Peters injury history mirrors Tyron's....won't hold up as long term starter.
Don't stop Smiths long term progress at LT......
Keep Peters as a backup across the line

According to that article, he was playing RG, not LG. That could be all the difference right there.

It can be much tougher to switch sides because of the footwork challenges. Imagine spending years doing everything left-handed and then suddenly having to switch to doing everything right-handed.

And not just the footwork, but switching the punching hand, pushing with the opposite leg, etc.

I support this. Tyler has looked very good so far and should only get better. Peter's can make for a very good LG. Smart to move the 40 YO inside and let him bruise people

If Peters is better then Farniok at guard it makes sense. They would unfashionably stupid to move Smith off LT now that he is excelling there and it’s clear the future is now for him. I would keep Peters as a swing tackle but if in the meantime he can play LG better then any other player on the roster it makes sense to slot him in there.

he has all of next years off season to work on it but for now if you want to make a run this year with this defense while we still have Dan Quinn you put the best five out there and put them in the best position to win and Peters at left tackle. just playing all the game this season at guard gets Tyler better and use to the speed of the NFL action. his transition will be easier for him next year. Larry's transition from guard to tackle was seamless.
Tyler wasn't even slated to beat out McGovern at LG. You are assuming he can play the position even though he's only ever played LT.

That was Philbin usual shenanigans.

Tyler outplayed McGovern in preseason.

Not even close.

You set up future for maximum success while still focusing on team goals.

Tyler is LT of future.

Team needs best 5 at their best spots for TEAM success.

Team success is letting your tackle get all the experience he can, the future is NOW!! Again Peters is a rental for this year. Let Peters play guard..

I mean, if you havent noticed, Tyler is different. He's going to be good at anything he does on the oline. And I hope that you aren't gullible enough to believe that he wasn't slated to beat out McGovern at guard. That was all posturing by the Cowboys staff to motivate Tyler

What was outplayed to the naked eye, he was missing assignments at guard . He was the better talent for sure, but wasn't assignment sound.

Wish I could buy you a clue, it's easier than explaining things to you.

LOL

You could say exact same thing about his play at LT.

The difference is that Tyler was considerably more productive at LG at both run blocking and pass blocking than Philbin's favorite.

Yep. The Oline lineup last week vs Cincy was the same lineup from Week 1 (after McGovern went down after only 8 plays into the game), and it greatly improved from 1 week to another. Why mess with it again? Absolutely stupid and stubborn. Proves Philbin has no idea what he's doing. I hate talking this ugly about our coaches, but darn, how can you not when they keep making such dumb decisions from week to week?
Philbin turned an undrafted free agent into a starting right tackle. He does know what he is doing.
