretty high level without any problems. Even when he starts slowing down 5, 6 years from now, and can no longer be a 3 down player, as a situational pass rusher, he can get you 8-10 sacks per year easily. Maybe even more.

You guys are making it sound like if he's 35 years old at the twilight of his career.

Didn't we just led the league is sacks last season?

The dominant rush is already in Big D.

Peppers would add to it, but would the juice be worth the squeeze?

I think we should get him.

It has been proven time and time again that the more, big name veteran free agents you acquire, the better your chance of winning a Super Bowl.

Peppers isn't coming to dallas, so forget talking about!!!

One, we have no money to pay him or picks that Carolina would want. With Ware's contract coming up, every player is tied to dallas that wants out of their situation.... remember Ray Lewis saying he'd like to play in dallas.....it was all a ploy to get a better deal in Baltimore, he was never leaving baltimore...

We won't be signing or trading for ANY big name players

Unless he is going to put on 40 lbs and plug the middle and play for half his salary it isn't happening.

If BP was here, we may have been players - he was always very high on Peppers. And I may remember incorrectly, but he used to say he was the one player that he would want on his team if he could pick anyone. I think it may have been the PC before the Carolina game when Romo made his first start.

I did not realize he was only 29= thought he was a couple older then that...

The mantra of Danny Snyder.

If Julius Peppers wants to be a Cowboy, maybe he shouldn't have blown off his pre-draft visit to Valley Ranch in '02?

We sometimes invite players who will be off the board before we select because we know they will eventually become free agents later on in their careers.

Peppers didn't seem to care.

yes bacause he would be a better OLB than Ellis or Spencer.

Pep hasn't played the position before.

Would trading whatever it would take to acquire a player who doesn't know the scheme be worth it when you already have two players at the position who know the scheme?

And didn't Peppers complain his way to playing on the weakside in Carolina?

Would he welcome returning to the strongside with us?

He just strikes me as a player who wants to be traded so he can ink a nice new payday.

Buyer beware.

He's doing all the whining and complaining that he isnt loved in Carolina. Well his production is inflated. His "double digit sacks" come the same way as "Lites Owt" does, against backs and TE's in garbage time.

Would anyone give up Spencer and Ellis to get Peppers?

Hell no. Then we would have only two proven pass rushers. You need three to be safe.

Hey, if he comes cap friendly then do it. He is better than Ellis and I think Ellis is very solid. Spencer can't play the run well enough yet. I don't know about the rest of his game except he seems to get to the QB well enough at this stage of his career with injuries and all.

oh wow so now all of Shawn Merrimans sacks come against backs and TE's in garbage time?

To all the people who say we can't afford it...

WE CAN!

The question is..is it a smart way to allocate the money for the team?

There's about 10 million left for the team to sign rookies and a few FA's. Ware can fit under that with a new deal. Peppers would be a wash with Ellis saving 5 million while Peppers would probably be making 5-6 million in 09.

I was a big fan to bring him in when he was a FA, but not now. I believe we can find Ellis's replacement and have the same production as Peppers at 1/8 the price and 7 years younger. Let's build through the draft.

Ellis is on his way out the door, and Spencer hasn't proven a thing.
