I dont know. If I am Tony Romo and Jason Witten? I understand I don't have much longer to play. I have made my million upon millions upon millions. I have been extremely lucky to do that; I should be set for life financially.

I think I would do it...... Give this team a chance at a Super Bowl; They believed in you and gave you your chance when you were younger.

Go get that Ring!!!!

really dumb comparison.

I dont know why people are so eager to defend millionaires. Romo is worth 50 million dollars. Him taking a pay cut so we can add another player to make the team better shouldnt be a slap in the face to him.

It's not just Mr. Romo's call. MRS. Romo also has a big say in the matter. Don't think she'd appreciate Mr. Romo just giving up some of the family's future because it might help the team's winning percentage go up a percentage point or two.

If Romo wasn't worth 100mil, I suspect Jerry wouldn't pay him that much. I might suspect that
your boss thinks your overpaid too so send in your 20% salary reduction and the board
will thank you.

Thick skulls leave no room for brains.

If I got paid 20 million a year at my job, was worth 50 million and knew that taking a 20% pay could would catapult my company to new heights; yeah, Id take the cut.

Money still has to be accounted for against the cap. We are still paying on pay cut for Free. It's a contract the money just doesn't go away. Heard this on talking cowboys yesterday

My apologies. Guess i was mistaken.

People are stupid to compare millionaire football players to regular People. Look there is a salary cap and dallas could use some more money. Romo is making alot and to much.

People say peyton manning looked bad towards the end of the season. Did heis a game? No but romo did. Look romo salary is 17 million. He could easily take a 3 to 5 million pay cut to help this team.

Look at the spurs. Tim Duncan took way less than he could get elsewhere to win a champion and keep key players on the team
I just feel romo should do the same

Peyton is taking a 4 million pay cut to help the Broncos free up cap space. Time for Romo to do the same. Romo salary will be 17 million this year. If Peyton can take a 4 million pay cut from his salary Romo can do the same. No its not a restructure that pushes money down the road, it's a straight pay cut. Come on Romo free up some cap space to help resign Dez, Murray and others.

I wouldn't be surprised if Romo does when Dallas nears the end of his contract (unless he thinks he can still play four or five years). It's a little unreasonable to compare his situation to Manning's. There are restructures built into the deal that Romo should expect the team to use instead of expecting a pay cut. If he knew the end of his career was near, it would be different because the money couldn't be pushed down the line. Manning would wreck the Broncos' cap if he asked for a restructure because he's likely in his last year (maybe two at best).

I don't think they are paying for the paycut. They are paying for his original bonus money that was prorated.

when you get into that position to give the money away, you do that. until then, you're just asking for something cause you know you're safe and never have to actually do what you suggest.

We don't need Romo to do anything besides a simple restructure, but that is the teams decision.

Dallas can get 34m in cap space by simply restructuring Romo, TSmith and Witten.

If they plan on spending even half of that amount then we can start talking about paycuts.

No its not. Romo is coming off a bad back and missed a game. I love romo but if he wants to help this team win then he needs to take alittle off the top to help. I don't want to restructure a straight pay cut.

I bet if you agree to take a pay cut, Tony might join you :omg:

8th highest paid QB and Wilson doesn't have his deal yet.
Just had arguably the most efficient season of any Cowboy QB in history
Led the NFL in QB rating BOTH the regular season and playoffs

But hey, if he'll take a pay cut after giving back, lung, neck, ribs ...I'm all for it!

A restructure would kill this team. Do you not understand a restructure. Pushes salary to a bonus and make it impossible to ever cut him or for him to retire

No they shouldnt. Restructure pushes money down the road. Makes it a large cap hit when we cut him or he retires.

So what? The cap goes up every year. It is an interest free loan or 0% financing. The money has to be accounted for now or later. It is smarter to do it later when the cap is larger and the impact is smaller percentage wise.
