Can't disagree with that.
The thought of Philbin and Moore in the same room alone having scheme discussions has haunted me in the past.
I give them both a pass for signs of improvement vs Cinn.
The OL stepped up and there was a decent game plan offensively considering the current state of affairs.
Yep. The Oline lineup last week vs Cincy was the same lineup from Week 1 (after McGovern went down after only 8 plays into the game), and it greatly improved from 1 week to another. Why mess with it again? Absolutely stupid and stubborn. Proves Philbin has no idea what he's doing. I hate talking this ugly about our coaches, but darn, how can you not when they keep making such dumb decisions from week to week?

The smart move would be to put Peters at RT since he has NEVER PLAYED GUARD IN HIS ENTIRE CAREER.

Well, to be fair, you can't add Peters without messing with the O-line.

Bingo, and noticed last week that Biadasz was really stepping up his line calls.
Im not overly concerned that even Philbin could screw this up, but would personally prefer seeing Smith stay at LT unless there was an immediate concern there.
Kid is growing up fast, and owning his start there.
Either way this OL is improving and getting better, and Peters addition will be noticed.
Couldn't agree more. The line isn't the sinking ship we all thought after Tyron went down. I think it actually becomes a major strength with Peters coming in. I had high hopes for Tyler after the draft, but he's more than exceeded my expectations early this year, and he's only going to get better. He looks really, really good and I'm sure having a HOFer like Peters next to him will only expedite his development.

The smart move would be to put Peters at RT since he has NEVER PLAYED GUARD IN HIS ENTIRE CAREER.

Peters prepped to play guard during his last season with the Eagles. He was up for the move inside as he believed it would extend his career but moved when the Eagles lost their LT in the final preseason game. His age has him struggling a bit with speed rushers on the outside, so it is a good move for him.

I really don't understand why people are making such a big deal out of this. Peters is a generational talent. He's football IQ is off the charts and he plays with near perfect technique. Half the guards in the NFL were LTs in college. The switch is not that big a deal.

Do people really think that a guy with Peters' skills and experience won't be better than Farniok or McGovern at LG?

So you delay smith's progression at LT where he's been playing very well, for a year plug of 40 year old peters?

he has all of next years off season to work on it but for now if you want to make a run this year with this defense while we still have Dan Quinn you put the best five out there and put them in the best position to win and Peters at left tackle. just playing all the game this season at guard gets Tyler better and use to the speed of the NFL action. his transition will be easier for him next year. Larry's transition from guard to tackle was seamless.

no it's smart, Smith is your future who's playing well, Peters is a rental, why stop the progress of your future?

You set up future for maximum success while still focusing on team goals.

Tyler is LT of future.

Team needs best 5 at their best spots for TEAM success.

Part of me wants Tyler Smith to stay at LT and let the learning curve continue and part of me believes the best combination right now is Smith at LG and Peters at LT.
The Oline went south last year when they started moving them around. Seems better to maintain 4 of the 5 positions the same by putting Peters at LG. He’ll be between Smith and Biadasz and his experience a help to both. Biadisz will be bookended by HoFers.

Interesting. Peters has never really played guard. Broaddus says he can’t play guard so playing him at guard is probably a good thing. I don’t think this is Philbin’s call because he wanted Tyler on the bench.:facepalm:
His last year or two with the Eagles he played some guard he got kicked out to LT due to injuries to LT and believe suspensions.

Peters is a LT. Too late in the game to change that.

Starting O-line for the first round of the playoffs:

LT Jason Peters
LG Tyler Smith
C Connor McGovern
RG Zack Martin
RT Tyron Smith

That's our best five when Tyron is healthy, although I admit that mcGovern at center would require some work.

Not sure if everyone understands that even as well as Tyler is playing, the Cowboys OL is dead last in pass blocking win rate. Tyler, Farniok, Biadasz are just not good in this area.

DEAD LAST.

As in the worst in the NFL.

Cowboys OL needs to lean in on its strength, run blocking while also improving from absolute worst in pass blocking.

CZ needs to realize that team goals are more important than individual goals right now.

Moreso, Tyler is a solid LT right now but he could be ELITE as LG.

RIGHT NOW.

Just like Zack could be a decent RT but he is currently the GOLD STANDARD at RG.

Next season after full offseason, Tyler can resume being the LT of the future. If that is in best interest of the team.

Center for me is still the weakest link on the Oline. IMO

Farniok has not only been the worst OL by far, he’s been the worst starter on the team. If Peters is plug and play there, you do it. Tyler Smith has been plenty good enough at LT that you leave him there for good. And I say that as one of the people who originally wanted him to to stay at LG.

he's played guard before I believe for the Eagles. From what I have heard, he wasnt very good.
I find that hard to believe. If anything, I'd guess they moved him because he was more valuable at LT, but Smith has been exceptional at LT, and it seems like guard would be better for someone who's lost a step or two.

Philbin playing musical chairs because he doesn't know how to choose the best 5 at the correct spots. He's the problem.
And yet he's taken this completely dysfunctional OL and it's been producing through 2 games so far.
Explain that.

Or should they have dived deep into buying OL talent like the Bengals only to suffer 13-14 sacks through the same period?

This Oline struggled during Week 1, but that was to be expected since both Tyler Smith and Matt Farniok were forced to start at different positions which they had not practiced at or with the 1st string Offense all training camp and preseason. Granted, they performed much better Week 2 as I said they would since they finally had an extra week to practice together with the 1st string. Can you imagine how much better they would have performed to start the season had Philbin and his assistant(s) made the right move to start both of them at their current positions and with the 1st string Offense since training camp, plus made the 1st string Offense play throughout the preseason games? Do you understand now why I criticize so much, because these numbskulls who have been coaching in the NFL for so long simply can't get it right and make the correct decisions from the beginning. It's always much later after failed attempts and poor decisions that hurt the team that they finally realize what to do correctly. To top it off, now they are looking into shuffling the Oline once again. Why? It's perfect the way it is right now.

But, hey, don't criticize this coaching staff because what does one know, much less is just a JAG fan? Is that right?

Don’t be surprised if Peters is simply the backup T, right and left, and maybe the backup at guard as well. Our depth is garbage across the board. As far back as 2020, even the Eagles we’re going to play him at RG before suffering injuries at tackle. He did not have a great year.
