If you have a point to make, feel free to make it. It does not fall upon me to research a point you are trying to make.
You're the one who said "breaking rules is breaking rules". There is nothing irrelevant about my question asking you to clarify that statement.

Fact is you are ignoring my question because you either answer it one way and look extremely foolish by saying all transgressions deserve the same punishment or you answer the other way and have to abandon your ridiculous "breaking rules is breaking rules" mantra. It is not my fault you've painted yourself into a corner, so you should direct your little tantrum at yourself, not me.

Man up for once and answer this very simple question: Do you really believe that someone who gets caught with a corked bat deserves the same punishment as the people who got paid to deliberately lose a World Series?

(Here comes the cowardly refusal to answer a simple question in 3.... 2........ 1.................................

Collusion.

I keep giving you clues. You must do the work if you want to truly understand,

Also unlike your guy. None of his stats are questionable. Not tainted in any way.

I will gladly address your point as soon as you man up and answer my question.

If you think I am going to post something so absurdly stupid as $25k is the same as $1 million then you are sadly mistaken.

Thank you for finally admitting how stupid it was to say "breaking rules is breaking rules."

As I said, and you have now finally admitted (though I have no idea why you had to make it so difficult), there are varying degrees of breaking rules. Some rules are far more important than others, and deserve far stricter punishment.

In the case of George Brett and his bat, no.

Having the pine tar extend up 2 " more than allowed didn't give George any advantage whatsoever.

For a pitcher, that is a completely different situation.

Dont pitchers do it for better grip, not to get the ball to act funny? And its generally accepted?

Seriously. Let it go.

Why? Because it sheds light on posting motives and how ridiculous some posts were. All any of us can do is be consistent when posting here and not move the goal posts from one thread to the next. I asked a simple straight forward question based on what has been posted. Nothing unreasonable about asking for clarity on contradicting posts even if they are in different threads.

Pitchers don't use pine-tar on balls.

They use a petroleum-jelly like substance, those who cheat anyways. It makes the balls break harder, an easier release if you will. If a pitcher wants a better grip, the rosin bag is right there next to them.

Does pine tar benefit pitchers?

The general sentiment in the Red Sox clubhouse following Michael Pineda's pine tar incident was universal. Despite Pineda's blatant and over the top violation of the rules, many Red Sox players seemed okay with the use of pine tar in baseball, as long as it was not obvious.

"I think grip is very important. If that was not the case then a lot of guys would be walking around in wheelchairs because it's cold," said Red Sox pitching coach Juan Nieves. "But you cannot be that blatant about it. I think using the rosin bag is very important, also."

"It's one of those things that we all know that everyone does it," catcher A.J. Pierzynskisaid. "I'm all for it. You just can't do it that blatantly. That's it. Everyone has something. Catchers have pine tar on their shin guards all of the time. It's not a big deal. As long as it's not blatant, you're not putting it out there for the whole world to see."

"A lot of pitchers in the league do it," first baseman Mike Napoli said. "You don't really see spots like that so blatantly. I'd rather a guy have control over his ball when it's cold, but you can't do it that way."

While many of the players mentioned that pine tar allows pitchers to give a better grip on the ball, the question as to whether or not pine tar provided a noticeable difference for pitchers on the mound beyond having a better grip was up in the clouds.

Yea, I think there is a difference when using something to get better grip vs. using something to get the ball to move funny.

Because people in this thread want to discuss Pete Rose. They don't want you in here baiting other users and hijacking the thread into something else. If you want to talk about the Patriots, which you obviously do, then literally 29 of the 100 most recent threads in the NFL Zone are about the Patriots. Feel free to choose any one of those.

Seriously. Let it go.

Definitely, tar is used by the flame throwers in most cases who utilize the slider(or cut-fastball) and a change-up. Usually, those entail the relief pitchers. However, it is rare, especially back when I played.

Pete Rose = baseball. You posted about pine tar = baseball. Hard to see any hijacking going on if we use any normal standard of thot process. Especially since you started an entire thread about a pitcher with pine tar and said the manager should be suspended for 81 games over it = baseball. So pine tar = baseball, in one thread about baseball that you started proclaiming one view on the subject and then contradict that view here in another BASEBALL thread. Asking for clarity on a position is hardly hijacking.

Yup. That's what we call demonstrating absurdity by being absurd. Something clearly lost on you.

Seriously. Let it go.

Ha Ha, the only manipulating that happened was you on yourself and you didnt even realize it. Funny tho, everybody else could see it. Stevie Wonder could have seen it.

C'mon man, seriously, its time to let it go.

Amen. There's no reason or excuse for using a banned substance. Of course, using a banned substance certainly isn't anywhere near as serious of an offense as gambling on games you are participating in. That's why a banned substance gets you a week or so off, and gambling rightfully gets you a lifetime ban.
