Noyes says probationer visits required at least monthly. Court can make tougher rules or grant exceptions. @NBCDFW
#JoshBrent Defense asks if Judge Robert Burns would be a softie. Prosecutor objects. Noyes does not answer. @NBCDFW

What Jerry Brown's mom has to say is irrelevant. It wasnt her personal road that this dummy was tearing down hammered. He could have killed anyone. If anything Brent is remarkably lucky he only killed Brown.

So . . . Lee is both fragile (an italian word) AND STUPID!

The support the organization has given this man is embarrassing. They acted like he is the victim. You have the headcoach talking about "right kind of guys" and publicly supporting a player who was responsible for the death of a Dallas Cowboy.

You have "team leader" Sean Lee going to the courthouse like Brent's selfish stupidity diddnt cost this team a player at a position of dire need.

I also recall other "stupid heads" (Aikman and E. "the Diamond" Smith stopping by at Michael Irvin's coke/prostitute trial.

Hey, Sean! Howz that rehab coming alone, you fragile, overpaid linebacker.

Without taking a hard stance, I'll admit I'm befuddled by this situation. a) what he did was serious. Not only did it lead to the death of a young man but it put many others at risk. He needs to pay b) I'm not sure what you do regarding supporting him. You don't want to not support getting him help and you don't want to abandon him but at the same time I find it a little strange that people are showing up to publicly support him. No matter what Brown's Mom say, she can't get her son back so just showing up to vocally support the "killer" here is a weird scenario. I don't mind not abandoning him but can they do it behind the scenes or not make it so public. Befuddled on where to go on this.

The team should have washed their hands of Brent as soon as he started setting off his ankle monitor. The fact that they actually kept this slug around long enough to retire is mindblowing.

That sounds great, if you are running a High School JV team. If you are running an NFL team and need to get Dez Bryant to sign a new contract, you don't get to run the team like an Army Drill Sergeant would. The other Cowboys players support Brent as a person dealing with a terrible mistake and a terrible tragedy, people on this website should think about that.

Kicking an untrustworthy idiot to the curb is running things like a drill sergeant? Oooooookay.

I understand completely. Not saying that after multiple mistakes they should have let him go instead of keeping him around. I just initially also supported the idea of telling him that he was going to go away and have issues but that they wouldn't abandon him in his recovery...on a personal side.

Not pardoning Brent whatsoever, but I think you may misunderstand what type of support Lee and others were providing.

If your son or brother or close friend, for example, made a life altering mistake and regreted it to the depths of his soul, wouldn't you at least show up in court to show you care?
That is not at all the same as saying that what that person did is okay.

Next #JoshBrent witness is Dallas Cowboys director of player development Bryan Wansley. He helps players with various issues. @NBCDFW
Wansley says #JoshBrent is now working in a warehouse. No longer on NFL support. @NBCDFW
Wansley discusses safe ride service for NFL players. No longer in effect. Cowboys have vehicles on call if players want a ride home. @NBCDFW
On cross, #JoshBrent prosecutor asks if Cowboys encourage players and fans not to drink and drive. Wansley: "That is correct." @NBCDFW
Jerry Brown's mother is the next #JoshBrent defense witness. @NBCDFW

Doing it before Brent goes to trial is.

You're confusing a legal perspective with a business perspective. A trial is for determining legal guilt (and sometimes civil negligence...and other civil torts). You're not guaranteed due process in employment scenarios unless your employer agrees to beforehand.

Kicking him off the team doesn't necessarily equate to being a drill sergeant...more likely a smart business person. You can still support the guy's rehabilitation (if you buy into that line of thinking) without employing him.

Kicking him off the team would have been a stupid business decision.
The only two other active players I can recall being convicted of a similar offense both played again.

The Cowboys were very smart to maintain their rights to a young, cheap, rare player even if they never plan to suit him back up.

You may disagree with it on a moral basis but not as a business decision.

So on business decisions, you want to resign Dez Bryant. You make him an offer and Dez replies "Are you kidding? Josh Brent was a friend of mine and you gave him no support whatsoever, called him names and pushed him out the door the first chance you got. Why should should I sign here when the Commanders are telling they will have my back no matter what?"

Was "kicking an idiot to the curb" a good business decision?

Right, such a good friend Dez has been at the trial.

Okay.

Yeah, but it throws the "right kind of guy" nonsense out the window. This team takes good players off its draft board for far less than causing the death of a teammate.

You may have noticed that Brent has not played a down since this incident occurred.

Marshawn Lynch got a DUI before the 2012 season. He has never missed a game.

Aldon Smith got a DUI during this past season. The 49ers never suspended him. He did miss games while he put himself in rehab, but he came back and played this season.
