Never been a Favre fan, always thought he was vastly overrated.

Won his teams some games, but more often than not, killed them when it counted with his stupid decisions and bad turnovers. Then you factor in how he acted towards the end of his career and the guy is just a loser, imo.

When I see people called Favre overrated it makes me think they only watched the 2nd half of his career.

The dude had nine 30 TD+ seasons - most of them back in the 90s when 30 TDs was pretty rare. He didn't win three consecutive MVPs because he was over-rated -- he was basically the best player in the NFL for half of a decade.

You don't get to cherry pick which parts of your career you want to be remembered for. I never said he wasn't a good QB, just not as good as I think he gets credit for, and the fact that he acted like a pompous towards the end of his career makes me think even less of him.

He's not just a "good" quarterback... your cherry picking comment is a joke since Favre's second to last season at age 40 was one of the best single QB seasons in NFL history. And winning 3 MVPs in a row (still the only person ever to do it) is a ridiculous feat that he could go straight to the Hall of Fame on alone.

Worst take on Favre I've ever read.

Aaaah, Tony Romo, the guy I cannot wait to forget.

Its sad that you don't root for the player with a star on his helmet.

I've always thought Favre was overrated, too. Mostly because of the enormous regard everyone had for him.

He was a great, great player, to be sure. But he was playing on some pretty good teams there in the mid-90s. He's the kind of guy who single-handedly won you 3-4 extra games during the course of a season, but the chances he took and the first quarter yips he'd get in the biggest games cost them against really good teams.

'Cost them' is not really fair to say, since he still played at a very high level. But the dropoff did hurt the Packers in a couple of those post-season games when I think they could have relied on a good defense and Ahman Green to perhaps get a win and advance.

Still a great player, but he lived his career on a pedestal. Reports from the NYJs were that he was aloof and not particularly well liked. And, of course, there were the pictures floating around of his...distinctive wristwatch. That alone is so gross that I can't imagine what the uproar would be if those pictures had been tied to Tony Romo.

Oh, and I also hate that he gave up on a down to give Michael Strahan the sack record. I think that just disrespects the value of one of the most prestigious records in football.

He was a good quarterback. Joe Montana was a good quarterback, too.

Sorry for not using the adjective you would prefer.

..and the cherry picking comment was in reference to a statement about the first half of Favre's career. Looking over his entire career, he was a guy that won his team games, no doubt, but also a guy that lost his team a lot of games as well.. often at the worst times, and committed more turnovers than anyone, ever. He was also a guy who tried to get his way all the time, and was deceitful in his attempts to go where he wanted to at the end of his career.

Also worth mentioning, that season you speak of that you are praising Favre for, his second to last year with Minnesota that he played so well in, he did exactly what I was talking about. Threw a bad, late 4th quarter interception in the conference title game to cost the Vikes a chance to go to the Super Bowl. That is Brett Favre, in a nutshell.

Naw it's never Romo the 108 million dollar man' fault. it's T.O, or Marty B or Dez running the wrong pattern. or the O_line or the defense. or the ball being slick in Seattle. it's always anyone but this choker's fault.PLEASE!

If you would pull your head out of your butt and actually know the dynamics of TEAM play, you might understand! Of course Romo makes mistakes that cost the Cowboys games. But so does the defense, special teams, and coaches!

Go back to Extremeskins or where ever you are from.!

Why they let you troll and troll this forum is beyond me!

The truth hurts. deal with it. Romo is a choker. and that has been proven. give him a great O-Line and defense, and he still will find a way to lose.but keep putting the blame on others if it makes you feel better.everyone is a troll that don't agree with you. or don't think Romo is the greatest.

It really sounds like it.

Tony is a decent boxer, by the way. I wouldn't mind him seeing a couple of these guys in a dark ally.:laugh2:
They're beyond ruthless and unforgiving.
To Romo's credit, you never hear him make excuses or dodge the blame

He never does. He does not throw his teammates under the bus, and from everything that I read, his teammates praise him and are glad he's their QB...even defensive players talk good about him.

Romo is that last thing wrong with the Cowboys team.

When Tony Romo received a $25 million signing bonus as part of a new contract that guarantees him $55 million, a common question was: How can Jerry Jones justify giving a quarterback with one playoff win that much money?

But one retired quarterback who has a lot of playoff wins, Brett Favre, says Romo does not deserve the blame for the Cowboys’ lack of postseason success.

“It’s the ultimate team sport,” Favre said at an event in Dallas today, via the Dallas Morning News. “I think it’s misleading to say that a quarterback has wins and losses and say he was a part of one playoff victory. I think there are a lot of factors that go into the success of not only Tony Romo but any player. Just what little bit I’ve watched the last couple of years, it seems like they were a little bit in disarray offensively. I thought he did a good job, from what I saw, of managing and making plays. Does that get you in trouble sometimes when you try to do too much? Sure it does. But I think I’d rather have a guy who’s willing to take those chances.”[/quote]

One problem with that. they keep losing games and not even making the playoffs anymore. no playofffs inthey can like each other all they want, but that's bad. 4 out of the last 5 years. that's bad.

Regardless of how anyone allocates blame, the whole division has question marks at qb. Eli is coming off a down year (as is romo imo), there are real doubts as to whether Griffin can stay on the field, and the Eagles are a mess at that position. We'd have concerns if any of those guys were starting here next year, but the grass is always greener...

So they think. At least Romo stays with the Cowboys.
