Agree with the other comment...he had his chance in Oakland and failed while other RBs put up better numbers.

Last year Randle also put up a better ypc average than Murray. The same situation that happened with Darren last year.

I guess by your logic all is well?!?

I will agree with that. Personally if DMAC is the "change" of pace back and Randle emerges as legit RB then all will be fine. If they have to rely on DMAC as the bellcow they will be in trouble...not only at the RB position but the extra pressure Romo will have on his shoulders w/o a legit running game. All we can do is wait a couple more days and see what transpires.

Definitely looking forward to that!!

True. Troy Hambrick looked very good until he became the starting RB and saw his 4.9 avg go down to 3.5 ypc.

Archer just confirmed it. Williams had knee surgery after minicamp.

I think people are holding out hope with every back we have/had except Dunbar because it's the only thing they can do at this point.

I continue to expect our running game to lag with the backs that we have compared to last year. I don't know how much that will affect team performance. I hope I'm wrong about the backs, of course, or that Dallas recognizes its deficiency and does something about it. (As much as I like Leary, I still wouldn't be opposed to him being traded for a starting-caliber back if we see that what we have isn't going to cut it.)

Yeah, it is ok to hope as long as it is realistic hope. Williams has played in 5 games since 2011. Think about that for a second. Run DMC has only played in one full season since 2008. Neither of these guys are/were going to do much here. Our Oline is awesome but they aren't miracle workers. Demarco was a great running back, not elite but really good. The combination with having a great oline and RB is what made us so successful last year and now we have gotten away from that in my opinion. In my mind our only hope right now is Randle and he is a question mark both on and off the field.

We are on the same page with the RB situation. Let's hope we are both wrong. I would like to get a guy like Chris Johnson as a safe backup. One thing about that dude is he never gets hurt. I would prefer a player better than CJ but that would come down to a trade of some sort. I would take a player like Lamar Miller for Leary.

McFadden is very good in Pass Blocking.

Ideally, Randle will be the starter, but his attempts will decrease from Murray's 83% down to something like 60% with McFadden getting far more than the #2 did last season. People say that Dunbar can be the 3rd down back, but that is a good role for McFadden because of his Pass Blocking ability.

I'm on board with that but I would favor a 70 -30 split. Couple more days to go. Look forward to reading your take on the Gus if you have one in that thread.

Not my logic....just sharing what I found. I have never said Randle is better than Murray. He has to prove what he has just like Latavious will if given the opportunity.

I don't care who wins the job I just want to see someone step up and show they are capable of getting it done. If that is Randle, McFadden, Gus or some guy who is currently not on the team, main thing is going out there and producing

Now that this extended Ryan Williams experiment is over.... Perhaps now we can get serious about figuring out the RB position.

I really like the Gus Johnson signing. I'm also holding out hope that they'll bring Chris Johnson in as well...

I could see another vet coming in via FA or minor deal. We are simply too thin right now heading into camp.

Cowboys release RB Ryan Williams, LB Cam Lawrence, OL Ryan Miller. Sign RB Gus Johnson, OL Ronald Patrick, LB Justin Anderson

Is this Patrick's second go 'round with the Cowboys? Seems I remember him from before...

Yikes! Feel bad for the guy. Whole lot of talent. That knee though. Alright, on to the next one .

Let's go Seastrunk!

I really hope this means Seastrunk is impressing. He was really fun to watch at Baylor and I thought for sure he'd transition well to the NFL. But if we don't plan on giving him many touches at RB... why not have him return kicks/punts in preseason and see how he does? He could be our Harris replacement. He's so explosive in the open field.

I prefer a scenario that has a healthy McFadden as the starter as he is the more complete back. Randle as the 2 albeit with far more touches than last year. We'll see how it shakes out
